Another lying Arab Dictator trying to secure a legacy for his offspring. Who will Assad bomb when his people demand his demise? Time for the UN Human Rights Council to pay attention
2. HA,HA.HA special inspection? of whom?
observer ,   Egypt   (02.24.11)
The IAEA has the right to inspect only declared facilities and to verify the ABSENCE, NOT the PRESENCE, of undeclared activities IN countries who signed the NPT. On September 18, 2009 the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency called on Israel to open its nuclear facilities to IAEA inspection and adhere to the non-proliferation treaty. Israel, a non-signatory of the NPT, has to be submitted to the inspection of any UNDECLARED facility; a mandatory special inspection as Israel is NOT protected as per treaty.

6. IF ISRAEL CAN...
Ricardo Macher ,   Karne Shomron IL   (02.24.11)
Why Syria can't have a nuclear instalation? Why can't Jordan? Israel is not better than anyone in the neighbourhood. Let's leave the Syrians leave their lives in peace. If we don't attack them, they will not attack us.
7. #6 Ricardo. You pathetical, ignorant, naive fool!

tom ,   tel aviv   (02.24.11)
9. Why would Syria have defenders?
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (02.24.11)
Whenever a story like this breaks we always get the same responses from the same people, First, some sort of glee and rationalizations why the IAEA has no right to go there and check it out. Second, that the story is fake, either Israel or USA are making it up. Third, some glee or happiness that they are getting away with it. But the real concern should be, can these sorts of people and governments be trusted with WMD, period. All you have to do ask yourself one question. Will the world be safer place with these sorts of governments in possession of these weapons? Yes or No. Israel has nothing to do with that question, and shouldn't be used as a diversion. Answer that question, and there's is the problem. The answer is NO that cannot.
10. #6: You are...........
Israeli 2   (02.24.11)
WRONG! Israel IS better than anyone in the neighborhood....dare I say the world. Says whom? The entire world says so. You seem to have a dimensional shift problem...run back to your black hole...fast.
11. I wonder, what do the apologists to the Muslim-Arab cause...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.24.11)
...say, and how do they justify attempting to put pressure on us, Israelis, to lower our guard in the face of a country that is part of the Iran-Hizballah-IslamicJihad-Hamas-Syria coalition whose declared goal is to wipe the tiny UN member state of Israel off the face of earth...??!!

14. Can anyone explain to me
Ricardo Macher ,   Karne Shomron IL   (02.24.11)
Why Pakistan can have nukes? Why India can have nukes? Why North Korea can have nukces? Why Israel can have nukes? ... And Syria or Iran cannot? Please spare me from comments like: "Iran wants to destroy Israel" or "They are rogue countries".

18. #9: Your village mentality
Sarjoun ,   Kfar Molhed   (02.24.11)
Israel and Americans suppose everyone else should take their assumptions for granted. It IS a real concern when Israel has WMD (Daimona reactor) with its government that is not so slowly but steadily being dominated by right wing extremist and lunatics the like of BB, Lieberman and even worse also the society is having a growing influence of religious self righteous groups that tend to be violent with "others" more over Israel continue to alienate itself from its surrounding, just to enforce the reality that it is alien trouble making body: what do we expect in case Israel was cornered? Israel will use its Samson choice and they have a track record of alleged crimes against humanity (there was always many excuses: self defense blabla) but it happened phosphorus, napalm, cluster bombs, targeting civilians..in fact one can only draw parallels between Ghadafi and IDF/IAF. So it is Israel that needs to be inspected and pressured and monitored to prevent major human atrocities
19. Isaiah 17:1
ynr   (02.24.11)
The count down to Isaiah chapter seventeen verse one is on. The system looks good. T Minus x seconds and counting...
20. #14; Ricardo, Yes I can
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (02.24.11)
First, the less governments that have them the safer the world is, right? Both Pakistan and North Korea have been nothing but trouble since they acquired them. Pakistan was recently caught sharing the Technology with who? Wasn't it Iran? What made the strategy (M.A,D.; Mutual Assured Destruction) between Russia and the USA, work to prevent a nuke war, during the cold war from the 1950's till the present day? I'll answer that for you, because you seem dull witted. Nobody wanted to destroy the world, and take us back to the dark ages. Both countries didn't have a "culture of death" mentality. With countries like Iran or Syria, that isn't the case, is it? They would gladly give the nukes to terrorist groups to use in the USA, Israel or any Western ally for that matter, and then lie about it. Second, radical Islam has a death culture mentality (i.e. suicide bombers, killing their own on a regular basis etc.). In their view, it would be OK to bring down the modern world, if it meant they could rule the planet. In fact they love that idea. Is that who you want to control nukes? Third, Israel has already proved to be a responsible steward of nukes, since they have had them for over 40 years, Without giving out the technology, or the nukes themselves to terrorists. So the question is: Do you really trust Iran and Syria to safeguard the nukes from terrorist groups? Frankly, your question is surprisingly stupid, well maybe not surprisingly.
21. Nobody found Saddam's nukes
Raphael ,   Netranya   (02.24.11)
So Arab lovers asserted they did not exist, despite the destruction of Tammuz reactor in 1981 by Israel and Saddam's sons in laws' explanations. And suddenly, nuclear installations reappear in the neighbouring country who never had previously any such activity, a weak economy and no known nuclear technicians. A coincidence?
22. just occure to me, if Israel will bomb those
ghostq   (02.24.11)
places and get ride of the tyrant Assad in the same strike it will do good to its image. ti hi.

24. Satellite images: 4 nuclear sites found in Syria...
Marco ,   Spain   (02.24.11)
I wonder if those same satellite images are blind when it comes to Israel's nuclear activities...
25. The IAEA and NPT is a joke, nobody abides by their ruiles
Yishai Kohen ,   USA   (02.24.11)
Who cares if Syria violated the NPT, everyone ignores it, including, and most glaringly, the USA. The NPT is voluntary and any signatory can opt out at any time, and since the US has not kept its own obligations an uses it merely as a political tool, nobody cares any more. Iran, Syria and all other nations seeking to develop nuclear technology should simply opt out of the NPT and do what ever they want just like India, Israel and Pakistan do today. The NPT is irrelevant if not everyone is forced to sign it or abide by its principals equally..
