1. suspects
peter ,   A'dam NL   (04.18.11)
@ Mr. Ron Ben-Yishai : instead of writing 'killers' shouldn't you add: 'suspected'? They're going to be appearing in an Israƫli court or military tribunal with lawyers to defend their innocence, I presume.
2. Arrest
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (04.18.11)
If the Israeli high court had been involved the murderers and their arrest would not have been possbile
3. effort to solve this case was unusual?
observer ,   Egypt   (04.18.11)
Israeli military forces took all Awarta men in for questioning, making "wholesale arrests", including two officers of the Palestinian security establishment. But, that was not unusual.
4. same urgency should be given when settlers are the killers
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (04.18.11)
Israel should care as much also when settlers kill innocent palestinians in areas controlled by israel
5. @ 1
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (04.18.11)
Hahaha. So naive. Don't you know anything about Israeli military law in the West Bank? This whole article is groundwork because the international media will be going into Awarta once the military exclusion zone has been lifted and probably reveal some pretty messed up behaviour on behalf of the IDF. Shin Bet and others
6. Where's the PA ?
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (04.18.11)
Upon the muder the PA said it was anxious to know who carried out the killing...Why is the PA silent now that two Palestinians have been arrested following their confessions? I would expect the PA,in the very person of Mahmoud Abbas,to condemn in the strongest possible words that heinous,deliberate,cold-blooded murder of three babies, such a brutal, premeditated murder that causes disgust and revulsion ! Certainly the lynching did not at all conform with the least moral principles of legitimate resistance. It only shows how primitive and barbaric some Palestinians could be ... !
7. Rami of Nazareth
Arnold ,   Canada   (04.18.11)
Which settler has gone into a Palestinian home and killed the inhabitants. Maybe I missed something in the news.
8. Rami #4
Micket ,   Sydney Australia   (04.18.11)
Please give us the names and dates of death of the people you allege were killed by these'settlers'
9. Such petty talkback when two adults cut the throat of a BABY
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.18.11)
and other young children and their parents and would have killed two more children if they had found them, they BRAGGED. We are not dealing with soldiers who are glad they killed the enemy in time of war, we are talking about BABY KILLERS, deranged hate filled scum of the earth filth that if they had been Jews in a muslum country would have been tortured to death. The third temple will be built and all this mess of the arabs will be put down forever.
10. Shin Bet
Joel ,   We Ae All Sderot   (04.18.11)
Right on! To those who think that only Israel, of all the countries in the world that are plagued by terrorist attacks, must strictly abide by the Marquis de Queensbury rules or by your inverted sense of morality read my lips" Tend your own rotten gardens and suck it up. Am Yisrael Chai!
11. Separate people who murder each other by an int'l border.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.18.11)
12. Boring article!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (04.18.11)
From the title of this article I was expecting to read some details as to how the police identified the killers. The article only provides general statements about tracking and questioning, with no exact details.
13. #4: it does, when will the PA?
David ,   Dallas   (04.18.11)
Israel has investigated, arrested, tried and convicted Israelis for planning terror on Arabs, not just executing those plans. The PA does nothing about terrorism other than to name government offices, schools, streets and parks after terrorists.
14. #5
Abed ,   Nazareth, Israel   (04.18.11)
Nothing nearly as messed up as stabbing 5 members of a family, among them a 3 month olf baby, to death, or have you forgotten that already?
15. an "anatomy"...lol
eporue ,   europe   (04.19.11)
every newspaper, as from the start, reports quite different "details" and sequence of events. the information given is totally sparse. how comes ? does your police not hold a press conference for journalists and public ? or do you journalists not understand what is said there, or dont you ask anything ? or is there only desinformation "given", or - leaked ? it was reported earlier, that at the crime scene DNA was found, what would be pretty normal considering the stabbing of 5 people. when then 100s of people were "arrested" (instead of simply swabbed), and then it took weeks to get a "confession", we can take from that, that the DNA didnt match the suspects.
16. #5, why would they bother?
Danny   (04.19.11)
When they can stay in their hotels and just write lies. After all don't we already know that it was a Thai worker who hadn't been paid his monthly salary of 10,000USD that carried out the killing?
17. #14, it is called "resistance"
Danny   (04.19.11)
18. @ 14
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (04.19.11)
Didn't you read @1's post? He asked if the accused would be presumed innocent until proven guilty, which really cracked me up. It's hilarious. They're Palestinian Arabs; they have to prove they're innocent first. He didn't comment on the terrible murder. And the test of it all will be if they have DNA evidence. If, after this entire thing, all they have is the confession of two boys the Shin Bet probably tortured and who intimidated by arresting their families and NO DNA evidence linking them to the crime then like in the dozens of other times this happened in Israel and in the West Bank it means that the real murderers are walking around somewhere because the police are incompetent, brutal, bigots.
19. To #5 - It's pretty bad when Abed from Nazareth has to say..
AJS ,   Austin, Texas   (04.19.11)
...to you that you've overlooked the heinous murder of children to , once again, blame the IDF for doing what it has to do to defend Israel. Tel Aviv is mamash a hospital, full of sick people who delude themselves with alternate realities fantasies of multiculturalism. Thank you Abed, from Nazareth, for standing up and being a human being like the rest of us. This "Smith" jerk in Tel Aviv really has room to grow.
20. Israeli Justice!
astounded ,   tel aviv   (04.19.11)
I'm sure the IDF and Shin Bet followed the correct procedures and will be presenting DNA evidence just as soon as they've finished concocting it. Honestly though, it's amazing how naive Israelis are. These two boys have obviously been chosen and carefully 'nurtured' to fit the frame. Hooray for Jewish Justice! God help us when they control the rest of the world.
21. Rami@ #4
Ehud ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.19.11)
Unfortunately you are right, there is no real equality before the law here in Israel.
22. #18, yeap because it is not like it happened before
Danny   (04.19.11)
The Palestinians have never ever killed civilians and in fact never ever killed civilians in Itamar- for instance they never killed anyone in May 2001 - and in fact never ever killed children in Itamar -for instance in May 2002 - and never ever killed little children - for instance just a month later - so obviously this is a put up job. Better to round up Thai workers because they are the obvious suspects, especially if we ignore the fact that Itamar has no Thai workers
23. #15, ah PC Plod
Danny   (04.19.11)
why would there be plenty of the DNA of the murderers? Exactly what evidence would convince you, Smith and the other dick?
24. # 20 Beats the heck out of Islamic "justice".
(04.19.11)
25. #20 "nurtured" for jihad
Cynthia ,   USA   (04.19.11)
Arrested in spite of the families covering up for them. But don't worry, justice will prevail. These sub-humans will have a lifetime in prison to regret their crimes.
26. #21, yeap
Danny   (04.19.11)
Rich and famous people get an easier time as opposed to everywhere else....
27. Guilt
Nice Bloke ,   UK   (04.19.11)
Hang on, aren't they innocent until proven guilty?
28. My point proven
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (04.19.11)
Everyone that has criticized my comments here has proven my point. In law, including Israeli law, a suspect is innocent until proven guilty regardless of how heinous a crime they are accused of. Yet everyone here is convinced that these kids did it without knowing the full details or even if their DNA is connected to the crime scene. They are guilty even before getting a fair trial. In me saying that these two boys will have to prove they are innocent (like almost every Arab arrested for anything in this throwback to the Deep South of a country) has no bearing on the heinous crime that was committed against the Fogel family. In fact it is my belief that if two innocents are framed because the police in this country (who actually have no investigative skills and obtain over 95% of their convictions from confessions like third-world backwaters such as Kenya, India or China) don't know how to investigate will be a terrible injustice to the innocent murdered children. The army practically arrested the entire male population of the village and ransacked it completely. This is not the behaviour of a "moral" army. It is also suspect that the arrests were based on confessions and not DNA evidence from what I understand of reports on this matter. If any of you know anything about Israeli police history you will know of the several instances of an Arab (and Ethopian's and Russian's) convicted of murders only for it to emerge years later that they were falsely convicted from confessions obtained under very dubious circumstance. What does that mean for the victims survivors that thought they had closure and now realize the true perpetrator got away with murder and someone else was punished in their stead? So go on and think about that all of you.
29. if we had stayed in Gaza
zionoid entity ,   occupied kanata   (04.19.11)
We could have found Shalit the same way and Hamas would not be in power. There would not have been any long range rockets threatening us or anti tank missiles shooting school buses. Don't get me wrong. I am ok with withdrawals but not while the goal of the Pales remains our total destruction. We tried it in Gaza and Lebanon I hope we learned our lesson.
30. DNA
Devorah   (04.19.11)
I think some are assuming a Buccal swab was the only way they tested for DNA, but there are additional tests for DNA profiling. Perhaps skin cells were found under fingernails as an example. And who knows if the clothes they wore that night were recovered and, if so, how much blood, hair, etc. from the Fogel family was on the clothes? How much of their blood, hair, etc. was found on the Fogel family members? Let's not forget fingerprints (not only in and around the house but the fence, too), footprints, ballistics testing, etc. The prosecution is not going to tell the public every detail of the investigation because the formal evidence will be presented in a court of law, not in the court of public opinion. Furthermore, nobody has any clue what the defense will present in court, if anything.
