Devorah   (05.06.11)
Every time I see an article about these survivors I get sad and angry at the time time. 1. Where are their families, and why are they kicking these people to the curb? 2. If the Israel government does not act quickly and boldly in order to help the survivors live out the rest of their lives with peace of mind and dignity, then Israel is no different than the arabs who would just as soon kill their own as help them. This is not the Jewish way.
2. They are a pain; can't you see it on their face ?
jo   (05.06.11)
Some survivors and many of their children (if not most) helped to build Israel. So keep building 5 million $ appartment, pretty soon there will be no survivors left to be an ' encombrement ' ( a nuisance for the educated )
3. and not by anti-semites
Rahel   (05.06.11)
and just for once, they cannot blamed anti Semites- Israel is mistreating and insulting its own citizens. For shame!
4. 81% believe that survivors are still living

6. We remember memories: FORGOT THE PEOPLE
EZ ,   US   (05.06.11)
"never forget" we say...refering more to the Incident than the people it happened to. How quickly we "forget" them, letting them slip through the cracks. 1:the rabbis should have assigned caring for the downtrodden to the survivors, ensuring the mitizvah of ahavat Yisrael where the religious MUST visit survivors and assist them when they need us, show love often and share our time with them. 2: the government should have backed the survivors financially to the nines, without pause. 3: Jewish Agencies should have been set up to make sure they didnt fall through the cracks as they have. So what's it going to be my fellow Jews: r u going to step up? Or are you going to remain "busy" with meaningless nonsense and forget them? If you don't, we shall all suffer the same fate: WE WILL BE FORGOTTEN BY OUR CHILDREN AND GOVT. In this universe, there is an underlying order that is slowly revealing itself to the science world: among those: what goes around, comes around: we create our own reality. If we dont do the right thing...we will surely meet the same fate. Just look at Osama...he died in a shameful manner, like an animal. All tyrants wind up in the gutter, all of those who do the right thing sleep soundly and wind up with the beautiful life and and are remembered well. Don't be fooled into thinking you will "get away" with ANYTHING in this life: you won't. Do the right thing: live and support a survivor...until their last breath.

rivkah, you are a moron!!! 1.Fellowship of Christians and Jews gives help to Jews in the former soviet republics. 2.Pensions from Germany only to ones who was in the camps( my late Father in law got $300 a month). 3.Many of the survivors have no family left ,have medical and mental problems but you would never get this because you, most likely, was born in the West. You have no shame...
9. Holocaust survivors
rivka ,   los angeles   (05.07.11)
mark you are right. I have always gone out of my way to find and embrace those who by miracle, survived the horror of the death camps. They speak Yiddish, German, French, Dutch, Italian - they lived in different cultures, different lifestyles - but they all have something profound in common - they have seen the dark side of humanity. Of the many survivors I have come to know and love, most have experienced unimaginable cruelty, but for them - there is nothing more cruel than indifference. Maybe "rivkah" will understand that one day, when she is old and alone - maybe her children will think of her as she thinks of our survivors - for me, they will always be the anchor of my soul and conscience, the ray of sunshine that survived the darkest clouds of humanity.
