1. What is America without the Lincoln Memorial, White House
Oslo Agenda ,   Leftville, Israel   (02.16.11)
What is Israle and its future if its own children are so warped by their parent's leftist politics they have no clue WHY JEWS ARE IN THIS PARTICULAR LAND in the first place. Our founding mothers and fathers LIVED AND DIED in Hebron. If you wont get knowledge of this it is better you move to Amsterdam because you will bring great ignorance and problems to the Jewish people, as you have already done WITH YOUR IGNORANCE.
2. WHAT A SAD GOVERNMENT
Ricardo Macher ,   Karne Shomron - IL   (02.16.11)
Would you let your kid tour in Hebron? Have you imagined how many stones they would be subjected too? The good thing in this news is the reaction of Peace Now students. I thought they existed no longer. How good to read their views. They are the younger generation and ... there is hope. Please, dont send your children to Hebron. It is not Israel. It is not safe. It is not nahon.
3. Pathetic
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (02.16.11)
Surrendering our national shrines to the enemy.
4. Hebron is part of Jewish history
Nic ,   UK   (02.16.11)
Why not go? I studied counter reformation art as part of a set art history module, doesn't mean that I agree with the catholic church now does it?
5. reality: driving 2 Hebron is dangerous!
IMC ,   Jerusalem   (02.16.11)
Which is why every time I have gone to Hebron I have used one of the bullet proof roll over proof buses. Do we have enough of those for all of the school children? No? Then because of the clear and present danger to the children this trip should be optional and each student and their parents MUST have the right to decide whether or not they wish to participate in a visit to Hebron. In other words the school children of Israel should not be used as human shields in the protection of the settler residents of Hebron!
6. #1 YOUR IGNORANCE IS SHOWING....
sally forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (02.16.11)
You write: "Our founding mothers and fathers LIVED AND DIED in Hebron." Well no 1. Abraham lived and died elsewhere and was buried in Hebron because he purchased real estate there from the Hittittes. 2. Sarah also died elsewhere and was brought to Hebron to be buried next to Abraham. 3. Regarding Rachel she's buried just outside of Bethlehem 4. The rest of the Matriachs and Patriachs (Yitzhak, Rivka, Ya'akov and Leah)? I'm not here to educate you so please think about going to an on-line bible and reading about it. 5. I am NOT in favor of sending school children to be protective shields for the caustic right wing settlers but at least I have enough knowledge about Jewish history to know where the Matriarchs and Patriachs lived and why they are buried in Hebron. Enough to know that you are caustically ignorant of anything related to Jewish Religious History! Or as we used to say back in the day "Man you don't sound cool, you sound like a fool, go to school and then you'll be cool! Get it fool!"
7. sad to see the leftist's legacy-
Julie ,   Israel   (02.16.11)
mouthy, know-it-all, know nothing, Israeli- before- Jewish kids should not have a say in it. Their leftist parents and teachers (still using the word "occupation") should be ashamed but are too dumb to understand their limitations.
8. Ricardo#2 See the long term vision not the short term
David ,   Israel   (02.16.11)
If the Jews forsake their founding fathers and mothers' living and dieing in Hebron, they erase the foundation stone of the Jewish people. what are we without our history and our religion? nothing unique , nothing that needs to remain. If thats how you like it, I respect it, but move to a place where you can be without a history without a Jewish identity. Most of the world will welcome you. Finally. Or maybe the 2nd half of the final solution? Either way, Israel is not for sale, nor is our heritage and our 4000 yr history and identity. period.
9. "not feel like I'm in a war"
Amihai ,   Yesha   (02.16.11)
Sorry dear student, but you're already in war. Much better to know it, face it and be ready for it than. And why it is political to visit one of the holiest place in judaism ??? And what about the fear ? If the parents believe some could kill children on purpose, how in the world could they think there could be peace with them ?!?
10. What sad, ignorant little students!
Brian Cohen ,   PeoplesFrontofJudea   (02.16.11)
So these students think it's ok for the Palestinians to "occupy" the homes in Hebron where Jews lived for centuries until the Arabs committed ethnic cleansing? It is a sad statement on Peace Now that they appear to be feeding these kids false and misleading information. Instead of going and seeing for themselves, these students prefer to keep their heads in the beachsand of Tel Aviv and believe the left-wing agenda they are fed. Maybe the education ministry should have presented it to them as a trip to a Muslim Holy Site (which it is as well), to which I'm sure they would have been happy to go visit.
11. Hebraic is first and foremost HISTORY
rebecca ,   Modi'in   (02.16.11)
Cant these leftist see anything other than their own politics? They only want to learn what they want to know, not the truth.
12. #2 what a sad person - you live in Karne Shomron....
Rebecca ,   Modi'in   (02.16.11)
you're worried about a few stones while Iran makes nuclear bombs and Hamas shoots rockets at kindergartens in Sderot.
13. Let them opt out and #12
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.16.11)
#12: it isn't Ricardo The Leftist teachers and children should not impose their poisonous and racist views on others. Hebron is well within the consensus of all Zionists, exactly like other parts of Israel. That said, those people who want to boycott Jews should be allowed to opt out, but they should be consistent. No more visits to areas that the that are are contentious to Fatah such as Yafo, The Rabin Museum (built on the ruins of Sheikh Munis), the Kibbutzim, Gedera and Acre.
14. One step forward,10 steps backward!
Keren ,   IL-BR   (02.16.11)
That´s Israel´s problem. You take excelents decisions but afterwards you let indecisions to take you over. That´s ridiculous! Keep on going, keep on going! Implement your good decisions and forget about that and just keep on going!
15. Hey all stand back: right wing TBers stampede coming thru!
socialist ,   Jerusalem   (02.16.11)
UUUUUUUUUUeeeeeeeeeeee and they and are surely on a righteous roll today! Wow! Now ALL children must submit to a visit in Hebron...these right wingers just never fail to amaze!
16. Peace Now War Tomorrow
Joe Cone ,   USA   (02.16.11)
What do you expect from a member of a British and other foreign Government funded organization
17. Show a video, then they'll want to go.Also, answer to #6.
chava ,   yerushalayim   (02.16.11)
Show these kids and their parents a video of Hevron. It's not a "war zone." Show them the apartment buildings, the playground in the chatzeir. Show them the Ma'arah. Show them Kiryat Arba. To #6 -- Avraham lived in Hevron during some of his life. Sarah wasn't buried in Hevron to be next to Avraham. She died first (ztz"l) and Avraham bought the cave and the area around it for a very large amount of money. Then he was buried next to her.
18. to people posting here, hebron isn't setelment
ghostq   (02.16.11)
the jewish village exist there very long time, there r 8th and 10th generation from hebron in Israel. and peace now counting on youth not knowing this simple fact, with or without any religious claim, history wise hebron jewish residence go beyond the 16th century.
19. to #6 actually he is right you r wrong, I talked to
ghostq   (02.16.11)
a guy whos grandfather came from hebron, today he is kibutz member, very nice guy, he family lived in hebron more than 500 years, sad you don't know your own history, and hebron isn't asetelment, the jewish religous village wasn't I repeat wasn't created in the 60's.
20. to #15 and the stupidity among lefties rule supreme.
ghostq   (02.16.11)
you know nothing on your own history, (not religous reason).
21. next thing leftists will be saying we mustnt go to the kotel
zionist forever   (02.16.11)
The palestinians have tried to lay claim to the Old City. Tuslims even say the Kotel is holy to them claiming its the site where Mohammed tied up his horse before going to paradise. This is the reason why George W Bush when in Israel visited Masada rather than the Kotel. So how long before Peace Now starts preaching that way of thinking to brainwash jewish students into beleiving the palestinian claim to the Kotel is stronger than that of jews? Israeli children must not be allowed to start seeing places like Hebron as occupied territory and out of bounds to jews. Religious identity & modern day politics do not mix and the teachers should be explaining that. As for the kids who says I want to have fun, not feel like I am in war. This is supposed to be an educational trip not a trip to an amusement park.
22. # 8 YOU ARE WRONG, SLIHA
Ricardo Macher ,   Karne Shomron IL   (02.16.11)
You are 100% wrong and this is the reason Israel will soon be failed State. Let's go go the facts: 1. Israel was not created because of the religious tradition, but a a safe harbor the Jews. 2. In 1947 Jews accepted the Partition even knowing that they would relinquish Jerusalem, to be administered as a Separatum Corpum. 3. Well, if you consider religious ruins so important, why do we make tours to Mount Sinai? That should be one of the most sacred places for us, Moses was one of the buiilding figures of judaism. 4. Our founding father are political figures, not religious. For that we have a beautiful museum for Ben Gurio in Tel Aviv. 5. By your logic, Christians around the world should concquer Jerusalem where their founding father, Jesus, died and went to skies. 6. Hebron is not ours, as Jerusalem does not belong to Christians Americans, Italians, Mexicans. Hebron is now in foreign land. Period. 7. To insist in this lunacy is to perpetuate this conflict. 8. Bezrat haShem there are clever and smart boys like the ones mentioned in the article. They are the future of Israel.
23. #history lesson?? Sarah died before Avraham
Rebecca ,   Modi'in   (02.16.11)
Avraham had left for the acada, and when Sara realized what what happening she died (heart attack??) So Avraham bought a plot of land to bury her on. One would assume, as he wanted to bury her quickly, he would buy close to where she had died, ie where they were living. May Sara, Avraham, Rivka, Itzhak, Leah and Ya'akov not have "broken hearts" from their children not wanting to visit their graves.....
24. Hebron is the second most important site in Jewish...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.16.11)
...heritage after Har ha-Bait (Temple Mount). I am actually surprised we haven't sent our young on organized tours to the place until now. It is high time we commence this activity, and I wish to thank the education minister for initiating and leading the activity! Hazaq V'ematz!
25. @17 Chava...thank you for correction...
Sally Forth #6 ,   Jerusalem of course!   (02.16.11)
I was just sitting here singing from memory and clearly my memory hit a road bump and jumbled as I stopped at the check point! ;o) Of course you are correct Sarah died first its right there at the beginning of Parshas Chay Sarah. and of course you are correct Abraham's sons Yitzhak and Ismail brought their father to Hevron for burial afterwards...yes, yes it is in Parshas Chay Sarah right there towards the end of the parsha. Thank you for the gentle correction...much appreciated! But please do note that #1 doesn't recognize that Avraham and Sarah lived most of their lives out and about and far away from Hevron which is as you know incorrect.
26. #19 so did you want to tell me about Hotel Park & Passover..
Sally Forth #6 ,   Jerusalem of course!   (02.16.11)
of 1968 when Rabbi Levinger and his fellow settlers first turned up in Hebron? or did you want to leave that part out? did you want to discuss how it was the Labor government who ordered the IDF to protect Rabbi Levinger and his fellow settlers and allow them to stay first at the Hotel Park and then later approved building of Kiryat Arba or did you want ot leave that part out? The current Jewish religious settlement was definitely set up in the 60s! or did you forget the part of our history which took place in 1929 that would be TARPAD and so from 1929 until Passover 1968 when Rabbi Levinger and his fellow settlers turned up there were no Jews in Hebron? Well what say you ghostie q? How's that for historical knowledge?
27. Education Minister should learn from the students!
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.16.11)
there is no " Israeli" heritage in Hebron ,Jewish heritage maybe but "Israeli heritage " nooo way .
28. # 14
Ricardo Macher ,   Karne Shomron IL   (02.16.11)
You dont know what you are speaking. It is not a israel problem, it is palestinian land and concern the security of the region. Just shut your mouth up and go study a little more.
29. Being a Mother
GD ,   Jerusalem   (02.16.11)
of 3 school kids, and right of center politically, I would not allow them to go to Hebron and I would not go myself, I don't care who is supposedly buried there!
30. ghostq okey dokey ask away & I will prove to you
socialist ,   Jerusalem   (02.16.11)
