3. Whenever you read Hawkish views or

Extreme views, we know that means one thing. That the man will put Israel first when it come to defense. So typically that person gets stereotyped as a right wing ideologue. Why? That is exactly who you want in that position. What Israel doesn't need is somebody with the Pollyanna view, if you give the Pals what they want, all will be fine and rosy. Arab history and recent events prove the opposite is true. It emboldens them and they think of your reaction, as weakness. Precisely what Israel doesn't want or need. As we can see from Libya in today's paper "NATO is mulling over" whether to even put up a no fly zone. What that tells you, Israel and the world, is if the Pals don't keep their word or treaty, the world will be extemely slow to respond. So Israel can count on nobody but themselves for defense. That's OK, and is as it should be. So don't bemoan Israel boosting their defensive capabilities by $20 billion dollars. They are not asking anybody to fight for them, just to purchase the weapons to fight with. Unlike the Kuwaiti's who needed the world to fight their battle (Gulf War 1), or Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., Israel will fight and defend themselves.

8. Amidror
Mickey ,   Sydney Australia   (03.09.11)
Amidror may have been a good soldier but his comments about shooting soldiers who refuse to attack are insane and hails back to the first world war. I remember he appeared on an ABC program in Australia some years ago. He was difficult to understand, was over the top in his attitude to the Palestinians (although it was in the period of suicide bombings). I think he is not suitable for the office he has now been given.
9. Good start.

Considering DM Barak's loud mouth and assumption of the office of PM I am surprised that BB had the guts to go with a man not afraid to tell Barak to shut the hell up. That makes two ranking cabinet officers, lst is Ya'alon, that Israel can depend on not to give away more land and whatever concession the Pals think up. With the Arabs states going up in flames Israel can not afford to show anything less than strength & the US should be reinforcing that.
10. Amidror appointment
Colin Linton ,   UK   (03.09.11)
Why is there rarely, if ever, a mention of an appointee that has left-wing or doveish views ?? Is that because there are none or because that's onsidered to be "normal" and OK.
11. His role?
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (03.09.11)
Most likely meaningless as far domestic policies concern.Barak is the one who's calling the shots - unfortunately.
12. To answer Colin's question ...
rnathans00 ,   Washington, DC USA   (03.09.11)
Colin Linton writes, "Why is there rarely, if ever, a mention of an appointee that has left-wing or doveish views ?? Is that because there are none or because that's onsidered to be "normal" and OK." Leftists tend to think they are wise and correct, and liberals (with whom there's considerable overlap), tend to think they are "centrist". So those who dominate the media, and think *they* represent the mainstream won't describe themselves or their friends as leftists. Their only concern is whether they should deem their opponents as right-wing, ultra right, extreme right, or super scary fascists (all of whom are presumed to be raaaaacists).
