1. never going to happen the USA WOULD HAVE NO CREDITIBLITY
abdalla ,   plantation   (05.07.11)
2. Hamas is on the U.S. terror list, so of course no more aid
Yaniv ,   Israel   (05.07.11)
3. Way to Go Senators !
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (05.08.11)
It is really time to stop the aid to the terrorist groups.. By continuing aiding our enemies, we are harming our Democracy and our best interests... Abbas is and always was a terrorist, even before he became the head of the PA Authority. He is responsible for many attacks on innocent Israeli civilians and daily kassam shootings to Israel's sovereign land. Any US support of such an authority is contradicting US policies and the will of the American People...For decades US is heavily aiding Gaza and none of those $$$, was spent on any peaceful infrastructure, but tunnels digging, acquisitions of weapons, explossives and heavy artillery for daily raids into Israel...If US will stand by its refusal to work with the terrorist PA government, the world will take notice and respect us for it. And that could trigger a real peace process... Though, on the other hand we know, thay won't give up terror...This is all they have always done....
4. please don;t tell J Street about this
Cindy ,   USA   (05.08.11)
You might isolate them even more!
5. cutting aid to pals
moron ,   galut   (05.08.11)
once again democrats late to the party--republicans more pro-israel
6. Obama supports terrorist
AnitaK ,   East Troy, USA   (05.08.11)
Why should Barack Hussein Obama stop supporting terrorist Hamas and the Palestinians, He is bucking for Sharia Law. He is infavor of the UN passing the blaspheme law in which anyone who speaks out against the Koran or Islam should be punished. Obama is why here in the United States Muslims are stepping-up and speaking out for Islam laws in many states. WHY? Because Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim.
7. Good move if it happens
pixelateddwarf   (05.08.11)
This would be a good thing - if it happens. Isn't the PA already on some watch list of terrorists? If not it should be.
8. to nr. 3.
justice for all ,   world/planet earth   (05.08.11)
if hamas joins a palestinian interim-government it is entirely a palestinian domestic, internal, national business. the us senators should mind their own us business. if the aid to the palestinians is to be cut, because hamas is a terror organization, then the aid to the "israeli"/zionist terrorists should also be finished. not only punishing one party. same monks, same caps/hats. this is also a proof that the us cannot/willnot be an objective mediator in the conflict between the "israelis"/zionists and the palestinians. the un can better do this. the us can make the same mistake as with iran in 1979 with their meddlesomeness and playing the masters/boss of the entire world. if we donot resist this then we all will become slaves of neo-liberalism/capitalism and of us-world-dominance/us-world-hegemonism/us-world-imperialism.
9. If U.S sends aid to a PA united with Hamas,then...
Keren ,   IL-BR   (05.08.11)
...then,we can call U.S.´s leadership schysophrenic ,and we can say that Bin Laden´s killing was just a psychotic surt. It just does not make sense to send any aid to anything related to Hamas(actually not to Fatah also)since Hamas is an Al Qaida supporter and even condemned Bin Laden´s " killing" . They may well say from now on that they hated Bin Laden, but well...,we know the truth. Frankly,if U.S. or any other nation push to keep the aid...,come on,now there is no more excuses to affirm that these west " leaders" are making a big joke of we all. A very bad joke for this matter!
10. Yes, and copy the Secretary of State.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (05.08.11)
She already said the terrorists will continue to get money from the US. She and Obama are happy to aid and abet terrorism.
11. Way to go senators. Your president needs help
Harry Wright ,   UK   (05.08.11)
real bad! Notice how clueless he is. That is because he has imbibed too much from Bill Ayres, Jeremiah Wright and Farakhan. So you folks gotta assist him with some perspective.
12. Fancy that! The more the Pals reject peace the more
Harry Wright ,   UK   (05.08.11)
eager Obama / Clinton and the EU want to pay up the jizya. Well, with the Souk mentality, the Pals would not go for peace at all. Resistance is a lucrative business.
13. O Undemocratic O How can they B so nasty
Martin ,   SA   (05.08.11)
Obama its time you looked in the mirror and did a reality check. The Colosas who strides the world - they must be kidding. They cant do this to meeee!! So they can? so check out your brothers hood.ET 2 Brut Ob ality, America is not Hawaai nor Kenya. Lets learn an integrity trick . Look for your integrity button... if you can find it. Bin Ladin is not everything even though its something. Dont forget to send a team to find that sandal afloat on the so-calm ocean. Sealed and signed.
14. By Popular Consensus: We Don't Support PA
EZ ,   US   (05.08.11)
Americans do not support the Palestinians by a 2/3 majority: we remember RFK's death, the '72 Olympics, the airline hijackings, the murder of the wheelchair bound Sr citizen being tossed off the Achillie loro, etc, etc. Only and handful of dumb liberal college sheep r 'pro PA' so it's VERY nice to see our representatives.."REPRESENTING" the American people. I repeat: we do NOT LIKE OR SUPPORT THE PA....PERIOD. On the other hand, the schizophrenic Europeans send a FRACTION of what US aid WAS...THATS a joke but clarifies the terrorist supporting thugs of Europe. You see, when the Europeans aren't in A position to rape and pillage, they just finance a pack of terrorists to do it for them. The EU are Nazis. Nuff said. Have a wonderful day Yisrael.
15. Shunting Influence to Iran
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (05.08.11)
The US cut off the Palestinians in 2006 and immediately, it ended up with Iran having influence in Gaza. The exact same scenario appeared before, but with Hamas already in government. So of course, we could expect a different result. So now that there is a hope of enough reconciliation that a peace treaty might be enforceable, maybe the US should cut off the PA now. Why wait? According to the NY Times, Hamas has recognized Israel and it's right to exist, is not planning on being part of the PA government or cabinet. So, of course, rather than pursue it, cut them both off immediately. Iran will pick up the pieces as they did before. That must be preferable to any hope of resolving the conflict. Maybe the US should bomb Al Aqsa Mosque to reinforce our objectivity. The Church of the Holy Sepulcher, too, maybe? That otta learn 'em. Or just send in the Seals to do Abbas?
16. in his first year Obama said he would recognize Hamas
zionist forever   (05.08.11)
During his first year in office Obama said on the record if Hamas join Fatah in a unity government then the US will recognize and talk with Hamas. Obama just got what he has been wanting all these years, he doesnt want to rock the boat. It wouldn't matter if every member of Congress was telling him to stop giving the money he would probably still look for an excuse to justify continuing it. Even if he suspended it because of political pressure as soon as he would start giving again he would probably give them backpay & interest to make up for the suspension..
17. Please do not cut the aid! It will be cruel and inhumane...
Dan the Jafa ,   Auckland,New Zealand   (05.08.11)
..to european taxpayers.
18. Hamas-Fatah union must be stopped by US, now!!
Gabe ,   Chicago, IL   (05.08.11)
19. CUT AID to both and be done with it
David Kearsy ,   USA   (05.08.11)
The US should stop giving Israel and the Palestinian any money and let them go deal with each other any way they see fit. American kids can use this money for their educations. We have spent billion on Israel for nothing. They are both killers.
20. Yes!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.08.11)
The American people do not want to support terrorism. That's why we spent over $11 billion chasing after bin Laden (may his name be cursed throughout eternity) -- and finding and dispatching him. Hamas is a terrorist organization. Perhaps the European Union will pick up the slack .... at least until their own people rebel. That's coming, too. The ersatz "Palestinians" are in for a rough ride. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of terrorists.
21. #1 abdalla
BENJABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.08.11)
If I were you (thank heaven that I'm not) I wouldn't place any bets on the PA not losing aid Congress is the party in charge of the money, they have to authorize any disbursements If the USA doesn't dole it out, they'll have equal credibility with the Palestinian's, who already have none Since it's American money, you can go and whistle for the next handout
22. Obama
sk ,   USA   (05.08.11)
Never liked nor voted for Obama, but if he cuts funding to the Pali Arabs, that would be fine...btw why the heck doesn't the rich Arab nations sending their fair share of so called aid to the lowlife Arabs, the Palestinians?
23. Now Shalit being held by fartah/ham-ass, NO MONEY.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.08.11)
24. To # 1 Abdalla
Rachel ,   US   (05.08.11)
They won't have credibility if they don't. Besides it's the law. And Abbas said he didn't need US aid so now he can put his money where his mouth is.
25. The yet unexplained meaning of these figures
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (05.08.11)
B"H - "The US Administration has earmarked $550 million to the PA for 2011". - Gentlemen, that's more than 1.5 million dollars a day, day in day out, in every single day of the year! Furthermore, if you consider that the Bible is by far the bestselling book of all time with an estimated diffusion of two and a half billion copies, and that in each and every one of these Bibles it is clearly written that G-d gave to the Jews in eternal inheritance the very lands the so called "palestinians" claim for themselves, it becomes immediately evident just how absurd and un-G-dly this expenditure is.
26. Cut US aid if Hamas OR Fatah join the government
Chaim   (05.08.11)
They are both terrorist groups that killed hundreds of innocent Israelis.
27. i dont agree
anon ,   johannesburg   (05.08.11)
I have been pro-israel for all my life. I don't live in israel, nor do I have to face the terror that people face day in, and day out in souther israel. However, I think the aid should continue. This (unity) is a change... Yes probably a negative one, however, if there is a 1% chance of something good coming out of it... Welll then let's give it a chance. If there is a 1% chance to get Shalit, if there is a chance that would save a single life in sderot... Well I am all for it. I think, now more then ever, let them mess things up. Israel give them a chance, we (the western world) have nothing to lose but time.
28. Hamas mourns the death of Bin Laden
Avi ,   Israel   (05.08.11)
And this is what American tax money is being used for. The Rebulican Senators are 100% correct to call for an end to funding the PA.
29. anon, Johannesberg: It's quite obvious
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (05.08.11)
you are not familiar with Israel, its needs for security and the consequent problems of living amongst neighbours who refuse to accept your right to exist. The socalled 1% chance you write about for a peaceful solution just doesn't exist but there is a 100% chance that more Israeli citizens and foreign visitors and workers will be mutilated through terrorist attacks if Hamas become an even greater force. You sound like a nice but very uninformed man. May I suggest, for one thing, that you actually read the Hamas Charter. You may find it exquisitely educational. Thank you.
30. #8, #27
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.08.11)
#8- Your kind of logic comes from Animal Farm; it is NOT a "palestinian domestic issue" when a group that wants to murder you joins another group [that also wants to murder you but isn't so blatant about it]. Was it an "internal issue" when Japan joined Germany in WW2? Your big words will not throw us off the track of logic; just because you say something, doesn't mean it is so. Especially when you call a country defending itself from murderers, "terrorists". Read some history. On second thought, don't. Keep living in your fantasy land. #27- Disagree, especially because if the US continues aid to the PA & Hamas, it would be a signal to the world that approving a Pal state is ok...and it isn't.
