1. Enough of this!
Sam ,   Lagos, Nigeria   (04.18.11)
"Any fears that ultra-Orthodox Jews, who believe the sound of a woman's voice in song is blasphemous" That is soooo not true, the person that wrote this is just a racist
2. Note to Reuters
jew ,   israel   (04.18.11)
Dear Reuters Middle East correspondents, Thank you for picking up the slack of ultra-orthodox villainizing when our own press is unable to do so. as a note, please leave your ridiculous commentary on our nation out of your reporting, thanks.
3. #1 - you're right "Enough of that"
Chaya ,   Tel Aviv   (04.18.11)
Enough with the Hareidim telling others how to enjoy culture. If they don't like it, they can go into their homes where they can't hear it - or put on earl plugs.
4. I'm not a fan of ultra-orthodox thinking but in fairness...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.19.11)
I seriously doubt they think hearing a woman singing is "blasphemous". Who ever said that should look up the word in the dictionary. Ultra religious Jews simply don't want the temptation in their midst. They find it too erotic to hear a beautiful voice and it may, in their point of view, cause them to sin. -When words lose their meaning, society collapses.
5. Well...
Avi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.20.11)
not really. according to most ultra-orthodox jews womens voice should not be heard via a live performance. however, only a minority is extreme enough to protest over it. I also agree that the word "blasphemous" is a little strong, but not racist.
