Tahl (#2) couldn't have said it better. This is about pride and acceptance, so downplaying identity shouldn't be a part of that. Two, in order to win back progressives who (in a contradicting manner) support the Palestinian cause, ISRAEL needs to show-off its progressive qualities, like gay rights and gays serving in the IDF. And does anyone else find "Tel Aviv in Berlin" to be oxymoronic? We are fed the illusion that Berlin has evolved into an artsy, tolerant, post-modern paradise, yet Jews still have to downplay their identity there?

As usual I think everyone has again missed the point - this has nothing to do with Gay Pride or any other pride except the Israeli Palestinian conflict. How can you sell a country as a brand when it is known for its repression of a minority ?

and yes Israel does accept gays and even allows them to register their partnership. Maybe you are confusing Israel with the other intolerant religious fanatical countries in the region.

There is no "gay community"...they have no "culture". It's just people who are sexually overactive, irresponsible, in your face and desire sex with the same...well, sex. Who cares. Reading this farce concocted by the TelAviv Municipality I will surely bring an Israel flag to the CSD (june 25). Incidentally the flag's blue matches perfectly with my eyes.
