31. #25 - none of the tunnels are abandoned
William ,   Israel   (03.21.11)
they all make too much money for the so-called poverty stricken Gazans. Flat screen TVs, new cars, viagra, exotic zoo animals, new clothes, and food all cost money.
32. keep him for 5 years underground!!!

33. Israel Shooting Itself In PR Foot Again
World Citizen ,   the world   (03.21.11)
You would think that the law of averages would apply to the decisions of the Israeli government. You would think that at least half of the time they would get something right. But the Bibi government is so out of touch with reality they can't get anything right. The pro-Palestinian factions love these clowns. Every week they do something idiotic and damaging to what is left of Israel's standing in the court of world opinion. Truly Israel is a pariah state.

37. # 21 Elchanan Tanenbaum
Thomas ,   US   (03.21.11)
was an Israeli civilian kidnapped in Dubai by Hizbollah in 2000. So when was kidnapping Israelis outside of Israel off-limits to the Arabs? Im not supporting Israel's actions in this case.but let's not pretend this was beneath what the Arabs would do to Israelis.
38. Sounds like a non-violent response
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (03.21.11)
To Terrorism. You fire rockets and mortars at civilian targets, and we'll disrupt your power plant. Israel has always been creative at responding to Hamas terrorism, murder, attempted murder, collective punishment of the Jewish civilians used a rocket fodder with non-violence. Like increasing building in East Jerusalem this is a brilliant and well thought out non-violent response to Hamas murders. I like it. Unless as Paul Harvey used to say, "and now for the rest of the story", time will tell. BTW, I like the trade Shalit for the engineer idea. Make sure he gets the same treatment as Shalit, no visitors from friends and family, no Red Cross visits. Hamas certainly doesn't have a leg to stand on with a complaint, do they?
39. But the interesting part of this is...
SNS   (03.21.11)
How did we get him out of the Ukraine?
40. Where's Sarah B ?
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.21.11)
See sanforty Sarah , I was right when I belived the engineer's Wife. you and not me who need to get over yourself.
41. Israel can kidnap anyone they want as long as Shalit is held
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.21.11)
42. With thousands of PA prisnrs, why does Israel need one more?
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.21.11)
The answer is, because Hamas/Palestinians don't care enough about their prisoners to reach an exchange deal for Shalit and maybe they will care for this one? It is clear Israel does not know what else to do and is willing to risk its good relations with Ukraine and possibly other countries. Unfortunately, by doing the abduction Israel is playing Hamas's game of terrorism, unfortunately. Hamas can stop this vicious circle of abductions by getting serious negotiations going about the release of the poor soldier Shalit. I have no doubt Israel will negotiate in good faith, but who can it negotiate with?
43. Something Still Very Fishy
superhero ,   Johannesburg   (03.21.11)
So the first part of the riddle has been solved i.e. Mossad did it - but there is still something very fishy that does not make sense: i.e. why was a PA power station manager applying for Ukranian Citezinship? Still doesn't add up.
44. "heart of the only electric station in Gaza"
cardiac pacemaker ,   EU   (03.21.11)
That heart already had trouble pumping enough electricity into Gaza, Hamas now can install a more powerful one, so that the power outtages stop. I mean, they caught him in Ukraine, that's not exactly "on duty" but rather "on vacation", the plant worked obviously without its heart during this time.
45. so now who are the real terrorists?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Marwan ,   Tel Aviv, Palestine   (03.21.11)
whoever kidnaps a civilian engineer from another country in such a manner, is by all international rules A TERRORIST... pure and simple.
46. #6 Shmuel - Boker Tov
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)

BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)

48. # 12 rebecca
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)
Easy answer to your question, two things, extract informmation and then as an exchange for Gilad Shalit, or have you forgotten that he's been held hostage for more than 4 years ?
49. #17 Samy, where have you been ?
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)
Ever hear of Gilad Shalit ? Kidnapped and held hostage for more than four years
50. Ben Alofs #17: With so much time at
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (03.21.11)
your disposal given your remarks on Ynet and Maan, perhaps you could do some real good and volunteer for duty as a physician in Japan where your energy and undoubted skills are actually needed. Perhaps you could go as part of the Hamas delegation since you used to volunteer your medical efforts in Gaza. After all, you wouldn't want the "pirate" state of Israel showing you up given that it (Israel) has already sent geiger counters and a team of physicians as a humanitarian gesture to assist Japan. What do you think, Ben?
51. #45 Marwan, TA ISRAEL
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)
He was hardly a civilian, he wouldn't have been given that responsibility if he weren't a member of Hamas You kidnap ours, we do likewise Your guy will most probably be returned in rather good good Shalit, who knows?,
52. #21 UNCLE SAP
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)
They're already done that when they hijacked planes with Israeli's on board Where have you been for the last 30 or so years ? Or when they took over the Achille Laurao and throw a cripple in his wheelchair over the side, just because he was Jewish You really are ignorant !!
53. #25 Seamongrel
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)

54. #33 World Citizen
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)

55. #42 Michael - easy answer to your Q
BENJABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.11)
Information, to be in charge of the plant he had to be in Hamas Anyway, what one prisoner more or less They have Shalit, we have this bozo
56. Missing so-called Palestian
Lou ,   Rishon le-Zion   (03.21.11)
Keep him, don't let him free. He can only be free if we get Gilad Shalit in exchange. Doesn't matter what the world say, especially the United Nation (Natives). We must be strong and not give in. He must be kept as long as Gilad Shalit is not free.
57. Gilad Shalit is soldier, was fully armed when taken POW

60. To: No. 40
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.21.11)
You were right. The Gazans can have him back for Gilad Shalit. Otherwise -- they can sit in the dark, bubbeleh, just like you. (Except in your case, all the lighting in the world won't help; you'll still be in the dark!)
