So many buildings are not earthquake proof.

I am not sure there is such thing as an earthquake proof building in this country. The way that even the luxury buildings are built on stilts. If not for the sake of earthquakes then for wartime. Developers are these days obligated to build secure rooms in apartments rather than bomb shelters but one explosion you destroy those stiles and the building will loose its stability. As for the Dimona reactor, if we have the money to build missile defense systems to protect against Iranian nuclear weapons which may never happen we need the money to protect our own nuclear reactor against an earthquake which will happen one day. The government has just authorized billions of shekels to be given to the bedouin to settle land disputes. If we have the billions it will take to deal with the bedouin problem then we have the millions it will take to avoid a nuclear disaster of our own making. Lets use this as an excuse to open our eyes protect the nuclear reacttor from earthquakes and change legislation obligating that buildings are designed to withstand earthquakes of at least a medium level. Right now we build cheap on the cheap where design is more important than practicality and sell for a fortune

4. A new reactor is needed,Dimona is dangerous to keep using
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (03.13.11)
All other reactors of Dimona design were shutdown over 20yrs ago. Iran's new LWR will product 20 times the electricity with most if not all the plutonium it products unusable for nukes due to high levels of P-240 and P-241 in it. Dimona is a major source of pride and nukes for Israel being that its a heavy water reactor(type used for all plutonium for nukes) but for electricity its very limited at best with an old and dangerous design.
