3. Showing that the Hamas/PA reconcilliation was just a sham...
RobGinChicago ,   Chicago (USA)   (05.17.11)
Headline for this article should be: Showing that the Hamas/PA "Reconcilliation" agreement was just a sham to secure General Assembly Votes in September, Hamas and PA agree to Postpone Elections Until After UN Vote.
4. Transparent Politics
Z   (05.17.11)
This is pretty brilliant political maneuvering albeit rather transparent. Delay the election so that you keep a "unified front" through September, have the UN declare you a state, and then have a terrorist organization rise to hold power. If the world does not see the serious and cataclysmic risk in voting for full statehood then the real war that has been threatening for years will finally come. I hope the international body realizes the maneuvering in play here and votes with a conscious, understanding the risks to their own people, even if thousands of miles away, when voting on this issue that has no standing amongst the majority of the world's population (but since every country has just 1 vote, well, the answer is already predetermined and the largely catastrophic fate will present itself as it comes).
5. WHO CARES ABOUT THE ELECTIONS
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.17.11)
Interesting, the article states; "Gaza officials described the pre-election reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah "a farce," adding they "will not be part of its implications." Now it doesn't mention which Gaza officials stated the "unity" government was a "farce", but what do think they meant by they "will not be part of its implications."? Put simply, and stated immediately before and after the signing, was the reversal of recognizing Israel and its "right to exist". In addition, the reason why Hamas and others do NOT want to give up what they consider to be the "right of return", was simple. Hamas stated, specifically Mr. al-Zahar said that if the Arabs did that, the Arabs would forfeit the right of the "next generation" to use his words exactly, "to take back "all Palestinian lands". Put simply, to destroy Israel at a later date. Yet almost nothing has been said with regards to this?. Why? You would think when leaders in the new "unity government" state quite clearly, they want to retain a right to destroy another member nation of the UN, You would think it would provoke some outrage? Yet it didn't. In fact more people were outraged at the Israeli policeman slapping a Arab women in the face? Than the proclamation of a new Arab entity saying they want to wipe out a country? What's wrong with that picture? Talk about having your priorities screwed up!
6. Dividing up My Land (Joel 3:2)

Dividing Israel a prophecy by the prophet Joel, (Joel 3:2), But nations are going to be dealt with for their treatment on Israel (matthew 24:31-46) This Land belong to the Israelites, not Arabs... Good Day people
7. #4 unfortunatelly the world is too blind !

nobody sees the risk, only we see the danger!
8. The UN vote should take place only after PA elections.
Michael Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (05.17.11)
There should be no UN vote on Palestinian statehood until there is a duly elected government. Only then can UN members see whether the PA government will abide by the UN Charter or not. If a Hamas government (for instance) is elected, its own Hamas Covenant places it in violation of several articles of the UN Charter, which should defeat its bid for statehood. Thie whole "unity reconciliation" is just a farce to get them past a UN vote in September before they make changes that put them in violation of the UN Charter.

You declared statehood already, back in the 1980s. Had you forgotten? Most legitimate countries don't have to do it twice, you know?

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.17.11)
... declaring "statehood" on land controlled by another country. But it isn't going to happen -- the European Union and the United States have declared that the "Palestine" Authority has to recognize the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland and that the State of Israel is a Jewish state. Since without their commitment to the destruction of the State of Israel, the ersatz "Palestinians" have nothing, they will never do that. The United Nations can declare whatever it likes; enforcing that declaration is a very different matter.
13. the date change has nothing to do with Gaza
zionist forever   (05.17.11)
Abbas wants to be able to dedicate all his time between now and September promoting the idea of getting the UN to declare a state in September. No need to waste time election campaigning better to spend it conducting a smear campaign against Israel. There is also the little matter of the legacy of Abbas. He is almost certainly not going to run again so he wants to make sure he is the first president of the new state he hoped the UN will give him in September. The residents of Hamastan don't have to worry about much anyway because once these elections are out the way Hamas will be throwing Fatah people off roof tops once again. This new marriage between Fatah & Hamas will soon end in divorce.
14. ass backwards- as ususal....
Rahel   (05.17.11)
no elections- no UN vote. What is there to vote on without elections? This proves once again that those people don't have the slightest clue about politics or how to run a government...

all the miracles that have happend to the jewish people were not random. it was COMMON but special people that made those miracles. i know, abbas is evil and no one gets that. but only if we stick togeter and love each other he won't be able to destroy us. the random arab tribes claiming to be a nation won't deffit the real nation and mishpoche (family) of am israel and the 12 real tribes. it's time to love each other and stay united!!!!!!!

17. 5 MONTHS TO MOBILIZE DEMOCRATS
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (05.17.11)
No sign of democracy with Fatah and Hamas. If these elections will really be free and fair, there's no reason to suppose that either Fatah or Hamas will be returned to office. It's only their arrogance that makes them suppose that the people will vote for them if given other choices. If the Palestinian Arabs want to be seen as capable of having a free, democratic state, they'd better stop voting like sheep for anti-democratic tyrants like Abbas,Haniyeh and their corrupt cronies. It's up to them. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
