2. It was probably "yoots"
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.14.11)
Sadly, synagogue vandalism is not unusual in Israel. The culprits are usually disaffected teenagers. They probably did not even realize that this is a "pluralistic" congregation.
3. Who would do such a terrible thing.
(04.14.11)
It's either Arabs or Haredim
4. Racist against Americans?
Josh   (04.14.11)
5. Anti-Semitism
(04.14.11)
In the diaspora this would be considered a terrorist attack stemming from anti-Semitism. How is it referred to when Jewish people conduct these atrocious acts?
6. Most likely Hareidim
Chaya ,   Tel Aviv   (04.14.11)
7. TERRIBLE!!!
AD ,   Toronto, Canada   (04.14.11)
A Beit Knesset is a Beit Knesset and a Sefer Torah is a Sefer Torah no matter which dinomination upholds them. This kind of action is unacceptable and should never be tolerated. The perpetrators should be caught and the judiciary should make an example of them by slapping them with the most severe punishment possible.
8. wannabe Jews
B.A. ,   Sweden   (04.14.11)
The gathering-/cult-place of “reform-jews” is for sure not “Synagogue”.It’s generally a verbal attachment to something they have no real or historic affiliation with whatsoever.
9. outrageous!
nadav ,   tel aviv   (04.14.11)
no doubt this is a result of Orthodox Haredi fanatics! I am shocked to hear this happened before, did it not receive media coverage? This is what happens when the government forfeits education to Medieval, superstitious fanatic haredim, who preach hate of other Jews!
10. To #8 - Who's the wannabe Jew?
Dina ,   Canada   (04.14.11)
The members of this congregation live in Israel. This shows a strong historical affiliation and much more than a verbal attachment. Can you say the same for yourself from Sweden?
11. Raanana Synagogue vandalized
Ger ,   Raanana, Israel   (04.14.11)
Another voice for tolerance speaks up. In Sweden, your Moslem buddies wouldn't care which form of Judaism is vandalized, and your Socialist government wouldn't care, either.
12. Chaya, why be so sure?
Dovid ,   Israel   (04.14.11)
Discrimination by those who claim it?
13. #9 no evidence that Haredim did this
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.14.11)
The last time a Masorti synagogue was vandalized, the media (and the talkbackers who were incited by them) went on and on about crushing the Haredim. Then the actual culprits were arrested, and lo and behold it was some secular youths on a spree. BTW are you aware that haredi and dati leumi synagogues are vandalized all the time but rarely gets reported here because it's not "news"

Can you show me a link for this "last time". Tks
18. To #15 - What's your point?
Dina ,   Canada   (04.14.11)
I'm not the one claiming that Reform Jews are somehow less Jewish. No Israeli has a right to question the sincerity of Reform Jews in Israel and most certainly neither does anyone who lives outside of Israel.
19. Torah to the Nations?
David ,   America   (04.14.11)
What makes Judaism any different than other "religions?" It should be two things. #1, Sh'ma #2, V'ahavta L'rayacha Kamocha! I have not seen this type of hatred between brothers all the denominations of Christianity. I am not trying to be critical. I am trying to understand what there is in Judaism that is so special if hatred between brothers is so prevalent.
20. TO #18 If you are Jewish, you belong here
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.14.11)
in Israel.
21. Kehilat Raanan
SDJZ ,   Raanana , Israel   (04.14.11)
I am a Reform Jew, I am a Zionist, I live in Israel, my children are protecting and will protect the Jewish People and the Jewish Homeland. I am a member of Kehilat Raanan and resent any comment here that doubts my love , respect and/or knowledge of Judaism.
22. #3 It's most probably either Arabs or Secular Lawless Jews.
(04.14.11)
23. # 8 Non-Orthodox Jews
Thomas ,   US   (04.14.11)
I can't recall the last time a Reform or Conservative rabbi was arrested for welfare fraud, money laundering, black market sales of human organs and purses, or defrauding a children's charity. I certainly can recall that happening to Orthodox rabbis. Furthermore, I don't remember seeing non-Orthodox rabbis attending the Holocaust denial conference in Iran, mocking the victims of Katrina, the Holocaust and the Japanese tsunami victims. I don't recall any non-Orthodox rabbi being arrested for writing inciteful text like the "King's Torah" either. We can't say the same for the Orthodox rabbis now can we? Perhaps the non-Orthodox Jews actually fear God while you just enjoy bobbing up and down in your soup stained coats and weird hats.
24. #23 Non-Orthodox Jews, just as bad
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.14.11)
When non-Orthodox Jews commit crimes, they are usually not identified as "Reform" or "Conservative" in the media. Bernie Madoff is not an Orthodox Jew. You also have many non-Orthodox Jews, including rabbis, (Michael Lerner for one) participating in BDS and supporting anti-Zionist groups such as ANSWER and ISM and promoting anti-Israel activities. So don't be so smug and self righteous.
25. #21: Well said.
Jay ,   Chicago, IL USA   (04.14.11)
Shalom, my friend. I'm sincerely pleased that there are a growing number of people like you in Israel.
26. Intolerable
Yakov   (04.14.11)
Something has to be said about the state of things when Jews start accusing Haredim-another section of the community-of doing something so despicable. Let's see what the authorities find first. If it is someone from inside the community, we must make it very clear this is intolerable-whether inside or outside Israel.
27. #26, Haredim did it, you will see, if info is not hidden.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.14.11)
Who throws stones in Jerusalem, blocks street in Bnei Brak? Who writes the most aggressive comments here? Who has the history of abuse of women and children? Watch what the police uncovers. If we hear nothing from the police, be sure Haredim did it because in Israel the Ultra Orthodox are in government coalition and can suppress information. Their Ministers and Knesset members are the masters of PR for the Haredi community. P.S. Maybe Barney Madoff is not officially Haredi, but his background was from that stream. Certainly, Barney was not religion-driven when robbing Jewish charities,
28. 27Michael,although I do not hope ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (04.15.11)
that you be ever accused of something you did not do,this could happen to you,and you won t find anybody helping you. Your post is outrageous.Stereotypes are low level. You are very deceiving ,Michael. My first impression was a good one.I hope i was not completely wrong. Shabat Shalom.

"I have not seen this type of hatred between brothers all the denominations of Christianity. " I suggest you do some serious reading. Throughout history, Christians have [sadly] been at each others' throats: Catholics vs Protestants, and within the Protestants (Lutherans, Huegenots, etc). Even today the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches are not on the best of terms. And lets not forget the Ethiopians vs the Copts vs the Armenians, etc. (If it weren't for the Israeli government stepping in, the many denominations of Christianity in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre would have let the edifice collapse rather than cooperate in it's desperately needed structural repair.)
