Pollard spied for Israel, but has been in prison longer than any other American spy including those who spied for Russia and China. Even Weinberger, responsible for Pollard's unprecedented sentence (spying for an ally) said before he died that Pollard's crime was minor. It's been 25 years and nothing Pollard knows could possibly affect anyone now---everything has changed, including our enemies. If its not antisemitism, he must know something that someone high up doesn't want to come out. The way he's being treated is unAmerican.
32. pollard
boris ,   nyc, us   (04.23.11)
is in jail, because us gov does not want the world to know that it screwed up his case.
33. DO NOT release Pollard...
Jeremy Moxley ,   Philadelphia, PA, US   (04.23.11)
No way - this guy should stay in jail - you don't get to spy on the US and go free.... It's ridiculous how much influence the Israeli government has on US affairs, with the AIPAC scandal and some of the other things they've done, including the brutal occupation.....and now this guy wants to be released? No way....
34. Pollard should be grateful...
seadog1946 ,   ArthurKill, NJ   (04.23.11)
that he is not in the general prison population... a member of the Aryan Brotherhood would have taken care of him a long time ago and saved a substantial amount of taxpayer money.
35. Memo to Johnathan Pollard:
pw ,   usa   (04.23.11)
Memo to Johnathan Pollard: you were a traitor to your country, in service to Israel, and the cost of your betrayal to the US intelligence community was enormous, particularly with regard to the old Soviet Union. You should be grateful that the US didn't ask for the death penalty in your case. And President Obama, please be aware that if you pardon this man, you will telegraph to Israel that they can spy on the US with absolute impunity, leaving our intelligence community compromised and vulnerable. I would suggest you may want to weigh very carefully if this is really the message you want to send to Israel at this time.
36. He's VERY lucky...
Mark   (04.23.11)
That he was caught back then and not now, when he'd be subjected to torture, at the very least. Still, he deserves to be kept until sentence is served, and then buried in a numbered plot on prison grounds.

Jennie ,   US/Israel   (04.23.11)
You dont know what you "talking" about. If Polard was caught today for the same crime, the most he would get is the same sentence...Why would he be subjected to torture? Are you nuts? He did commit a crime, but he was fully cooperating with the investigation and served his sentence in full...Just by reading the article, you could learn some facts. You better keep your zeal for real enemies of the Free world, you moron !
