Hunt S. Cross ,   England   (03.03.11)

14. What Amity?
Devorah   (03.03.11)
As long as the vatis cana refuses to return the temple treasures, there is not, nor should there be, anything resembling amity. Israel should not play nice with this pope anymore than it should play nice with Obama and Islam. Oil and water just do not mix.

Where did you get that garbage? Have you never read Scripture? Several Arab nations descend directly from Abraham through his second wife Hagar/Keturah. The lady you referred to was the (only) wife of Moses.
16. #9, Sami...The whole story line of the
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (03.03.11)
Gospels is ANTISEMITIC...just read them...this is the story: The "evil" Jews killed the poor Jesus...VERY complicated indeed...even the most primitive and barbaric retards got it into their minds and acted accordingly...
17. 16 Read them, not seeing what you claim is there
Sami   (03.03.11)
Are you saying that what the New Testament describes about Jesus' killing is not possible historically, or is Antisemitic by virtue of the story being present? By that measure much of the Tanach is Antisemitic too. I'd say that primitive minds do not need much of a pretext, like the religious guy who tried to murder the child of the Messianic guy in Ariel or the religious guys who gunned down Arabs in Hebron and Shefaram. That's not a winning argument.
18. Does that mean Islamists will appologize for it antisemitism

19. Unfinished business.
Danny Maccabee ,   Vancouver, Canada   (03.03.11)
I'm a convert to Reform Judaism, with Jewish ancestors on my father's side. Dad and the rest of his family moved to the US from Quebec as Catholics in 1928. Four generations ago, my patrilineal ancestors converted to Catholicism to end anti-Semitic persecution by Catholics, something Catholics forced many Jews were forced to do throughout history. I was the one who turned it all around. I have no regrets about my decision to reconcile my lineage to the Jewish faith, even if Orthodox Jews don't consider patrilineal Jewish ancestry as legitimate. What do they know? All I can say is that I am right where I want to be and need to be. And no one, Catholic or otherwise, has a right to challenge it.
20. Jewish-Christian Dialogue
Alan Hoffman ,   East Windsor, NJ USA   (03.04.11)
As an Orthodox Jew, I have followed this dialogue movement closely for 10 years and call a certified Catholic Cathechist a friend. Our personal, 10 year dialogue has been honest. But what it has shown me are the limits of dialogue, recalling Rav Soloveichik's cautionary words in 1964. This allows peaceful cooperation in social matters, but little integration in organic issues. The goal of far too many "dialoguers" is not rapproachmont, but opening up Jews to "another viewpoint" with little rationale offered that flies in the face of their claims for "knowledge" of how Judaism is part of their identity. The facts of history are stark. 40 years of dialogue do not cancel out 1,900 years of oppression - and as news often shows, religious animosity persists in huge numbers. One sided statements about Israel's rights, necessity and integrity do not appear fact based or fair calling into question Christian motives. Beyond all of that noise are the functional asymmetries: 2 billion Christians have far too many anti-semities to make a mere 13 million Jews feel like anti-semitism has been soundely or in the majority, defeated; Christian lack of learning of their own sordid histories (beyond the few scholars), which Jews tend to know better, do not create a sense of justice or balance to evangelical tendancies; Christian missionary and political and evangelical negative activity towards Jews, and is seen by Jews as religious based anti-semitism because it is based on supersessionism; and finally Christianity claims to be a universal religion with no functional nationality or ethnicity, while Judaism is inherently and foundationally based on Jewish nationality and peoplehood. All of these asymmetries in understanding prevent acceptance and tolerance of religious differences and calls into question Jewish persistance in surviving as a people, a nation, a religon, with religious dimensions not included in other monotheistic faiths Jewish civilization has been re-established, a Jewish value system exists with an eternal covenantal nature. This is what dialogue cannot deal with" Jewish particularism, Jewish religious/national/ethnic foundations, and a very, long memory, with ample reason for suspicion. Since suspicion has not been adequately laid to rest, what can be expected?
21. #18 shame on you
(03.04.11)
yes, moslims must apologize for anti semitism moslims must apologize for Olocaust denial moslims must apologize for all the hate and wars towards cristians and jews during the centuries ORDERED BY THE CORAN. Islam must accept and respect the other faiths, there is no other way if they want us to accept them. The problem is islam so let's solve it.
22. @19
Yoni ,   Toronto Ontario   (03.04.11)
If you truly feel that Judaism is the place that you were meant to be I would encourage you to seek an orthodox conversion. This is not just some orthodox plot this is the way that Jews have been passing down the tradition for thousands of years. If you really want to turn that line of antisemitism around and to respect your paternal heritage that is the way to do it.
23. Andrew, Philadelphia

I don't know why the Pope used to talk in the name of Catholics. In fact, most of them were baptised in their very first time of their lives, but, among them, there are lot of atheists and Churches are still used by tradition : Baptisme, First communion, confirmation, wedding, funeral... and the best are: Christmasts and Easters for paid hollidays...

Luiz Felipe Haddad   (03.05.11)
What is your name? I don't know. But I am sure that your intolerance and lack of basic courtesy is intolerable. People like you don't favor a better democratic and pluralistic world. Please, think more about it.
