UN 181 also declared that there shall not be a "breach of the peace or act of aggression, in accordance with Article 39 of the Charter, any attempt to alter by force the settlement envisaged by this resolution". The ARABS breached the peace [by attacking] and therefore nullified this resolution. Israel declared a state using the armistice lines of 1948 that the ARABS did not accept.
