1. you mean, jordan annexes the west bank ?
eporue ,   europe   (04.23.11)
2. that's just wishful thinking
a realist Israeli   (04.23.11)
Who exactly is going to support such an option? The Palestinians have a hard time giving up Haifa so you want them to give up Ramallah? The Hashemites will just pick up and leave Jordan voluntarily? No one is to gain anything from this except Israel, and the Arabs will never agree to this.
3. Extremely naive and bound to fail
Israeli   (04.23.11)
The option has been rejected outright by Jordan consistently, and will never, ever, come to fruition. Quit dreaming, a Palestinian state wil be here in September
4. Asaf's pipe dream...
seadog1946 ,   ArthurKill, NJ   (04.23.11)
Jordan will not annex the West Bank... it has no borders and its full of Israeli settlers and troops.
5. JORDAN & EGYPT, IT'S THE REAL PALESTINE
JEWISH DOCTOR ,   NYC USA   (04.23.11)
FINALLY SOME TRUTH. HERE'S THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLACE ALL THE "RIGHT OF RETURNS" WHERE THEY SHOULD GO BY LAW. GO TO JORDAN AND EGYPT, REAL HISTORIC HOMES OF THE PALESTINIANS, ONCE AND FOR ALL. NOW IF ONLY THE GAZANITES WOULD POUR INTO EGYPT, THERE MAY BE A CHANCE FOR SETTLING ALL THE ISSUES.
6. Jordan is Palestine
John cone ,   USA   (04.23.11)
Not the west bank as long as this three or four country solution to the palestian problem by Oslo there will always be war. Jordan has a majority palestian population ruled by a minority beduin as long as this fact ignored israel will be under attack from the world and there will be no peace or secure borders which the 67 borders do not achieve.
7. #3: Worse than fail would be if it succeeded
David Segal ,   Philadelphia, USA   (04.23.11)
Israel's security can't be improved by fostering the "Jordanian Option". It would position a well-armed and trained sovereign country back into Cis-Jordan. When the Palestinian majority takes control, it would produce a Syrian/Jordanian front a la 1948 and 1967, just where Israel is most vulnerable.
8. He has no imagination for what could be.
David ,   Hartford USA   (04.23.11)
His only thought is how to stay in power. Which proves he is just as bad as Assad or Qaddafi or Abbas. Since all three of those losers are on their way into the dustbin of failed leaders, one might think Abdullah would do something daring and unexpected- like say his country will take Judea and Samaria and make all the residents, Palestinians and Israelis, full citizens of Jordan, with an open border with Israel. There could be peace, if only one Arab leader would simply stand up and be a true statesman. Alas, there are none. Sadat was once-in-a-century leader. There are no more.
9. Who says the Hashemites will have to agree?
Rachel ,   US   (04.23.11)
It's just a matter of time before the Palestinians who make up 70% take over anyway. Iraqi refugees make up 15% and the Hashemites the remaining 15%. They are a minority that can be overthrown.
10. This exposes the "Palestine" fraud
BH ,   Iowa   (04.23.11)
If the "Palestinian" agenda was simply nation building, Jordan would have been "Palestine" years ago. That was established at San Remo in 1920. No amount of taqiyya can change that fact. The fact that the idea is so violently opposed by the other side exposes their true agenda is not the creation of a state, but rather the destruction of one. Why did they not seek a state in J&S during the 19 years of Jordanian occupation? Was it not "Palestine" then? Jewish history on that land goes back thousands of years. "Palestinian" history does not go back for half a century? Actually it does. Anyone remember when the Jerusalem Post was called the Palestine Post? That wasn't an Arab paper, it was Jewish. Anything Palestinian before the 1960s was Jewish. That Arabs have usurped the name in order to create a false connection to the Jewish Homeland. That land only became Arab "Palestine" when it was liberated by Israel. There is no "Palestine." Israel has been reborn. The word "Palestine" now simply means "destruction of Israel" nothing more nothing less.

13. revisiting options - from best to worst...
eporue ,   europe   (04.23.11)
(1) west bank => palestine, gaza => egypt. (2) west bank => jordan, gaza => egypt. (3) west bank => palestine, gaza => palestine. ad (1): best solution for israel. better to have a tiny neighbour, than a big state with large forces. ad (2): best solution for the palestinians - for economic, political, diplomatic, security etc reasons. jordan would be renamed to "palestine", annex the west bank, the king for representative purposes. ad (3) WORST. this wont take a good end together with gaza. soon, there will be political changes again - after fights, riots, attacks, murders, followed by intl sanctions. it well end up separated, but after a long painful time for its people and the state will pay with their intl reputation for it - on top of the nightmare. as gaza is gaza (politically, economically), egypt will close doors again, and its people flee to the west bank - what they can, as they do have passports... if gaza doesnt go to egypt, im sure, even though i hope im wrong, it will be bombed until the messiah comes. and after the "palestine"-disaster by various nations...
14. Pay Arabs to leave Judea and Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.23.11)
Jordan is Palestine. It covers 78% of the Palestine Mandate. Moreover, Israel has incontrovertible legal proof that Judea and Samaria are ours. The answer is simple. Pay Arabs to leave Judea and Samaria. They are already leaving Judea and Samaria by the tens of thousands annually, without Israeli compensation. With fair Israeli compensation, we could solve the problem within a few years.
15. 77%
Jane   (04.23.11)
of the original British Mandate for Palestine was lopped off the form Jordan. Therefore, Jordan IS Palestine. That is why the majority of the population is Palestinian. It is the truth, it is not propaganda.
16. Revisiting the Jordan option
Augusto Sousa ,   Portugal   (04.23.11)
This is truly the best idea. No more war. Everybody, go to where you belong.!
17. No option but Independent Palestine.
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.23.11)
your security officials can discuss what the hell they want, in the end the Palestinians proved many times they won't give up Palestine from the river to the sea no matter what you do. Stupid government, stupid people. stupid army. Declaration of an independent Palestine state next September....Palestine ready to be better than ever : )
18. 14 - an interesting concept...
seadog1946 ,   ArthurKill, NJ   (04.23.11)
compensated ethnic cleansing.
19. To # 17 Salma
Rachel ,   US   (04.23.11)
Your people are the ones stuck in refugee camps so you tell me who's stupid?
20. This seems shortsighted and very dangerous
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (04.23.11)
This could make Hezbollah look like a small problem. I am sure Iraq and Syria would be happen to train and arm them and lets not forget about Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia or Turkey depending on who they ally with. If they have a mandatory 2yr military service program then there could be 1M trained soldiers in afew years and only 20 or 30 miles from Jerusalem. Then add a possible air defense systems like the S-400 and some of the newer long range artillery then it starts to look very bad.
21. #17 Salma, Palestine
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (04.23.11)
Palestine "from the river to the sea"? Interesting. And what about Israel?
22. "From the river to the sea", Salma?
Michael Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (04.23.11)
You have finally admitted it--you have no interest in the existence of Israel, only in its destruction. The possibility of an Israel "from the river to the sea" is much more likely, and would be the logical end to the Mandate of Palestine the British crapped up by separating 78% of the Mandate to create an Arab country--Jordan. By the conditions laid out in the Mandate, the remaining 22% should have been allocated to the "Jewish state" from the start. Dream on, a Palestine "from the river to the sea" will never happen--the only way it can is to murder all the Jews living there--do you think that we Israelis would just sit there and let you kill us? If you do, you are more stupid than some of your inane posts indicate. Jordan should have been Arab "Palestine" from the start.
23. #21 - she doesnt answer that... maybe she thinks of the same

then I will be more realistic than you.
27. 14 Chaim - Israel does Not have Enough Money
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (04.23.11)
How many $Trillions do you have? The US is broke and nobody else is likely to offer the money. Try calculating the real estate values, per home and per apartment in Ramallah alone. For that matter, why would Jordan even entertain the idea? Not as a favor to the US or to Israel. Who would build all the needed infrastructure. This is the most ludicrous of ludicrous ideas.
28. 17 Salma...lol
