61. Why not? We love Israel
Sean Green ,   Pasadena, USA   (04.14.11)
Whether Jewish converts or regular Christians most all of us love Israel and many of us would happily join and defend it. US Christians tend to favor Israel's right to exist even more then US Jews. Ironic yes?
62. welcome brothers and sisters, wonderful News
Love   (04.14.11)
63. Smells like messianics
Yonason Herschlag   (04.14.11)
Today there are tens if not hundreds of thousands of Christians, who believe that Yushka is their messiah, who practice numerous Jewish rituals, and consider themselves Jewish. Some even speak Hebrew, dress and look Jewish, and pray in Jewish synogogues.
64. Can Palestinians convert too?
Jeff ,   Bethlehem   (04.14.11)
What if Palestinians (Christian or Muslim) decide to follow the the example of Baruch Abramovich? would Lia Shemtov encourage them? this is becoming another option for Palestinians who live in camps in Lebanon and Jordan!
65. THESE R PEOPLE LOOKING 2 BECOME 'JEWS' 4 JESUS!
moi ,   ici   (04.14.11)
They should NOT b admitted!
66. #56 they are Xtian & Gerim (strangers)
Jew ,   here   (04.14.11)
clearly if they were Jews then they would have already gone through the process of Gerus and would no longer be Xtian or Gerim! In other words get w/the correct terminology
67. so now Liberman et.al. r also determining who is a Jew?
Simon   (04.14.11)
THIS IS NOT AMUSING!
68. #25 Theft of land
Raphael ,   Netanya   (04.14.11)
Translation of purchasing into arabic si "stealing with money". Translation of stealing into arabic is "reclaiming".
69. THANKS but NO THANKS!
shadoil ,   Jerusalem   (04.14.11)
We got enough problems without you, a woolf in sheeps clothing. trying to destroy the Jewish nation not physically but religiously culturally and spiritually. Bonvoyage Blanche!
70. @ 64
kzawwe ,   gaza   (04.14.11)
i wanna ask the same 64 question ?
71. And also remember:
Keren ,   IL-BR   (04.14.11)
Israel must be an harmonic society and for this to happen ,Jews must live among our own ,because that's our intimate ,natural drive. We have Torah rules for strangers and they must be respected ,even if Israel is yet "secular",because these rules are the only ones that will bring stability and harmonic social companionship in Israel. Don't let in strangers. We are not ready for such thing. We have enough headaches and we don't need to add more .
72. WELCOME! It's about time Christians come back...
(04.14.11)
...after being driven away, raped, harrassed and murdered by the Muslims in the Holy Land. And I am only talking about the last 60 years! Some sane American Christians are welcome to balance the crazy Orthodox "Palestinian" puppets - Muslim @$$-kissing Sabag comes to mind.
73. 64 & 70, if it is genuine, why not. It is personal decision.
leo ,   usa   (04.14.11)
74. @64, 70
NilsG ,   Helsingborg, Sweden   (04.14.11)
Considering the somewhat bleak view held within Islam on apostasy, regardless of whether rabbis would accept a Palestinian convert to Mosaicism, said convert would probably have a short and very eventful life ...
75. no 70
alexa ,   Israel   (04.14.11)
First you have to convert int Judehism and i welcome you to try It is not so easy to become a jew it takes months and one of the condition is living in a jewish religous comunity so you do all this and when you'll become jewish you'll be welcome here. I just don't know how tyou are going to do that if indeed you live in Gaza
76. gentiles or Jews?
miri ,   miami   (04.14.11)
if this group truly want to convert we should welcome the. but if they are messianic then they should stay in the usa.
77. Christians/Jews
Jack ,   USA   (04.14.11)
Once anyone becomes a Jew, then like Ruth they are Jewisha nd all of there decdents are and will always be Jews. So why call them Christians, We need all the firends we can get, hopfully they will bring in money for commerece and and arrange forr loans from US banks to build and develop.
78. Please ignore #69. He does not represent us.
Tahl   (04.14.11)
I find the comments by "shadoil" to be extremely offensive and ungrateful toward the people who help us the most. And while I may not be totally supportive of the settlement movement, I find the unwavering support and love for Israel of these wonderful people, to be quite heartwarming. We can disagree with this initiative, but at least we can do it kindly and appreciate their support.
79. #78: #69 is less offensive than these in a rush 2 b Jew....
Joaquim ,   Israel   (04.14.11)
Jewish Christians! In other words while I don't like the way 69 worded his message he's on to something which needs to be carefully examined. The real issue here is on what rabbinic authority do the members of Israel Beitanu Political Party have the right to determine who is or isn't a Jew? Isn't this the political party that is pushing for secular everything - marriage and burial in particular? So why all of a sudden are they interested in a group of American Non-Jews who are talking the conversion talk and walking the conversion walk? Something is amiss here...either in the article or may-be in the way that Israel Beitanu is stepping all over our Jewish tradition just to suit their political needs? So what say you Tahl?
80. Remember Vendyl Jones?
Chris ,   Dallas, USA   (04.14.11)
The article mentions "priests" not being on board. If these folks aren't Catholic, Orthodox, or Anglican, not sure why it would make a difference. Most folks who go in this direction tend to be Evangelical Protestants. That said, Vendyl Jones went from being a Baptist minister to being a Noachide. From my pov, his knowledge of Torah was pretty sharp. Zola Levitt, otoh, went from Judaism to the Baptist faith, but never lost his deep Zionism. Anything's possible in terms of religion. Your main concern won't be "priests", imo. It'll be the PA and Hamas. I'm sure everyone will find a way to cope.
81. You're blind
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (04.14.11)
If you can't see what post-Zionists Yisrael Beitunu and Likud are. A bunch of whores who'll sell away everything Zionist to hold on to some dusty hills. Am Yisrael Hi in the 1967 borders!
82. Settlers to Samaria
Yehudah ,   Texas   (04.14.11)
1. these are not christians; they are not Jews at the moment (they hope to be soon), but to call them christians is misleading. 2. For those who don't want them to settle in Israel because Israel is for Jews: an orthodox convert is 100% as Jewish as Moses, no questions asked. 3. Halavai we should see a day when HALF of all Jews have their dedication to Yiddishkeit and Eretz Yisroel.
83. PROSELYTES
Ann ,   USA   (04.14.11)
These are NOT Christians. They're Proselytes. They are converting to Judaism. If they want to become Proselytes, then let 'em have at it. But the article's headline is wrong, imho.
84. #82 there is nothing more annoying...
Ruth ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.14.11)
than a self righteous new Jew living in Texas...coming onto Ynet and Mussaring in our general Israel direction! It is just plain rude and never done! Other than that...these folks won't be certified Jews unless they convert 100% orthodox and become 100% orthopractice. and further Yehudah, over thar' in TexA$$ even if they convert in the USofA their conversions won't be recognized here....they will be hoops and a plenty to jump through!
85. @83 & ur 'Proselytes' r makin' it up as they go along
(04.14.11)
these people if they are sincere wouldn't be making announcements via the newspapers. I have had the honor to work with true and sincere Jews who went through the conversion/proselization process and not a single one of them made any great noise about what they were doing. Each one of them was humble before G-d! Where exactly is the humility of a large group of Christians who want to settle in the West Bank? why the articles and why via the most secular party in the nation?
86. these Xtians r 2 Liberman what the Black Hebrews r 2 Deri
(04.14.11)
87. Not poor wording. Actually, Freudian slip
Ben ,   USA   (04.14.11)
For all of you complaining about the author's poor choice of words, I say poppycock. I think the author meant exactly what was published. The author mentions these people are seeking *Orthodox* conversion, and then calls them Christians. But if they are seeking conversion, doesn't that mean they're already "over" Jesus (i.e., what makes a Christian a Christian), and are in the grey nether-area between goy and Jew? It is my opinion the author made a Freudian slip and told us what is really going through Yair's mind. It is probably similar to what, in my opinion, goes through many minds when encountering a person claiming to convert to Judaism: Unless the convert has some sob story about how his distant relative was a Jew who was forced to assimilate or convert away from Judaism a few generations ago, the convert is viewed the same way an alien from outer space is viewed - with suspicion. So, to recap: (1) The author meant what was said, and (2) It was a Freudian slip Oops, my talkback was itself a Freudian slip. My bad. Sorry.
88. if their conversion desire is so sincere....
AmiChai ,   Jerusalem   (04.14.11)
then why are they so set on making public announcements about it. And what is most intriguing: 1. why aren't they speaking with the National Religious Party about this? 2. why is it that this item appears in t he paper less than 4 months after the article announcing that the daughter of the founder of the Christian Embassy in Jerusalem was serving in the IDF in order to get Israeli citizenship. 3. If this whole group of people were more humble it would be easier to understand them. 4. Israel Beitanu is a secular party why are people who want to be religious Jews going to them?
89. To 28, Really?
Joe ,   SV, USA   (04.14.11)
So if I read your comments correctly you are saying that Jews will start bloodshed over Israel loving foreigners living there and wanting to defend a land that is as holy to us as Christians as it is to you? You can deny our claim to it's holiness if you choose, but Jesus is our Savior and he was Jewish. Many of us love Israel and would see it defended. I do not plan to move to Israel, but you would really turn away people who want to help better your culture? Just because some might come to the Truth? And here I thought it was the terrorists from Palastine who responded in such a manner. You are not representing your people very well. IMHO.
90. #35 Mark T.A.
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.14.11)
You have your facts backwards, they want to live on lands that the Palestinian's stole from the Jews Name the last 3 rulers of your fictional Palestine to prove there ever was such an entity Where can I see some ancient Palestinian coins, with Arabic inscriptions ? How come Palestine or Jerusalem aren't mentioned in the Koran ?
