1. First SAFE,then SORRY.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.25.11)
That s the right approach.
2. Rather is strongly pro-Arab and I would seach him
Moshe ,   Netanya   (03.25.11)
Otherwise, he would not go to interveiw terrorists. The guy was joke (before he was removed fromTV in US). Totally dishonest dude.
3. ha ha
yahudi ,   eretz yisrael   (03.25.11)
if these "journalists" would stop behaving like enemies, maybe we will stop to treat them like enemies....
4. We're GREAT at making friends!
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (03.25.11)
But if Mr. Rather later said something critical about Israel, he'd--of course--be accused of being anti-Semitic. OMG, this is so pathetic and depressing... What's even worse is that there are dimwits defending this kind of behavior.
5. "Legendary"anchorman?
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (03.25.11)
Rather was fired by C.B.S. for fabricating a story abour President Bush.
6. Don't forget Danny Seaman
Moshe ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.25.11)
Seaman, the Deputy Director General for Information at the Ministry of Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs, has oversight responsibility for the Government Press Office that he once headed. He's obviously continuing the same terrific work he did as the director of the office. Great work, guys. You're really helping Israel. Getting us lots and lots of wonderful publicity!
7. Disgraced Dan Rather all of a sudden becomes
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (03.25.11)
a legendary anchorman? Hah... get him of the Land.
8. 'Legendary anchorman'?
Uri ,   Brussels, Belgium   (03.25.11)
I'm sorry, but the only really 'legendary' anchorman is probably Larry King. I never heard of this guy before. Thus, I hereby unofficially declare him an arrogant, self-entitled crybaby. Stop your whining, seriously.
9. I hope they do that to him again and again and again
AB ,   TheRock   (03.25.11)
10. am I missing something here?
observer   (03.25.11)
This has happened before to Palestinian journalists wanting to meet the same person. They refused the search and called off the interview. Why did the Americans not do the same? Surely that would have made a story in itself back home.
11. The gist of it
Dov ,   Negev   (03.25.11)
Apparently if we wanted to pull out all stops and absolutely ensure frendly coverage, all we'd have to do it hang out a sign saying "terrorists welcome" and invite them all in with their bombs and killing devices. Funny how they complain that Palestinian authorities didn't strip search them. Like they need to worry about some Jew coming in and blowing up one of their buses? When did that ever happen?
12. International Press
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (03.25.11)
So they are offended? Simply pack and go away, we don't need to help our enemies! About the camera, why they don't think about hiring an Israeli in Israel?
13. No compromise on security
Samson ,   Lagos,Nigeria   (03.25.11)
Israel is a terror sensitive state. The most sensitive in the world. If Israel relaxes ,they get hit.Israel cant afford to compromise on security issues.Mr. Rather i'm sorry.Dont take it personal,.This is Israel.
14. Couldn't have happened to a more
Paul ,   Jerusulam,, Israel   (03.25.11)
pro-Arab, arrogant journalist. I've watched him in the states for years, and he as obnoxious as it gets. Good work IDF, it was pay-back more than you ever imagined.
15. 6 # moshe
james ,   uk/il   (03.25.11)
Must we kiss the !!!!!! of all our enimies.
16. Humiliation is less dangerous than terrorist acts.
(03.25.11)
Journalists and Leftists pro Arab are a suspect and cannot be trusted. As simple as that.
17. Dan Rather's crew 'humiliated by Israeli security'
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (03.25.11)
B"H - Good!
18. Suck it up, 1000s murdered because of white collar
Crocodile tears ,   World   (03.25.11)
terrorists; not every jihad lover is poor, some are doctors, psychologists, in the us army even, many are teror sympathetic- even in the cnn and bbc and reauters documaneted cases of hizbullah praise. so if you have a palestinian camera guy well, that could be reason enough for a search. when im stopped at airports because i look middle eastern i say good, they are doing their job. you should too.
19. The clown who had to drop his pants
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (03.25.11)
probably mouthed off at the security people, or was rude and condescending. Served him right.
20. Israel is doing EXACTLY what the US does
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (03.25.11)
Stringent searches by the US's own TSA are INTRUSIVE and at times, cause HUMILIATING moments for the people. Yet a CBS poll in Nov last year showed 80% of Americans SUPPORT the security measures. And according to the TSA, these measures are intended to "keep the nation's air travelers SAFE FROM TERRORISTS." (CBS news, Nov 2010 - my EMPHASIS)
21. Legitimate Concerns
David ,   Israel   (03.25.11)
Palestinian workers at the British embassy have been implicated in terror attacks. Palestinian "journalists" have never been above aiding their jihadi brethren. I would have made them strip to.
22. Israels actions help earn the title of "pariah state"
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (03.25.11)
We palestinians need to only sit back and watch as the world grows more and more against israel each day.
23. #4;Michael, When your done kissing...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (03.25.11)
Dan Rather butt will talk, ready yet? Were Israeli's overzealous in this case, maybe? I Really don't know. I do know the Western Media uses Palestinian stringers (Cameramen etc.) so they can get in and out of Arab areas. We both know, hopefully, the press is banned for instance in Gaza if they print anything negative. So there is an implied intimidation of all media (we know local media their lives and families are routinely threatened). What is "pathetic" to use your word is that their are"dimwits" like you who routinely jump on Israel for having tough security. Last time I looked, Dan Rather didn't walk on water, and his comparison to Not being searched, when he interviewed Saddam Hussein, I find interesting. So I doubt he would have anything positive to say anyways, put simply I don't care that his crew was searched. Compared to what happening in the region it ranks lower than Charlie Sheen story in my view. So save your selective and hollow indignation, it really is quite phony.
24. Next time you will learn
Shalom ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.25.11)
Dan Rather, next time you will learn not to use an Arab camera man. I am glad that somebody made that poor excuse of man to feel like a piece of garbage because that is exactly what he is. In the case of Saddam, he was sure that Rather was going to show him in a positive light; no so with regards to any Israeli official. PS Does ANYBODY watch that idiot Rather or CBS. Long live Fox News!!.
25. good 1 less pro-arab journalist to return
Moish ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.25.11)
Dan Rather and his type already have the "story" they want in advance of any interview, which is usually to demonize Israel and put the blame on us. Even though the humiliation wasn't on purpose, hopefully this will deter his type from coming to our country.
26. gee, Dan
GB ,   Baltimore   (03.25.11)
Perhaps you'd rather get the treatment that Laura Logan got from the Egyptians?
27. Bogus memo man
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (03.25.11)
This guy was busted pushing a stupidly forged "memo." He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a news camera.
28. Try Gaza
Paul ,   UK   (03.25.11)
Next time try Gaza where journalists are often attacked, have their offices searched or kidnapped.
29. RATHER IN A LATHER
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (03.25.11)
Respect and Kol Hakavod to israeli security people.
30. I get it and you should get it too
Lironne ,   Chicago USA   (03.25.11)
The fact that Israel has stopped publicizing every attack further supports the idea that Israel and it's citizens are strong and bonded. There is no need to complain to the rest of the world about the aggressive attacks. The level of security and the procedures used in maintaining it should not be judged nor should the relationship between Israel and the media be considered "teste". Perhaps if every attack made was publicized, then the security procedures would be justified. I believe that this judgment cannot and should not be made by those not experiencing this way of life on their own skin. As for the media, they should greatly appreciate Israeli security standards, as they are the ones looking for the inside scoop. I'm sure they want that level of security when they visit for a day or two just as Israelis do every single day...it is something everyone deserves to feel, secure in their own home.
