1. Still Mr.Costello enjoys frequent play on the various radio-
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.05.11)
stations in Israel, 'cause The Jew got no Pride!! Ain't that the truth?! We grovel in front of benign and not so beningn culture-maganates just for the privilege of having their gaze cast upon us! I can understand kissing ass for money: now that's something The Jew understands all too well, right again ??!!! -(you antisemites out there probably love this rant of mine)
2. If bieber really does come, i will be a belieber!
dave ,   uk/rsa   (03.05.11)
3. He may not tell TelAviv from Tashkent.
Dr. Honey ,   Gaza   (03.05.11)
But he certainly can tell right from wrong, which matters most really.
4. Well they failed in the other two boycotts
Danny   (03.05.11)
and are having a very very mixed success in these ones as well.
5. WHO NEEDS CULTURE AND SHOWS?
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (03.05.11)
Who cares about these foreign stars? Who cares about one or two songs played for seculars in Tel Aviv. If the price to have half idiots singing for a bunch of seculars in HaAyarkon is to relinquish Samaria, no thanks. We lived without culture expressions in the diaspora and we will live without them in Eretz Yisrael. Our artist is G-D. That's what matters.
6. The campaign is lead by those hoping to see Israel erased
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (03.05.11)
all together and not those oppose to this or other policy of Israel's elected government. People who call: From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free are not critical of policies; they are rather critical of Israel's very existence. And these are the people objecting to the cultural exchange that takes place among people and peoples. They are are not interested in peaceful coexistence; they are only interested in the peace that comes after the death, the death of the tiny nation-state of the Jewish people in this case.
7. According to recent history..
Mea   (03.05.11)
it should be a breeze for Hollywood to organize anti-semiticism on a grand scale. It has been seeping to the surface quite a lot lately among celebrities, hasn't it? How perfectly surprising, not. Mel Gibson must be delighted at this turn of events. He'll probably lead the whole thing, huh? Say maybe that jerk Carlos Estavas from tv will co- host.
8. Boycotters do not buy these artists music anyway
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (03.05.11)
These boycotters do not make a compelling story - they are not the target audience nor purchasers of the artists being boycotted.
9. #1 tom tel aviv
05.03.2011   (03.05.11)
Only a complete idiot could "love" what you have to say. Get a grip tom, you're way off-line. I feel sorry that people like you are allowed to breathe God's gift of good Israeli fresh air. Come to that --- any country's good fresh air. You're one of the poor 'things' of this God given land.
10. Ricardo @ 5
Believer   (03.05.11)
AMEN Ricardo
11. The PR is likely more damaging than the boycotts
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (03.05.11)
The boycotts do little direct damage except to Israel's pride but Israel seems to have lost the PR battle in the EU and S. America. The settlement issue seems to be a lost cause on the world stage and while US support is still strong for Israel, its down to less than 50% on the settlements now. Can Israel separate from the settlements without starting a civil war or is Israel willing to gamble all to continue them?
12. ignorance?
(03.05.11)
'Israel accuses boycott advocates of capitalizing on artists' ignorance.' isn't this the same technique that AIPAC has been using in the states for the past several decades?! In this case, we would be talking about the ignorance of ordinary americans. well, seems like these so called leftists/palestinians groups are finally catching up.
13. The irony of Eytan Schwartz's slur
lol ,   Tashkent   (03.05.11)
He doubts whether the Bieber lad could tell the difference between Tel Aviv and Tashkent on a map. Why he chooses such an insult is beyond me, but he then makes an allusion to not blaming the boy for Iraq. The kid's a Canuck. Time to get a new atlas Eytan.
14. Ricardo . Who needs an inexisting "artist" ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.05.11)
And .....writing a tb on Shabbat is not allowed to you hypocrite !
15. BDS
Isaac Barr MD ,   Detroit, USA   (03.05.11)
The volcano eruption in the streets of North African countries and the Middle East has little motivation by the Palestinian Israel conflict. Rather it was a revolt against poverty and brutal dictatorships. The emphasis on the Palestinian Israel conflict was done to give the Arab masses an external enemy diverting attention from the dire "inside" problems. The vast global attack on Israel, "Zionist" and Jews, the dealing of the "plight" of the a few Palestinians cannot be match the sufferings of hundreds of millions of Arabs who live in far worse circumstances than the Gazans. These masses were totally ignored by the BDS crowd. The global attack on the right of Israel to exist is very much the work of Israeli academia, Be'tselem and alike who use it frequently as a self serving instrument to get money, funds, publications and noteraiety as it happened with Ilan Pappe now professor at Exeter University in UK which is financed by Qaddafi. These academics use a magnifying glass to explore Israel evils while ignoring gross violations in Muslim lands such as execusion of 64 people in Iran in last three months because they were dissidents or gay. As long as Israel will not solve the violent vicious attacks on Israel by some Israeli academics such as Neve Gordon global BDS will threaten the existance of the Jewish state no less than Hamas or Hizballah.
16. Boycott is spreading
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (03.05.11)
Soon, no one who is decent will trade or have dealings with the Zionist state in any way, shape, or form. Your illegal entity may well wither on the vine and collapse without the need for war and its attendant bloodshed and property damage. Go, BDS!!!
17. Ofer Neiman, please explain "Historic Palestine"!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (03.05.11)
Palestine did not exist until the Six Day War brought on by the belligerence and murder of Jews by Arabs! So please tell us what is historic about Palestine. Yes, if you and others who hate Israel want to go back to the June 1967 borders please tell the Palestinians, who have killed thousands of our people over the years by murder and terror, that they will be returned to their "rightful" and "just" place - Jordan! After their rightful return they can demand that the Jordanians give them independence and I am sure that the "real" Lebanese people would only be too happy if their "Palestinians", today Hezbollah, went back to Jordan too!
19. culture boycott encouraged
moron ,   galut   (03.05.11)
by isralis accetance of insults..nothing will appease left and the arabs and kow-towing to them only whets their appetites..do like umberto eco--do not show fear
20. Are they using threats?
manicdrummer ,   Madison, WI, USA   (03.05.11)
Are they threatening these entertainers to get them to go along with the boycott? So many are hopping on the bandwagon that threats are the only possible explanation.
21. graczek , boycott your computer !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.05.11)
as he contains Israeli developped and produced parts . You have to boycott Intel and Microsoft , both have RD here and produce . Boycott also your HP printer , most likely also developped here . The first internet security was also developped here , by three young Israelis . You see , you , nor anybody can live without our products .
22. STUPID BDS - STUPID BOYCOTT
yael ,   meitar, Israel   (03.05.11)
Boycotting ISrael is absolutely stupid as well as unfair. I suggest that the BDS supporters & Mr. Neiman & his friends find a good shrink to help them with serious self loathing and narrow mindedness. I am not a Justin Bieber fan (wrong generation), but I hope he comes & performs here & then on to Tashkent!
23. very civil
yael ,   israel   (03.05.11)
you must be a real peace loving person...... but have no fear long before Israel ; the Zionist entity disappears, you will be living in a Shaaria State. That will be lots of fun
24. Part of a war
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.05.11)
The problem with the article is that it has no context. There is a war: the Jews want to have self-determination in their historical homeland and the Arabs openly declare that they want to exterminate the Jews. BDS is part of that war, nothing more. It is particularly effective because it is lead by highly-paid Jewish Israeli professors like Rachel Giora and Anat Matar of Tel Aviv.
25. #16
Howard ,   USA   (03.05.11)
After reading your commnet I beleive that it is mental illness and hatred that are spreading. Many of these aritists that are boycotting Israel would not be welocmed let alone able to perform in most Arab/Muslim countires!I also would like to see you try and start a church in one those countries. You are a hate filled moron.
26. #16 You have it backwards, abu-graczek
Cynthia ,   USA   (03.05.11)
The decent people will trade and have dealings with Israel. The racists and misguided will hide behind the boycott.
27. BDS this
BH ,   Iowa   (03.05.11)
Israel's economic growth for 2010 was 4.9% of GNP. Keep it up!
28. #3 - which is why he may not play for "Palestinians"
William ,   Israel   (03.05.11)
Once the illegal ethnic cleansing of 1948 by Arabs and the illegal occupation and theft of land by Arabs between 1948-1967....maybe "Palestinians" would be a place of moral high-ground to comment.... I don't hold that same hope for the lemmings in Gaza.
29. Boycott! because it can help Israelis
Naomi ,   Jerusalem   (03.06.11)
Boycott! because it can help Israelis look more truthfuly at what their governments are doing and decide to come out against it.
30. "until rule of law, justice in historic Palestine"
William ,   Israel   (03.05.11)
So many wrongs in that sentence. 1) There is rule of law in the West Bank and it does include laws against theft, terrorism, belonging to terrorist groups, extortion, and kidnapping.... The "Palestinians" have broken every single one regularly. 2) Justice.... What justice are they referring to when the land "Palestinians" demand for their own State was ethnically cleansed from its Jewish owners, in E. Jerusalem, Hebron, Beit El, Jericho, Shehem, etc.? 3) He's intellectual dishonest when referring to "historic Palestine". The historic Palestine is a province in Syria. The "Palestine" of today was never autonomous, never had a unique population called "Palestinians (except Jews who were referred to as such). And such a "Historic Palestine" as Leftists often claim include Jordan and parts of Syria. Where is the UN?
