Why do you publish this news ? Hamas is watching you ! Thought Mossad is MUCH smarter than that !
5. Very strange
(03.30.11)
I don't think the Mossad would expend so much effort to kidnap this man from the Ukraine, if he didn't have importan information. Perhaps he knows the location of Shalit, and they are trying to find this out in the case of a future ground incursion into Gaza.
6. this must be about something more important than a terrorist
zionist forever   (03.30.11)
The IDF themselves have not said he is a major wanted terrorist so why go after him? You don't kidnap somebody from a non enemy state risking a huge political backlash for your average terrorist. If this had gone wrong the killing of a known terrorist in an arab state using foreign passports would be nothing more than a disagreement compared to what could have happened. Ukraine is not an enemy state and we are actually taking this man from their soil. Kidnapping somebody from abroad is not an easy thing to do. The operation risked not only failure because we are operating illegally in a country we do not know but also the arrest or even death of agents. The IDF would legally not have been able to go ahead with unless Bibi personally signed the authorization. He probably also would have also been kidnaped by Mossad and the handed over to the IDF and Mossad agents don't take orders from generals. Considering all the complications and risks involved this guy must have some serious information and there are very few issues Bibi would have taken such risks for. It must have been either vital to national security like the Iranian nuclear program or it was on Gilad
7. tabloid
Oliver ,   Israel   (03.30.11)
I remember the article. It has to be said that Spiegel online, where it appeared is a tabloid always looking for sensatinal storries and not always serious as the Spiegel weekly magazin might have been once. Like almost every German media it is very biased towards Israel. And Ulrike Putz isn't a serious journalist at all and has a long record for her fiction about Israel. That Abu Sisi is linked to Shalit is a unassigned claim in the article.
8. Rubbish. Abu Sisi has defected.

9. Why It Doesn't Make Sense
Mark From Georgia ,   USA   (03.30.11)
All Law enforcement, whether it's the police or the secret service have one thing in common. They have limited resources and go with operations that will get you the biggest bang for the buck. So they run their service like any business trying not to waste money on useless operations. Just like the police won't waste their time to bust some local street drug dealer, by using wire taps, 24 hour surveillance etc., Any covert secret service isn't going to waste it's time, energy and resources for nothing. So clearly something was up, the Shin Bet felt was important enough to launch a sophisticated operation, that put valuable resource's both men and money at risk. Clearly they wouldn't do this for something they thought was minor. The fact is we may never know why this happened, so what?
10. Kidnapping people overseas is a clear violation of Intl Law
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (03.30.11)
This has been documented as yet another crime by israel and it will be added to the overall list, which will go to the ICC (International Criminal Court).
11. #10 re International Law
Jacob ,   Dallas   (03.30.11)
Be careful, mr palestinian. Seems to me that you may are using a poor definition of international law. If international law applies to kidnapping people then we should call Hamas in clear violation over the abduction and concealment of Gilad Shalit for years. Furthermore, Hamas has violated all International Red Cross provisions in denying Gilad Shalit access to an attorney, clergy, and visitation from family. But I am not finished with you. Why has the world not condemned Hamas and its multi headed terror cells for firing rockets at civilians in Israel? I don't recall the UN or its Security Council passing any resolution of such condemnation. Perhaps your version (and the UN's) of international law does not apply to targeting and murdering INNOCENT civilian Jews. If, however, you are prepared to acknowledge that Israel daily faces terrorist operatives worldwide, then the rules of war apply, and Israel has every right to do what it needs for defending its citizens. I doubt international law says otherwise.

If this information is published, then there is a very good reason. Mossad IS smarter than that! If it is stupidity you are looking for, try looking in a mirror.
13. Defected!
Noa   (03.30.11)
Why would his wife go back to the Ukraine of all places??? To get kidnapped and re-united with her husband?
14. A question to christianpalestinian (#10):
JD   (03.31.11)
If Israel is guilty of so many crimes, how come it hasn't met the judge yet? All of history's great tyrants were brought to justice, how come the villains of Israel escape? Makes one doubt whether there's even a grain of truth to all of that.
