34. precise targets
olavi ,   espoo, finland   (03.28.11)
Israel intelligence should find the whereabouts of the cowardious leaders of attacts and target them. This will give a temporary piece at least for a year.
35. #3 It ok to kill children, when these children are jews ?!

Tel Aviv ,   Israel   (03.28.11)
bill you gutless ignorant uneducated racist. why don't you go and live in Gaza with your friends who hide behind their women and children during conflicts. That is their greatest public relations tactic. It's easy to criticize from your your nice safe home in Canada. Who's the gutless one.
37. hi Slama, welcome back, where have you been???!!!
jonathan ,   London/ Israel   (03.28.11)
38. I think the response is too hard
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.28.11)
Attacking the people of Gaza will only kill Gazans, but won't solve Israel's problems. I suggest a two-step soft and not-aggressive response. First, try Goldstone in abstenia for supporting genocide and if he ever sets foot in Israel, hang him. Second, start massive Jewish building in Judea and Samaria in response to the rockets. Don't answer any phone calls from the racists Obama, Clinton and Biden until they free Shalit. Trust me, the rockets will stop.
39. #3 reality check
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.28.11)
"killing children is an IDF speciality"? What kind of BS is that? Can you give any evidence that backs up such a statement? Let me help you: are you talking about Shidane Arone? Look it up.

Just another victim of Palywood.
41. What history has shown...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (03.28.11)
Is that weakness only emboldens the enemy. Now clearly the regional Arab and Persian powers are trying to bait Israel into War. The strategy is to coalesce the Arab riots and protesters, and take their anger against their own governments, redirect that anger towards Israel. It's a simple strategy that has been used by all the Arab leaders for the last 60 years effectively against Israel. The result is now Israel has two choice's: 1) Respond with harsh consequences to the rocket fire and protect innocent Jewish civilians, Chancing the Arab PR strategy will work. They will try to vilify Israel and unite the Arabs, distracting them from their brutal leaders and redirecting the anger toward Israel. 2) Keep up the current weak response...which we know is not working...and risk the enemy (Hamas) feeling emboldened. Thus increasing the attacks on Israel. Both of these choices aren't great. But that is what leadership is all about, tough decisions! If it was easy anybody could do it. My opinion is now is the time for Israel to take the heat. The UN cannot say anything without looking like hypocrites, which has never stopped them before. But the West has no taste for further involvement in the Middle East. Hamas certainly will not get very good coverage. They are proven dictators (terrorist) that are equated with Assad, Gaddafi, Amadjinead etc., there may never be a better time to attack Hamas. Handled properly, Israel will not only defeat Hamas on the battlefield, but in the PR battle as well. It's a shame that Hamas has that kind of PR power, and that I blame on the Mainstream Media (MSM) in the West. They kowtowed to the Arab blackmail and media intimidation Arafat invented, which was simple. If a Media outlet printed, or put out any negative stories about the Arabs , they were forever denied access to the West Bank and Gaza. In a Media rich region, the MSM was unwilling to chance losing that access, to their unforgivable Shame!!!
42. News from Libya
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (03.28.11)
News from Libya : Qaddafi's soldiers moving victims to persuade world that they are the victims of allied attacks! And this is news? Palis and Hezbollah do this for decades (remember Qana 2006?)
43. can we have better reporting?
soldier ,   not revealed   (03.28.11)
Please? This is a collection of a small number of quotes from a couple of unnamed officers, all of whom it seems agree and the writer doesn't seem to have a different perspective either. Pick up any book on Israeli security affairs and there are complaints about the sloppy journalism of the reporters covering security affairs in Israel.
44. mofaz chutzpah
Marcel   (03.28.11)
mofaz has nerve to criticize bibi when he sat paralysed when israel'sbiggest flop olmert sat paralysed in not responding to hamas for 2 years for reasons similar to barak. mofaz could have changed olmert's response but he let the twins olmert and livni play oslo with israeli security and deterrence. Do you remember it/ They both ran to the us and offered abbas unbeleivable concessions that only encouraged the arabs to ask for more. No mofaz sat there so he can now shut up as he has no leg to stand on. Israel has to pick its time but unless barak changes his tune, he will essentially do nothing until the very end much as he split from labour in a midnight surprise. Until yaalon takes over, nothing will change perhaps we will score more points as halutz stupidly said.
45. #37 What?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.28.11)
any way hi to you too jonathan ; )
46. @ 38
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (03.28.11)
It is Israel's responsibility to protect it's citizens not Obama, Clinton or the UN. Also it would be wise for Israel not to accept any more diplomatic cover (veto) or military aid from the US Germany etc it could spend it's own money. Israel should protect itself and MAN-UP for a change and stop looking for others to protect it. It is also up to Israel to get Shalit released not the US. I don't see Israel lobbying the Taliban for the release of US Soldiers captured.
47. A TRUISM,....
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (03.28.11)
A fact of life NOT subject to review or arguement, or even mild dispute, is that the only acceptable force that should be utilized against gangsters, bullies (international or local) and terrorists and their support staff and infrastructure, is massive, disporportionate and crushing. Or akin to protection racketeers and blackmailers, they will return time and again to bite like fleas in the groin of civilization. Got Rockets? Give Rockets X 1000!!!
48. You're all wrong to be looking at trees
Sharon ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.28.11)
Maybe you should look at the bigger picture? (See 16 for an interesting, and obvious, analysis).
49. new reality
moshon   (03.28.11)
along comes livni at las vegas who asks bibi to form a coalition with her and create a new reality, a democratic israel, not a halachic one, but a new israel. The reality that she brought israel when she moved to kadima were rockets, un resolutions that are worhthless , an inconclusive war with hezbollah, rockets and death and hamastan. She like bibi could be a lower level official and that is as far as her skill brings her. She is extremely stupid when it comes to israeli security and how to bargain in so called peace talks. Olmert did his thing to curry favour, he could change his spots in a second. Livni actually believes in ereckat's hors**t. Whatever israelis think of bibi, he is better than all who preceded him up to rabin. Unverifiable agreements are worthless, arabs are congential liars. Defensible borders are the only criteria . Giving the golan and jordan valley would be suicide for israel and european demand for more concessions would be even greater up to binational palestine. That may be ok for beilin and oz but not for me. How israelis realistically could vote for livni no matter what fancy jingles her husband arranges is beyond me. She is just olmert in a dress.
50. appeasement
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (03.28.11)
The policy of appeasement toward the arabs started with Rabin under Oslo, Barak, Sharon and Olmert continued this policy which has been in place for almost twenty years. Netanyahu is a big talker but unfortunately he is just continuing the policy of his predecessors. JEWISH BLOOD IS CHEAP. AND ITS GETTING CHEAPER BY THE MINUTE! Something will happen, g-d forbid, a missile will land on a school, a public institution and there will be dozens of casualties, then and only then will the government do something. For this we need a Jewish state?
51. Stop Oslo
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (03.28.11)
Oslo must be stopped. The best way to stop Oslo is for Israel to facilitate hamas's coming to power in Judea and Samaria. Once Hamas is in power, Oslo is dead. Once Oslo is dead Israel can utilize the means necessary to destroy, Hamas. Remember, Abbas, Fatah is just a front for hamas utilized by the U.S., the world and the Israeli left to destroy the state of Israel. The last Prime Minister Israel had was Itzhak Shamir. Since Shamir we have HAD a bunch of impotent wimps running the country for the benefit of everybody but the JEWS.
52. Injustice breeds armed resistance, its pretty simple!
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (03.28.11)
When will israel understand that waging peace is far better in the long term for the israeli people than waging war?
53. BOMBS AWAY
Michael Pielet ,   bOCA RATON, USA   (03.28.11)
When north Tel aviv is hit. When Israel's rich elites get hit they will go running to Netanyahu pleading for him to do something. The first ones to come running are Shocken of haaretz, Oz ,Grossman. and the cheloni leftist women living on Levi Eshkol in Ramat Aviv. Oh, bibi do something, save us. The Jews in the south and north their blood counts for nothing.
54. What israel needs.
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (03.28.11)
We have to ask ourselves is it possible for the jewish people to have a state when 25% of the jewish population sympathizes with our enemies the arabs. Maybe the jews are a people who because of their nature are not able to have a state and live like normal people.
55. Israel's Response Too Soft
Iona Hoeppner ,   Davenport, FL, USA   (03.28.11)
If now is not the time to defend Israel, when is? The longer Hamas has to ready for war, the better they will fare.
56. to Salma 29
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (03.29.11)
For once I agree with you-your hide sure is in need of tanning . I bet that your donkey is shaking in fear too.
57. De-escalation was the right thing to do
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (03.29.11)
It appears that rational thinking people in the Israeli army this time succeeded. Of course those in command know that Hamas is not looking for a large scale confrontation, but it had to respond after Israel escalated the situation by killing 3 Hamas members in the former colony of Netzarim 10 days or so ago. As long as the siege of Gaza continues the odd Qassam home made missile will continue to fall in Israel, making people jumpy, but at least causing no casualties. Yes, to fire these missilies constitutes a crime, but so is besieging the people of Gaza. Hamas's thinking is: if the Gaza population cannot lead a normal life, neither can the Israelis around the Strip. It is the only power tool available to Hamas. At the same time it does not want a large scale confrontation. Actually, Hamas has shown maturity and pragmatism. Political leaders like Ismail Haniye will accept a two state solution as long as this is accepted in a global referendum amongst the Palestinian people. To all the cowards, who are calling for massive war crimes against the civilian population of the Gaza Strip. You still haven't learned that the Israeli army is frustrated, because there is no acceptable way, short of committing genocidal war crimes, to kill off the resistance from the Gaza Strip. The only long term solution is a political one, and you all know what the price tag for that is: withdrawal from THE territories occupied in 1967. Hamas and Fatah do realize that they must restore national unity. Preparations are already being made to amend the PLO constitution, so that Hamas and Islamic Jihad can join the PLO, which will again become the broad platform representing the whole of the Palestinian people. It will reinforce the international position of the Palestinian people.
58. Nowhere is softer on terrorism than Israel ...
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (03.29.11)
even the UK is tougher - and we all what that says! I hope and hold out for the day that the Jewish State of Israel grows back her teeth and bites hard like it did in days of yore... something occured in the Israeli psyche during that first Lebanon war. However the onslaught of daily terror attacks isn't good for any body. My love and my hope and prayers are with you Israel forever.
