1. So this two legged, ridiculously clad bringer of Darkness
tom ,   tel aviv   (02.07.11)
is getting more power over our collective asses? What are we whining about then, in regard to Egypt? Obviously The Desert God of Death (Pat Condell's expression) is the way "forward" . May the Great Troll have mercy on us!!! - but we could fight back and the best way (IMHO) is to laugh these clowns out of town.
2. Where is Liebermann's loyality law?
Jacob ,   Beer Sheva   (02.07.11)
As if haredi Judaism would represent the Jewish soul. It rather stands for everything that we don't like about it: racism, deceit, nepotism. And as if Eichler could be proud to receive money from "inside sources", that is, from the state he so despises.
3. AN OUTSIDERS WIEW -
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (02.07.11)
- A WIEV FROM A GOY - The report, which the organization has sent to MKs, says Eichner has called Israel "an enemy state", "a historical national disaster", "an evil regime" and a "Jewish ghetto". He also said that "all talk of democracy is just lies and hypocrisy". "It's a good thing we live in a modern democracy, which allows us to express such extremist views against the state and democracy in public. - ACCORDING TO MY WIEW - THE STATE AND NATION OF ISRAEL IS CREATED BY YEHOWAH Sebaot - The LORD of Hosts- Thus - Isaiah 54 "Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear! Break forth into singing and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife," saith the LORD. 2Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations; spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. 3For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left, and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. 4"Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed; neither be thou confounded, for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. 5For thy Maker is thine husband" the LORD of hosts is His name" and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; the God of the whole earth shall He be called. - BUT - Democracy is not. Orao.Srbia.
4. Can we assume he will be refusing a salary?
Danny   (02.07.11)
Refusing to allow his community to get an agora from such an evil society?
5. Democracy is a lie-then it represents who-the majority?
Avi M ,   Israel   (02.07.11)
I find that anyone who has any edu. in political science can tell you that democracy is a lie and representative republics, as evinced in the legislative body, shows just how representative the laws and procedures are according to the will of the majority of people. The lies spun to acheive power by and from a certain political party are not even propounded and judged for what they are -lies. Whether there is justice is not the point of democracy-ITS PURPOSES is just to stand as a more tolerant form of government that rules and controls the people by a select group of governors and a limited degree of rights and freedoms; punishments and rule law.And as all know, in Israel the same old characters, the same old hatred the same old hypocracy by those who hate the State, its laws and its people. Thats when democracy becomes its own enemy.
6. Right!
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (02.07.11)
B"H - Hear this: "The cabinet approved yesterday the following foreign service appointments": - Goylooking Yacov Hadas-Handelsman - Ambassador to the European Union; - Goylooking Gil Haskel - Ambassador to Kenya and non-resident Ambassador to Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi and the Seychelles; - Goylooking Yoed Magen - Ambassador to Colombia; and - Goylooking Hagit Ben-Yaakov - Ambassador to Latvia and non-resident Ambassador to Lithuania. Comment: As long as Israel insists on reserving the posts of its representatives to the non-religious, assimilated and Hellenistic sectors of its population, no wonder no one in the world actually believes it is a Jewish State. Once we start acting like Jews should, the nations will see the G-dly light in us. Right now however, the State of Israel is bent on projecting an image of thick darkness of itself, an unsostainable line the foreign ministry should swiftly and quickly change
7. Arab MKs?
Lila ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.07.11)
You are such hypocrites!! The Arab MKs openly hate Israel, join together with our enemies on flotillas, and have absolutely no loyalty to the country in whose Knesset they serve - and you're upset about this guy?
8. 'outside sources' = JEWS
roxanne ,   haifa   (02.07.11)
9. If that's what Eichler said, he should be PRIME MINISTER!
(02.07.11)
10. NOT A CULTURAL JEW
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.07.11)
He is too narrow minded to be included among people of culture. By saying he is out to preserve Jewish culture he is out to confuse. The Orthodox Judaism will not cease its propaganda and this harbinger of retardation proves it over and over again. He does not belong in the Knesset of modern era.
11. #10 - an your definition of a sofisticated, cultural Jew?
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (02.07.11)
Treif eating and shtrupn shikses?
12. #6 Ariel Ben Yochanan freedom from religion
Free Thinker ,   Tel aviv   (02.07.11)
All I want in life is freedom from everyone elses religion. I am a progressive and rational human being who does nice things and helps others not because I'm afraid I'm going to burn in hell but because I am a human being who has empathy for the plight of others. I do not judge and slander othes because I feel that a religious belief gives me the moral high ground, rather I debate issues rationally before making a judgment. Finally I do not feel the urge to post thinly veiled threats to kill someone simply because they have an opposing view to mine on the internet. This is because I am an enlightened and decent human being who does not feel the need to shore up my life with medieval religious dogma that has no true compassion or respect for humanity.
13. he fits in with Tibi
Golan ,   modiin   (02.07.11)
zuebi. aloni, raz, and other rabid antisemites. By denying our peoplehood he is a reform Jew of the 1850s.
14. racist
daniel ,   Rimonim, Israel   (02.07.11)
If Kahane and Kach were banned from Israel for being "racists", Eichler is certainly worse and should be banned from politics.
15. secular jews
Tzviah ,   jerusalem   (02.07.11)
Oh, but if a secular MK will speak out against the charedim and call them vermin, that's Ok! I think that both sides should stop the name calling and do something productive instead of destructive.
16. He is no different
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.07.11)
His hatred for seculars is no different than Lapid's hatred for religious or Oppenheimer's for Zionists. His hatred for Israel is no different than Hanin's or Aloni's.
17. Nr 3 - Further -
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (02.07.11)
The Selfcontradiction of Democracy. It is said it is for Freedom, but in Reality its not. Democracy is the Dictatorship of the Mayority over the Minority. The Mayority Forces its Oppinion and Ideology on the Minority. This Deprives The Minority of their Divina and even Human Rights, to express itself in Rightous Conduct. Nr 5 has a point here. In short, Orao. Srbia.
18. Wellcome to Knesset, rabbi Eichler!
Vladimir ,   Jerusalem   (02.07.11)
Rabbi Israel Eichler is one the most talanted journalists and speakers and a devoted defender of the religious public in Israel. He knows his job. Even late Tommy Lapid, with whom he appeared in the TV program "Popolitica", respected him. No wonder that the secular leftist establishment, including "Hiddush" headed by the reform "rabbi" Regev and financed from abroad, persecutes him. They will fail. The voice of the truth will be heard not only in the batei-knesset but also in the Knesset. As for the reporting of Ynet, it should be more balanced and objective, more pro-Jewish.
19. Headline is wrong
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (02.07.11)
Should have read- "Pro-Jewish MK to be Reinstated"
20. Please, don't be hypocrites!
Rosen ,   Tel Aviv   (02.07.11)
If an openly anti-charedi party "Shinui" was part not only of the Knesset but also of the Sharon government, why not anti-secular MK? After all, that's what democracy is all about. Do you want me to cite what the former justice minister Tommi Lapid said about the religiuos public? To say nothing of the Arabic representatives in the Knesset.
21. Freedom of expression
Daniel Breslauer ,   Jerusalem   (02.07.11)
In a country where people like Ynetnews talkbackers Sagi and Talula are free to express their opinion, as are Uri Regev, Shachar Ilan and Nissan Horowitz, just a few people who love to refer to Haredim as backwards, unproductive, leeches, parasites, dangerous, harmful, a disgrace, violent and vile thugs, lecherous, sickos, beasts, lunatics, morons, deranged loonies.and much more (the above gathered from a Google search for "Ynetnews.com, Talula, Sagi, Haredim"), I believe the same freedom of expression should be granted to Yisrael Eichler. I may personally disagree with some of what he says, but this is, or should be, a free country. From all those who are so shocked, could you comment on Sagi and Talula's remarks I quoted above?
22. Wait a minute here
Rachel ,   Tel Aviv   (02.07.11)
when I was growing up people believed in G-d but left the Avodat Hashem to the religious people. After a few decades I have become horrified at the degree of HEFKERUT and debauchery in Israel. Gay parade in the HOLY CITY? drugs, nudism, no Bar Mitzvah and other unspeakables, Teachers forbidden to mention G-d, and more and more and BUDDHISM? And who knows what else and you call this a JEWISH STATE? Maybe Neither of the commentators I have read here know about any of this? Do you know in Palestinian CHILDREN TV programs (see youtube) they call Israelis PIGS AND MONKEYS? And WHY would they do that? I am not surprised after seeing the disgusting images. Do you know that when BABA SALI walked in Jerusalem the Moslem Arabs would rise and stand while he passed and greeted him? So why do they now call us PIGS AND MONKEYS? Why the Haredi (I am not, BTW) have become so extreme? Because they had to swing the Pendulum from one extreme to the opposite. They had to multiply many fold THEIR work on appeasing G-d and being even more stringent about it to MAKE UP for all secular, cultured, know it all intelligentzia! When I see these images on youtube, am I filled with National pride? Oh no! I suirm, say OY VEY!!! and beg G-d to please make this invisible to our nation's enemies and other anti Semites. So please DO NOT condemn Eichler or other Haredi. They have a tough job.
23. Seperate state from religion
Haim ,   Tel Aviv   (02.07.11)
Religious extremist MKs rather than spending their energy in trying to enforce unenforceable laws of dubious value, true religious leaders - as opposed to political leaders wrapped in the cloak of religion - would spend their time teaching and demonstrating the beauties of Judaism. Instead they are busy demonstrating the exact opposite. They use their political leverage to wrest vast sums of money from the government, i.e. from the pockets of the taxpayers, to support thousands who will not serve their country in the army or any other way, thereby creating hatred among the secular. They bring disrespect upon Judaism - and desecrate God's name - by sending to the Knesset those who end up in jail for flaunting the very laws of the Torah they pretend to represent.
24. In the Laws of Israeli Democracy
Joe   (02.07.11)
only the Left are permitted to openly hate, and boy are they hateful fanatics and racists against haredim or religious Jews. Vice versa, for haredim or religious Jews to disagree with their lawlessness, intolerance and liberal permissiveness are racists.
25. To all fellow Yidden the in Knesset
Al   (02.07.11)
I humbly suggest that you stop pissing on each others head and get the country ready for war. Egypt is about to fold to the MB as is Jordan. You will have a major war on your hands. Stop being morons and get to work. Prepare the country for war.
26. tut tut
observer   (02.07.11)
Seculars have been berating and defaming the haredi community since the State was founded and it never occurred to anyone to complain. Neither are haredim the only ones to contest the legitimacy of the State, and no one has ever disputed 'those others' right to voice their opinions. So, please Mr Regev et al, stop playing the bleeding heart libs for a moment, singing the praises of your 'democracy' and get real for once.
27. Nr 3 - 5 - 17 - further -
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (02.07.11)
Teocracy contra Democracy. A true Teocracy does not Force itself upon People, (as a Democracy does nr 17). YEHOWAH asked the Israeli People through Moses, if it wanted to Follow HIS ordinavces, and enter HIS Covenat, and all Israel answered Yes with one Mouth. And according to Scripture, this Covenats Between YEHOWAH and the Israeli People, the People Breaked. The Believers in Yehowah then, should Themselves, ceep those stattes for and to Themselves, and not to try to Force it upon Nonebelievers. That holds true to The Unbeliving Secular Democrats also, but their Democracy Contradicts that as above. Israel is not in Covenant with YEHOWAH just now, this HE will corect by sending the Prophet Elijah - Malaki 4 verses - 5"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. 6And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a curse." - However - even here the Conversion to his Covenant is Volontary. To restore the Personal Relationship - The Hearts of - The Fathers- Abrahams-Isaks and Jacobs , had with YEHOWAH, in the now living children -Todays Israelis. Orao.Srbia.
28. From the accompanying photo, he
seadog1946 ,   Ong's Hat, NJ USA   (02.07.11)
looks like an otherworldly Mr. Peanut.
29. Bring on civil war
Avi ,   Israel   (02.07.11)
I for one cant wait, as a secular person i will fight for my right to be free from religious coercion. The day will come when we will take up arms secular jew verses religious jew, bring it on i cant wait. Once and for all we will settle this.
30. #12 Are you familiar with the straw-man logical fallacy?
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (02.07.11)
You should read up on it - because you've just utilized in textbook format. You have created an evil, irrational, dogmatic individual, who only ever does good because he fears punishment in Hellfire, who constantly judges others, who threatens others with death. And you have now judged him - or rather, all religious individuals, with the same crass stereotype used by all such "enlightened" and "rational" individuals when they seek to prove said enlightenment. If you need to prove your decency credentials by decrying others as wicked, then you're not much good yourself. And if you prefer to paint an entire populace with some vague brush, to construct arguments against a strawman and then associate these arguments with others, as if they were one and the same, then I think you should start looking to your own issues.
