when it confronts islamic madness and the insanity and intolerance of muslims. Muslims are now clamoring for freedom. Does it mean that Jews in those countries will have FREEDOM from islamic assault
2. islamic freedom
real vision ,   usa   (02.24.11)
Let's all hope that all the turmoil in the arab world will turn these islamic/arab countries into a democratic secular state where islam and sharia laws DO NOT RULE. Otherwise these so called revolutions toward democracy is pure bolony.Islam and democracy are opposite
3. The world has been silent, but not the Israeli Arab leaders
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.24.11)
who ascended to Tripoli in order to bow down and kiss the hands of the Libyan dictator... Today they are silent, or rather attempt to deflect attention to them for their shameful behavior with regard to their champion of human rights...!!
5. UNITED NATIONS= 56 Nation Muslim Bloc, 22 Nation Arab Bloc
Observer ,   Europe   (02.24.11)
against 1 Jewish country. The stench of the UN reaks to high heaven while the morality of the world is in major question in Libya, Egypt, Indonesia, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Burma, China, Russia, England,(falkland islands) and on and on yet when Israel shoots a terrorist its slapped with condemnation.... UN=needs to be disbanded and started over with equal provisions for everyone, democrat and communist, secualr and religious...basic things like freedom of worship, like freedom to retain sovereignty, freedom to defend itself, freedom to fight terror,
6. 4 - "In our eyes..."; who cares what you think?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.24.11)
the world from your eyes has no bearing to reality, so you can go on being an apologist for terror and your gang of brothers comprising the majority of rogue states. we here in the civilized world will stand against you & your ilk every time.

As usual, the Palistininians got it wrong. When they danced in the streets and handed out candies in response to the murder of innocents on 911 - this is an example of their wharped sense of justice or fairness. Over the past 62 years there have been many opportunities for the Palistinians to have a state - but true to form they missed them all. If you consider all the anti-semetic filth that the government controlled press has fed their people across the arab world for the last 60 years; it is no wonder that the arabs are trapped in a cycle of repression and hatred, When the Israelis pulled out of Gaza did the arabs there work to build a country; build a school; build a hospital; build a road - anything? No. Just destroy the beautiful greehouuses that were left for them and feed the mantra of "Kill the Jews". Blame the Jews. We can't build a society - there are Jews in the world. I'm no fan of the current Israeli leadership and I wish for the day that a 2-state soultion will come to furuition; but the arab, Palistinian, and Muslim mindset is and has been abhorent.
8. There was a good reason in 2003
Danny   (02.24.11)
It ended Libya's nuclear weapons programme and helped break the AQ Khan network. Imagine a Libya with nukes and ask again if the policy of the last 8 years was that crazy. That said the UN embrace of Qaddafi shows what a cesspit it became.

Jorge el judio ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (02.24.11)
According to the declaration of Balfour and the treaty of San Remo Italy, the Jewish were entitled to have a Jewish homeland. In 1923 arabs grabbed 78% of the historical land of Israel. If at that time the State of Israel was born, all the Jewish suffering could have been avoided. Unfortunately the arabs denied that right and made the Jewish waited for 26 to have 1/2 of the lands that the promised Jewish homeland. In 1948, 5 arab armies attempted to destroy the new country. Is it now a shame?
11. the UN is a festering boil on the New York skyline

As I have said before, the UN is a festering boil on the New York skyline. Heaven only knows why the New York citizens put up with this putrid mess in their city.

Not, when it comes to oil & money. Now, the 'settelments, thats another story, there we can push to 'clear our concience, to show how 'human and rightious we are. This world 'leaders are a nauseating bunch.
14. United Nations Human Rights Commission
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.24.11)
Why be surprised that Libya is on the United Nations Human Rights Commission? All countries on the commission deserve each other. They do not, however, deserve recognition from anyone else.
15. to #4 Israel exist more than 62 years
ghostq   (02.24.11)
actually it is the third time in the area, how ever arabs never had state around Israel area, and the other states around Israel (except Egypt) r mandatory fack colonialism made, just over night those state created by french or British, states that got no reall past, just random picking of bedouin tribe as sole ruller. those r facts.
16. #11 Good question. Many of us are working for defunding the
Claudia ,   Tampa USA   (02.24.11)
UN. With the huge block of arab states it has become useless, and a forum for extremist, Islamic views that defeat it's original purpose. It does nothing to bring peace and freedom in the world and it nothing more than a rancid blot of graft, corruption and expense account spending. Considering the dire fiscal condition of the US, my tax dollars will be better spent supporting allies like Israel, not the PA or the UN, and Hamas that hate us and Israel.
17. #7 Correct your information
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.24.11)
1. The terrorist act 9/11 was strongly condemned by every single Palestinian organization , A small group is shown celebrating " We too have some psychiatric patients ignorant of what happened" this does not mean in any way that the majority of the Palestinians felt 9/11 Attack was something to be happy about. 2. FYI, Gaza remains under occupation, "Israel" has redeployed its troops around gaza. 3. We have nothing against the Jews, our battle is only with the occupation.
18. Salma #4
Jennifer ,   Jerusalem   (02.24.11)
you don't miss a beat do you..even a tyrant like Kaddafi, who everybody bar none is admitting to his insanity, you have to have a say against Israel. You are so blind, you can't see the wood for the trees. You are so ignorant, you don't reallize that what you write shows you up for the fool that you really are. I'd be embarrassed at this point if I were you!

20. Just Curse Iran
shizler ,   USA   (02.24.11)
shows the only reason all the rhetoric on Iran is because of their persistence on doing things on their own and not giving the world money. its not about morals, its about money and corporations, and power. obviously.

22. Attitude to lybia
Ibrahim el-Awal ,   Dearborn, Michigan   (02.24.11)
While the despicable atrocities in Libya and Iran on going President Obama is sending Mrs. Clinton next Monday to UN Human Rights where Libya is one of the human rights watch dogs... President Obama was bashing US partners, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan and Israel. For many years Israel was alerting US administrations to the dire poverty, violation of human rights, virulent anti Semitism and anti Americanism in Egypt, Tunisia. Yet US administrations have focused on Israel and the few houses built in disputed territory. While the volcano is erupting US, UN, NYT, allocated more energy more space more attention to an irrelevant issue, Plaestine Israel conflict, which proved to be no part of the Middle East Tsunami. An army of reporters in New York Times, one example, Friedman, Kristof, Krugman, Cohen, Bronner, Kirshner did put Israel on their daily menu and for years not addressed the plight of the Arab masses under brutal dictatorships. Ironical.

24. Please respond to this SALMA from imaginary land Thank you
Yaniv Levi ,   USA   (02.24.11)
1. 9/11 may have been condemened as the statement, but actions are stronger then words....(it wasnt just a small group, there was a huge majority.) 2. FYI, Gaza is run by an internationally recognized terror orginization, but is not occupied, there is a difference between occupied and blocaded, you said so yourself "Gaza remains under occupation, Israel has redeployed its troops around gaza." keyword around not in. Even if Israeli troops were in Gaza, Israel is at war against the leaders of Hamas which control Gaza, so please tell me how that is in anyway illegal (every war except the cold war is fought with one force going into another countries' land....) 3. Nothing against the Jews....Hamas' motto "we love death as much as Israel loves life"....ya true not all of you are Hamas, but how do you fight a group with that mindset. FYI what occupation, you are stuck in a cycle of lies, do you realize that no where in the history of the world was a people called palestinians, it is a made up name to place people that the entire world does not want into a land which doesn't belong to the people who are trying to give it away. And just to throw this out there, the two countries that have had peace with Israel, Egypt and Jordan, have had their economy boosted during the times of peace, so basically beggars cannot be choosers, take what you have make a state and be happy with what you have the greed of the muslim world can be seen when the little people who should be getting royalties from the oil in their countries don't get anything and now they finally are revolting against the greedy leaders. Thanks for reading a response would be nice....you dont have to though i understand making up stuff gets tiring after a while

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.24.11)
Give it a rest, Salma. You are beating a dead horse. The ersatz "Palestinians" have failed to take advantage to take advantage of an opportunity on each and every occasion an opportunity presented itself. The world has moved on; there are more important things to deal with than a noisome gaggle of violent, quarrelsome terrorists with an unparalleled record of blood on their hands. Given the ersatz "Palestinian" uncivilized behavior for seven decades, conducted on a global scale, do you wonder why civilized society greets your endless whining about having had no help from the "civilized world" with bemusement, derision and scorn? The situation of the ersatz "Palestinians" -- for which only the ersatz "Palestinians" are to blame -- is a ship that has sailed. The world has washed its hands of you. It is time for you to move on.
26. The U.N. is a social club for the likes of Gadaffi.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.24.11)
The article is on target about Gadaffi. Although Gadaffi is more notorious than most tyrants and terrorists regularly honoured at the U.N., he is definitely among friends at this despicable institution. In fact, the U.N. is basically a social club for the likes of Gadaffi. Gadaffi and his fellow terrorists and tyrants play their games at the enormous expense of hapless Free World taxpayers.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.24.11)
Indeed. In fact, they postulated a "Palestinian" state organized along the Libyan model. (Well, no one could ever accuse Tibi of being an intellectual.) Let's send him back there, so he can take close notes and render a first-hand account!

1. Give it a rest. We've all seen the first-hand news account, the live videos captured throughout the Arab areas of the West Bank and throughout Gaza. What we saw was news reports of Jews queuing at hospitals and hundreds of Kupat Holim clinics for HOURS, waiting to give blood; what we saw was celebration and rejoicing throughout the Arab communities -- in Israel, in Judea and Samaria, and in Gaza. 2. Do you know the difference between occupation and guarding a border? As long as terrorists in Gaza continue to fire missiles and mortars into Israeli civilian population centers, the IDF will deploy troops along the border. 3. There is no occupation. The ersatz "Palestinians" are squatters in land to which they have no right, title or claim. As for your allegation that you have "nothing against the Jews," I would ask you to account for why so many terrorist attacks have been carried out against non-Israeli Jews -- in Argentina, in the United States, in Europe; and against non-Israeli Jews studying in Israel and visiting Israel as tourists. Face it, bubbeleh -- you have lost the battle. Think of it this way: seventh game, bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, two out, down by a run, three/two count -- the ersatz "Palestinians" swing and miss! Game over. Pack your trash; you're going home.
29. #24. Let Salma pretend to live in fictional "Palestine".
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.24.11)
#24. I fully understand your frustration with Salma and other "Palestinian" poseurs who seek to steal our Homeland in the name of a fictional people and fictional state, which never existed. However, the likes of Salma aren't worth the emotional toll. Let Salma pretend to live in fictional "Palestine". Let us massively claim, settle, defend and love Judea and Samaria. Let us raise our Jewish population, in Judea and Samria, above 1,000,000. Salma's delusions are her problem. Not ours.
