1. when the US as the ONLY country opposed the resolution...
eporue ,   europe   (02.19.11)
...it means, they DISMISSED the opinion of ALL other council members... in this case, they should have had a CONVINCING explanation. they uttered nothing than b.s. instead... this is outrageous.
2. The US should get out of the mediation business...
seadog1946 ,   Ong's Hat, NJ USA   (02.19.11)
The UN veto only highlights the US' bias toward Israel... and it highlights the power of the Israel lobby and fundamentalist christians on certain aspects US foreign policy. Obama - 0 Bibi - 1
3. Seriously?
Devorah   (02.19.11)
They want a day or rage? I thought every day was a day of rage for the arabs who occupy the fantasy land of Palestine. A day of rage for what? For something that does not exist? You're kidding, right? That would be like me having a day of rage for the 10 million bucks I don't have.
4. Note, historically, each time the Arabs don't get what they
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.19.11)
want they resort to violence...!! What do you call it in English, blackmailing...??!! Sadly, this is what has happened each time the international community and/or Israel didn't accept the Arabs' view on matters, going back with regard to the Arab Israeli conflict to 1920!! P.S. And some in the "West" haven't learnt this phenomenon yet!!!
5. Why don't the Palis want to talk directly with those they
Avigdor   (02.19.11)
need to make peace? Isn't this what UN 242 expects of them? And, didn't they accept 242?
6. Veto
frank ,   israel   (02.19.11)
The most striking assumption is the idea of pals and democracy. Consider there was an election, supervised by the US, asserted to be crime free and legal, but the pa refuses, as the rest of the world refuses to recognize hamas, yes that hamas, as the rightful leader and representative of the pals....correct, a terrorist organization was elected by the "moderates" but yet, for some stange reason the other pals, who are clamoring and crying with tears in their eyes as they hold their cripple children aloft to show how all they wish is democracy....but they have it, they elected terrorists but yet no one will allow them to be. Why is that? this was the will of the people! This was the will of the moderate arabs (electing terrorists is apparently a moderate activity) but still the world tends to ignore this fact that there is a duly elected, overseen and certified by western observers election, but yet, the illegitiment government is negotiated with but the legally elected (democrate) government is ignored....explain to me how that can be when western nations insist that arabs live according to a notion and concept they neither understand nor want and then when they try and are certified they are ignored. Could it be the west has been mistaken about arabs all this time? Could it be that arabs are not interested in anything but terrorism and these so called moderates are simply arabs without bullets????? could it be the west has been wrong? Yes to all, but the west will go down fighting that there are arab moderates and they hold the same values....clueless they are and problems they continue to cause....
7. Day of rage? Bring it on!
Observer1 ,   Chrangbegbo, Ghana   (02.19.11)
Throwing tantrums as usual, hen? You force people's hand to take away what was not and has never been yours, the rightful owners say no and you threaten to bring a day of rage? I call your bluff! Bring it on! What haven't we seen before from you? No stupid statement again from you will make us think you are serious. Deceptive and as elusive as the snake, that's what you are. God, I'm disgusted with people like you. Direct talks: take it or leave (it)! No other option for you. You are too insignificant to threaten anybody. Least of all God's own people.
8. be patient dear jihadists
Marcel ,   Florida   (02.19.11)
You don't have to protest against the U.S. They will again stab Israel in the back to appease you. This is how the final solution peace game is played. The U.S can't afford to awaken the sleeping Jews to the peril they are in so keep faking the peace for U.S.
9. Arabs should not forget 1948 when they ignored UN partition
(02.19.11)
10. General assembly ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.19.11)
You , arabs , were the ones who did'nt obey the general assembly's partition plan from 1947 . You were the ones who contrary to UN rules attacked Israel in order to destroy the Jewish country . When your mothers will love their children more than they hate our's , then we will have peace here .
11. US asked the Palis to tone down the resolution
Tahl   (02.19.11)
When the Palis stubbornly refused, the US had no choice but to use its veto power. Palis should blame themselves.
12. Organized rage to deflect anger at dictator
Abbas is a dictator ,   just like Mubarak   (02.19.11)
13. Day of rage
Sagi   (02.19.11)
The only things that the Arabs know are rage, killing, maiming, torture, flogging, humiliation. If they tried instead a little peace and human dignity towards their fellow beings then their entire life would change. They live, act and react the way they do because of the paradigm in which they exist which is the result of the teachings of Islam from its very inception and the masterful way in which their leaders, both temporal and spiritual, warp, twist and control their minds.
14. another *yawn* day of rage
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.19.11)
there are so many of these things i can't keep up with them all.
15. There needs to be a ..World Day of Rage against
RJBH ,   Methil   (02.19.11)
US double Standards... "Change You Can Believe in"... Sadly Clinton/Obama has turned it into...'More of the Same'... Bush /Chenney might just as well be in power. The US will Reap as it Sows.
16. The resolution was already adopted
Larry ,   London, England   (02.19.11)
by 14 votes to none with 1 abstention (USA) on 20 July 1979. UNSC 452 states: Considering that the policy of Israel in establishing settlements in the occupied Arab territories has no legal validity and constitutes a violation of the Geneva Convention, Drawing attention to the grave consequences which the settlements policy is bound to have on any attempt to reach a peaceful solution in the Middle East, Calls upon the Government and people of Israel to cease, on an urgent basis, the establishment, construction and planning of settlements in the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem.
17. What right do they have to rage?
noa ,   israel   (02.19.11)
Does the world owe them democracy on a platter? Who are they to define democracy when they have never practiced it? Kristalnacht over again. The only ones that should be enraged should be Jews, Israelis and especially Americans.
18. Time Israelis had a "Day of Rage" against the Palestinians!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.19.11)
The Palestinians have killed, maimed and brutalized thousands of Israelis including children and they have the gall to want a "Day of Rage"? The Libyans, Algerians, Bahrainis and who knows how many more have killed and wounded hundreds if not thousands and all the UN can think about is bashing Israel! What the hell is Israel doing in the UN? It should be called the AIBO - Arab Israel Bashing Organization! The question that must be asked is if pressure had not been put on President Barrack Hussein Obama to veto the "Resolution" or would he had followed the Arab lines as did our "Friends" - UK, France, China and Russia, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal and India. When are the Jews of the World going to get up on the hind legs and start reconsidering investments in the countries that support Israel Bashing?
19. Shame
Alberto ,   São Paulo   (02.19.11)
Mrs Obama had the chance to change the retoric, but he showed everyboy that he is the more of the same!! I am really ashamed. Illegal construction it is not the justice. To break the wall and build a house in the neighbor backyard it is a crime. It is the same one.
20. Oh, please
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.19.11)
If the ersatz "Palestinians" want a day of rage, why don't they rage against their corrupt leadership? That would be nice. They have no quarrel against Israel. That said, they had better be really careful. I know that they are no better than children throwing a tantrum, but they need to be really, really careful. Israel has had more than enough of their nonsense.
21. Netanyahu is not Olmert
Joe Harkins ,   Lower Askam USA   (02.19.11)
Dear Palestinians, Be very careful.
22. Fatah & the PLO were not voted in the democratic elections!
Abdul   (02.19.11)
Hamas won! Fatah & the PLO are like Mubarak = dictators!
23. Rage, Rage, Rage
Dr Yeruham Leavitt ,   Kiriat Arba, ISRAEL   (02.19.11)
All they know is rage, anger. Look at the photos of their demonstrations all over the world. It is almost as if the same photo. No calm reason, No calm intelligence.
24. Cut off all economic aid to the palestinian occupiers of....
American Taxpayer   (02.19.11)
Judea and Samaria! jordan is the real palestine! the "king" of jordan is the one in jordan that isnt a palestinian!
25. Abbas = Mubarak
David   (02.19.11)
26. Forget the Palestinians! Look out Israel, a war with Iran &
Rivkah   (02.19.11)
Egypt is about to erupt. The ELS Torah code matrix on the Iranian war ships passing through the Suez Canal has the following words in the matrix: "Suez Canal, Iran, Surely ye shall not come into the land, Egypt, Israel, Go out to war." Nuclear weapons will be used since Scriptures say Elam (Western Iran) will be destroyed with a destroying wind and Egypt will become uninhabitable for forty years which indicates nuclear war. The people of Elam will have to migrate to other nations, it will be so terrible.
27. UN veto
David Kross ,   Columbia (MD) USA   (02.19.11)
This UN mess is the result of Obama's stupid decision to pressure Israel to stop building in the territories and most objectionably in Jerusalem. The Palestinians are now inspired to avoid direct negotiations and seek to have a state handed to them by a compliant world. Watching Rice apologize for doing the right things should give American Jews further pause about voting for Obama in 2012; he's poison.
28. They should offered the PLO something new then
David Knowles ,   CHIGWELL   (02.19.11)
They were not ask to tone down the resolution, they were asked to abandon it, for something completly different an far less powerful. Abbas, according to my source actually ask Obarma for alternative plan, Obarma came back with nothing but threats to pull funding for the PLO and the same plans the Palestinians have heard all before. Abbas had no not option but to go through with the UN resolution. If the US had come up with a new plan, a new way to achieve peace an a country for the Palestians then Abbas would have called off the vote, the US did not an seem to have no plans at all to get the peace negotiations back on. The Palestians have called the American on there threats to cut off funding, now we shall see if they follow through with. I have also heard that China an EU an other Arabs nations have already told Abbas that they would cover any cuts in Funding from the US an with the US already loosing influence across the region everyone expect Obarma threats to be all but empty, unless he wants to loose yet a other ally in the region.
29. It Israel that got to be careful
David Knowles ,   CHIGWELL   (02.19.11)
An Netanyahu is the one that needs to be careful. If he does anything to harsh to the Palestinians, he may just start a other full scale war with the Egyptians an many her other allies. Remember the Arabs may not like there leaders, but the absolutely hate Israel with Passion.
30. Reduce the deficit!!! Throw the UN out of NY!!!
American Taxpayer   (02.19.11)
