1. LOL! That didn't take long.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.04.11)
2. Hamas and Fatah
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.04.11)
"We condemn the use of violence and terror." Priceless!
3. Do you think the Arab MKs asked for release of Shalit?
Cynic ,   USA   (05.04.11)
Of course not. They were too busy praising the very people that fire anti-tank rockets at Israeli school buses, advocate Israel's destruction, and praise Bin Laden. Unbelievable.
4. AGAIN KINDA FUNNY, ISN'T IT???
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.04.11)
Yes, they are a unity government, so they argue about who sits where, and who gives the longest speech. Sounds like it's heading in the right direction, by that I mean maybe it will last a month. They argued for 2 hours over seating arrangements? Hmmm. Let's explain what they want, a new entity that does NOT allow any Jewish people to live there. Plus they want all the refugees to be allowed to come to Israel to live? Then why do you need an entity? You can't have both. If you were to get an entity, then naturally that's where all Palestinians will go, doesn't that make sense? Abbas said ""We condemn the use of violence and terror". But Hamas just condemned his killing (UBL) and claimed he was a holy warrior, which is it? Mashaal stated: "We have been ready for peace since Madrid but Israel does not respect us and has rejected all out initiatives – whether they came from Fatah or Hamas." Really, then why did Hamas just asked Fatah to rescind the recognition of Israel. He also has repeatedly called for the destruction of Israel. So what offers does Mashaal refer to? In fact both groups have come to the table unwilling to negotiate. The have a list of demands, and have refused to compromise with any of them? Proof they were never serious in the talks to begin with. While Israel has shown their willingness to compromise.
5. pali unity an illusion
gdfathermax@hotmail. ,   tel aviv israel   (05.04.11)
but of course the world is dying to recognise them. we must remain strong and tell these diplomatic jokers it's the pali rabble or us,
6. And Sabotage begins...
Nour ,   One State   (05.04.11)
Wishful thinking and childish predictions! The only victim will be 'Israel'.
7. school boy bickering
zionist forever   (05.04.11)
ABBAS - I want to make the long speech MASHAAL - No I want to make the long speech. ABBAS -I am the moderate and everybody likes me so I should make the long speech. MASHAAL - I got the rockets to and I could always fire one at you if you don't let me make long speech. ABBAS - I will go in the corner and sulk if you don't let me make the long speech. MASHALL - Ok already you make the long speech, anything for an easy life and they call this reconciliation. If Hamas & Fatah can't even agree on who should make speeches then I don't hold out much hope for this unity government.
8. No. 6 Nour
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (05.04.11)
Dream on, Nour. they're already squabbling. They can't agree on anything, they're a pathetic bunch and couldn't begin to run a state if they tried. The rest of the world will look on and laugh. so now the Palis and Hamas can go whining together to the international community. It's what you do best - that and teror attacks. Meanwhile you can be sure that we in Israel are keeping a very watchful eye indeed.
9. poor people
rahamim ,   miami usa   (05.04.11)
the street of ramalah look more like a corner of city of Paris France not like a port of prince Haiti or darfur town, poor Arabs (pal`s)
10. BEST ANSWER TO THAT BIG FOOL ABBAS - BUILD ISRAEL BUILD!
stude ham   (05.04.11)
look at abbas telling israel that it is acting above the law... and that israel must choose between new settlements and peace. since abbas offers nothing towards peace... and now associates himself with outright terrorists ... ISRAEL MUST CHOOSE NEW SETTLEMENTS over these phony pali pretences of peace. BUILD ISRAEL BUILD!
11. unity
paz ,   usa   (05.04.11)
They want this unity just so they could reach the stage of having their state declared by the UN on 1967 borders. Of course, the 67 borders are gone, lost in a war they started. The only way Israel can go back to those borders is if it was clear that the threat to Israel's security was gone. As long as Moslem children are singing songs about Saladin's conquest of Jerusalem and being fed anti-Israel propaganda, that will never happen. No one is fooled by this 'made for UN show'. There is no way that the world can accept a state where its elected government praises Bin Laden. That's called the Taliban. I don't see a good future for the Palestinians. I see them being used as pawns by Moslem powers around them for generations to come. Poor people, I truly believe that most of them just want to live in peace. As long as oil-rich Islamist nations are funding their terrorist government, it wont happen. As long as that terrorist government is providing services using that money, their "democractic" support will continue. It's downward spiral. Look up some info on "the prisoner's dilemma" to understand what is going on here.
12. WHY THEY ARE DOING THIS
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.04.11)
International law has traditionally required that four separate criteria be satisfied before the recognition of an entity as an independent sovereign state can be considered:9 1. The entity must exercise effective and independent governmental control. 2. The entity must possess a defined territory over which it exercises such control. 3. The entity must have the capacity to freely engage in foreign relations. 4. There must be effective and independent governmental control over a permanent population. (Source): These criteria are listed in the Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States, December 26, 1933, 165 L.N.T.S. 19, which is generally regarded as reflective of customary international law; see Crawford, supra note 6, at 36; see also Menon, supra note 4, at 28. The above International Law of criteria are NOT a list of all of the criteria. But are just the main four. There are others. Now remember, this is to just be "considered" only. For permission to ask the the International Community, and if they can ask, to declare a new entity. It's no guarantee it will be approved.
13. pali unity
gdfahermax ,   tel aviv israel   (05.04.11)
not possible. also they are shunting salem fyyad out of power. the donars are watching with increased nervousness.
14. Palestinian unity & worldwide backing = nightmare for Israel
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (05.04.11)
Netanyahu and the israeli people should make peace with the Palestinian people before it is too late!
15. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.04.11)
You people cannot agree on seating placement and speech length and you actually think you have what it takes to build a viable state? Are you that delusional? But you know what? We are going to give you every opportunity to try -- we'll pack you off to Gaza. Forget the Jordanian option -- no need to antagonize Jordan by sending all of you there; you get to build your "state" in Gaza. (Good luck with that one!) Happy trails, chica.
16. #2 Hamas and Fatah
Moragh   (05.04.11)
That didn't take long. I am (however) still convinced that Haniyeh and Mashal do intend to get rid of Abbas.
17. Nour @ 6
Moragh   (05.04.11)
Dream on dearie, dream on lol!
18. Abbas vs. Mashal
Moragh   (05.04.11)
Poor people... they're squabbling already and probably old Abbas hasn't even seen his office yet. My goodness, what a bunch. Actually, I'm beginning to see the comical side of this whole Arabs vs. Jews fiasco. I know the Jews are not laughing, but I'll bet the rest of the world is.
19. Hey Nour -
Moragh   (05.04.11)
which one of the two between them (abbas & Mashal) will win when the boxing match is over. Somebody needs to give Haniyeh a punch, but watch out all the fat in his overblown face is liable to spill out.
20. #6, how long have you been saying that "Israel" will lose?
Jake ,   USA   (05.04.11)
Its getting old already. Year after year I hear the same threat, yet year after year, war after war, not only does Israel win, but Israel grows stronger and more advanced. Aren't you embarrassed by your terrible predictions?
21. Nour
zionist forever   (05.04.11)
Nour They don't need any help from Israel to end this new found reconciliation. Just look at them arguing over who is going to make the longest speech. You think a government which argues over who will be making speeches will last long? This new alliance is going to last only as long as Hamas are getting things their own way. Once people start telling them no you cant have it then it will be back to the infighting and Fatah people being thrown off roof tops in Gaza. The real test for Hamas will come after the election
22. Missed oportunity
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (05.04.11)
And Israel politicians missed another opportunity! We have expected that the "unity" will not last long and that they will fight soon enough again, so why didn't Netanyahu agree to talk with them? Just for international media, they are anyway stupid enough to buy anything...
23. So the 2 factions are talking (barely) again--BIG DEAL
Fatah+Hamas= Fat Ass ,   usa   (05.04.11)
What they hope to accomplish when they already have a non-starter such as "'67 borders WITH right of return" is so pathetic it's almost laughable. Same old corrupt leaders, same old bickering, and same old rhetoric. The Arabs have no example of functioning democracy in ANY of their many lands, yet the world expects that by shaking hands their perspective is magically going to change. Abu Mazen's incompetence coupled with Meshaal's trickery will undo all of Fayyad's economic progress in the West Bank in the blink of an eye. Just wait and see.
24. #14 - you fail to read the fine print of "support"
William ,   Israel   (05.05.11)
While States seem to be voicing support for a "Palestinian" State, they didn't say "unconditionally". Many in the West have stated unequivocally that while they support a "Palestinian" State, they do so if it comes through negotiations and not unilaterally. Many of those States have insisted that it be part of a 2-State solution and NOT at the expense of Israel or its security. Personally, I'm ok with a "Palestinian" State, because that means an immediate end to this fake narrative called "right of return". Not sure you'd give up the lights of Las Vegas for the cafe swill in Ramallah.
25. #6 - been hearing that from Arabs for 6 decades
William ,   Israel   (05.05.11)
and we're still doing ok. Rated 7th happiest country.... I'm feeling pretty good about it and watching two terror chiefs argue like an old married couple, as your future implodes.
26. #14
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.05.11)
How does Israel make peace when the only "peace" the "Pals" will accept is 1. Complete acceptance of all demands; no compromise 2. And complete acceptance of all demands would result in total destruction of Israel 3. And the "Pals" don't even want to talk to Israel. Proof: Whenever peace seemed to be near, the "Pals" backed off. Arafat changing his mind resulted in intifada. Abbas getting too close to peace for his own comfort resulted in refusal to talk. It's not too late for Israel. It is already too late for the "Pals."
27. Tibi says "...Hamas agree Pal State on 1967 borders"
William ,   Israel   (05.05.11)
Was this before or after Hamas demanded PLO rescind all agreements with Israel and stated that Hamas will never recognize Israel? Hey Tibi, were you there to witness the ceremony or apply for a job?
28. what unity? there was never unity,
ghostq   (05.05.11)
it was expected, each one of them get funds from rivals, the WB from Saudi Arabia and Hamas from Iran, no chance on earth they will build bridge over the pulling and pushing. power and money each of the two want foot hold in the area.
29. to #21 I noticed every time palis mess up
ghostq   (05.05.11)
they blame Israel, but for how long... they r lucky Israel do not even care about the fals accusations, this is y they r in mess, Israel got nothing to do with it.
30. To all you cynics out there!
HaifaGuy   (05.05.11)
The new united Palestinian govt has now entered its 3rd day of existence!!! Hell, they might even stick it through to celebrate our Independence Day next week. I want to invite Abbas & Haniyeh to Haifa's glorious Carmel Forest for a BBQ (plenty of pork, vodka, dance music and scantily clad lads and lassies).
