Kerry is convinced Assad is serious about peace because Assad tells him he wants peace. He forgets to notice that Assad at a time when he is supposed to be pushing for peace is supporting terror and has said on the record he will not offer a full peace treaty in exchange for the Golan instead some kind of ceasefire. Kerry though is convinced Assad wants to be the next Sadat. As for Obama's handling of the palestinian issue that has been totally amuter and shows he has a total lack of understanding of this conflict and his solutions have been all about showing the muslim world this is a new pro muslim America. He kicks Israel every chance of Israel every chance he gets and embraces Abbas. His attitude is Abbas can do no wrong Bibi can do no right. Even when Bibi gave a 10 month building freeze to entice Abbas into talks Obama didn't say to Abbas Bibi made the first gesture you reciprocate. I hate to admit it but the Republicans have not got anybody young and charismatic like Obama and its that young charisma which won him the last election not his life experience. Obama understands about celebrety image. He tries to look cool by taking off his jacket and tie and rolling up his shirt sleeves at events. He makes no secret he loves basketball and technology which appeals to the younger voters. He has his family man image which appeals to the middle class young families. He wants to send a message I am not an old fashioned stuffy politician in a suit who lives and breather politics 24/7 I am an ordinary guy who can relate to the problems of ordinary people. I think the only thing that is against Obama for the average swing voter is his handling of the economy and possibly his obsession with appeasing muslims which doesn't go down to well in America. Unless the Republicans can find somebody special even at this stage Obama will be a hard man to beat.

It may feel good to have the US President slobber his undying love and act like a member of Likud while doing nothing to actually help bridge the differences between the parties but that is not leadership or friendship.

A large part of Obama's success was the news media and press. They made a nobody with no job experience look like a savior and then they took Sarah Palin who actually had some experience and was the highest rated Governor by her constituents in the United States and treated her horribly. If most other women were treated the same as she was we would never hear the end of it from the liberals. The majority of the people in America swallow whatever the Government or press feeds them. They don't even question why the cars in America don't get nearly as good a gas milage as in Europe or Asia. It's hard to distinguish the where the foolishness of an emissary ends and that of the one who sends him begins. I know - only as an acquaintance, not personally - the incoming US ambassador to Israel. A nice guy, but despite his credentials I heard a lot of nonsense when he spoke about US initiatives in the Mideast at our synagogue last year. It's hard to know how much of that he personally believes or advocates and how much he's simply putting forward the President's line. In Kerry's case, since he has his own independent position in the Senate he has enough opportunity to make clear where he stands on these matters. When he says Obama wasted time on settlements, obviously he's not speaking for the President. When it comes to Syria, it's patently clear they're both delusional.
