1. Israel should hit gaza so hard that the
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.29.11)
terrorists will not recognize it. We need to depopulate gaza of all the arabs and return the Jews to gaza.
2. Peace is right around the corner.
Stephen in New York   (04.29.11)
Jimmy Carter and Desmond Tutu were right. Trust in peace partner Abbas and the good will of Hamas and all will be well.
3. Now the power struggle begins....
William ,   Israel   (04.29.11)
we all saw this coming - a Hizbullah-style takeover of the govt under the guise of "peaceful unity". It looks like, unless the PA flexes its muscles, that Hamas will be leading the policy of this new govt, right into a future of war, at the same time when "Palestinians" are asking for peace.
4. if hamas screw this up it could play into Israels hands
zionist forever   (04.29.11)
If Hamas refuse to recognise Israel and say that the unity government must not hold negotiations with Israel then everybody will see the palestinians are refusing to talk and it won't go down well for them if they try to go direct to the UN any bypass talks. If Hamas continue firing rockets then Israel will say this is what the new unity does and if things get out of hand then there will be Cast Lead 2. If Fatah manage to get Hamas to renounce violence then thats great. The ones to really worry about now is Egypt which is breaking the terms of Israel's withdraw from Gaza in 2005 by allowing goods into Gaza without Israeli inspection and there will no longer be restrictions on what can and cannot come into Gaza. So we could find ourselves where Hamas don't need to use their tunnels because they bring their weapons in through the front door.
5. Redendant rejection?
J K ,   NYC, USA   (04.29.11)
Anyone taking an honest look at Fatah can see with their own eyes, through education materials and official charts that they reject Israel in it's entirety anyway, so would'nt this simply be being honest with the world. They're going along with the 2 state idea for land and funds on;y having to eventually hand Israel a worthless piece of paper. At least Hamas is honest about it's goals.
6. One day Hamas will sit next to Shas in the "Kenneset"
Ali ,   Washington, DC   (04.29.11)
Unity would be good for everyone and a pure Jewish state based on racial superiority is a naive dream.
7. Jews are the native people, not ersatz palistians
J1 ,   Earth   (04.29.11)
8. Words of war....
StevieT ,   USA   (04.29.11)
but at least you know where you stand with these guys.
9. The USA World must Annul support for the Palestinian Fatah
(04.29.11)
The EU and USA must annul financial support for the Palestinian Fatah - Hamas Government and their supporting terrorist factions and governments like syria who in the mould of Hamas kill their own people' Israel cannot seriously make any peace with these organizations and leaders. Better to concentrate only on supporting Fayyad if anyone.
10. Nitinayahu is the reason
Ayham Jadallah ,   Amman-Jordan   (04.29.11)
Actually Nitinayahu is the responsible for this agreement between Hamas and Fateh, since he stop the peace process and his continue in building Israeli buildings in the Palestine lands
11. So what exactly changed in 17 years?
William ,   Israel   (04.29.11)
Nothing really. Whether there's 1 political party or 20 and they split, argue, and kill each other - the underline goal of the "Palestinians" which is also their narrative and identity, is the total destruction of Israel and nothing even close to a 2-State solution. Why ask for 1967 borders when that really isn't the border you want? You get no borders, no peace, no anything until you end your terror war and live in peace. Without it, prepare to move back to 1987.
12. Feel the love
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.29.11)
This is such a shock! Not.
13. Animal Kingdom
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (04.29.11)
When I was a very young manchild, going through the adventure of maturing in the U.S.Marine Corp, I recieved extremely wise instruction regarding Fauna; that had universal implications. An old (35 or so years) Gunny Sgt. told me never, NEVER let my Aligator mouth overload my Hummingbird Ass. In kinder, gentler words, you just don't bite off more than you can chew. I am forced to believe that they do not teach such words of wisdom to those usurpers who call themselves "Palestinians".
14. Wow!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.29.11)
An agreement isn't even in place, and already Hamas is issuing orders! It's truly a shame that "Palestinian" unity is only a fine oxymoron. I, for one, would welcome the opportunity to rid Israel of the cancer that is the ersatz "Palestinians."
15. Let HAMAS Hear My Voice
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (04.29.11)
I want to make my voice heard : I,as a Palestinian in Jerusalem, am not interested in surviving more wars between Arabs and Israel. It's already more than enough. We live only once,so let us enjoy our life. P.S. Palestinian organizations keep telling us Israel is bad, and I simply wonder if they are any better than Israel ...!
16. Here we go again
GOOD ,   USA/Israel   (04.29.11)
That's why Land for Peace is a bad idea - why should Israel give away tangible property for intangible promises from the masters of Taqiyya (deception)? It's just about to happen with Egypt - Israel gave the Sinai back for promises that are already being broken.
17. time to stop this leftist charade. tell the world this is
ralph   (04.29.11)
our land and the murdering arabs are the imperialists we will kick of our land. time for a pr campaign, enough of leftist peace crap.
18. THANK GOD for not falling for the "palestinian" lies!
(04.29.11)
How many times need these murderers tell that they don't want any kind of peace with Israel, before our STUPID "Left" comes to its senses? "Palestinains", just like their other Muslim brothers worldwide want one thing: anihilation of everything and anything which does not submit to their demands. And since they don't want peace, there will be war. And guess who will lose - AGAIN!
19. Not fit for a state
Carl ,   USA   (04.29.11)
How can the world possibly consider giving these people a state? Haniyeh has stated Hamas has no intention of recognizing Israel and believes Israel's presence is illegal. How does this "serve the interest of the Palestinian people?" Let us hope Europe recognizes the wisdom in Lieberman's position.
20. Your move Mr Netanyahu
BH ,   Iowa   (04.29.11)
Rescind your recognition of fake "Palestine."
21. rescind recognition
yigal ,   north   (04.29.11)
Moshe Dayan once said"the road from Damascus to Jerusalem Is also the road from Jerusalem to Damascus".If the Palestinians won't recognize Israel, then why would Israel recognize the Palestinians rights?
22. 10. Thank you...lol
(04.29.11)
I was just going to write that I wonder how long it would take for some Islamist or useful idiot, to write that it's the fault of a Jew or israeli that Fatah is hooking up with Hamas...Two terrorists sitting in a tree...K I S S I N G...LOLOLOL. I didn't have wait long at all...just read the 10th message....lolo...leave it to an Islamist and/or useful idiot...oh, which are you?
23. haniyeh Lives In syria?
Woundering   (04.29.11)
Just woundering if he thinks he will ever stand on Israeli soil again? hamas and fatah are killing any chance at statehood for their so-called people? hamas is good at one thing that is "Killing". how is abbas going to get around this? Just Woundering? Shabat Shalom
24. #10 ayham What Are You Talking About?
Woundering   (04.29.11)
Bibi Stated NO PRECONDITIONS, your arab leaders are the reason the so-called Peace Talks Failed as always YOU arabs are Delusional. Did you arabs Know Israel was Named by The Divine Creator Hashem and He Hashem Dwelled in the Capital Of Israel Jerusalem a pLace Called The Holy Of Holies. Just Woundering. Shabat Shalom
25. How much to trust the Arabs?
Mike ,   Israel   (04.29.11)
No agreement with the Arabs is worth the paper that it is printed on. Watch how Egypt will renege on all its agreements with Israel. Watch how the PLO will become Hamas2. The best answer is: Never trust an Arab further than you can throw him.
26. The Only Solution,
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (04.29.11)
No more talk with the terrorist Fatah or Hamas. Construction now and forever in the direction of Jordan and south all the way to the Egyptian border. Gaza must not continue to exist...point final
27. We don't need a 2nd Palestinian state. Jordan is enough.
Yaniv ,   Israel   (04.29.11)
28. Strange
Mark in NYC   (04.29.11)
I am not a friend of Hamas. But afer your refusal of negotiating or complying with UN resolutions and not caring for peace, I can fully understand Haniya's position. We, Americans, should care only about ourselves and stop giving any military aid to you... Your policy towards the Palestinians is a national threat for us.
29. THIS HELPS ISRAEL, THANKS
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.29.11)
As I've written before there are clear International criteria to be considered for statehood. If an entity doesn't meet the criteria it's against International law for any country to recognize the entity.. One of those (the criteria) is this: Would the Palestinian Entity be Willing and Able to Abide by International Law? Answer: If not, that is a legal reason to deny statehood to that entity. "The requirement that a state be both willing and able to abide by international law has become a regular feature of the recognition policy of states and international organizations." This is the the legal source of the above statement: "See generally, Whiteman, supra note 20, at 72-83; see also Hackworth, 1 Digest of International Law 176-179 (1940). For example, Liechtenstein was denied admission to the League of Nations in 1920 on the basis that it did "not appear to be in a position to carry out all the international obligations imposed by the Covenant," League of Nations, Official Journal, 1st Ass., 667 (1920). Note also Article 4(1) of the UN Charter which provides that in order to be eligible for membership states must show that they "accept the obligations contained in the present Charter and, in the judgment of the Organisation, are able and willing to carry out these obligations." The General Assembly, in Resolution 506A(VI) (1952), suggested, inter alia, as indicators of the satisfaction of this provision: maintenance of friendly relations, fulfillment of international obligations, and a willingness to utilize peaceful dispute settlement." Of course another feature would be would the government of the new entity, honor past agreements. So with the Oslo Accords, The Declaration of Principles (D.O.P.), The D.O.P. letters exchanged between Yasser Arafat and Rabin. All said the same thing. Which was 1) Israel accept the PLO as the sole representatives of the Palestinian people, 2) in return The Palestinians accepted Israel's "right to exist". This has been the basis of all agreements since. Now Hamas has stated, clearly, that WILL NOT honor past International agreements and Law. Therefore, the UNILATERAL declaration of a state is ILLEGAL, based on that alone, and must be denied. Of course there are numerous other reasons why it's illegal under International Law. So I say thanks to Hamas for making it so easy, please keep talking.
