Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.17.11)
The entire Arab enterprise is exterminate us. They have stated this and the entire world including people like Bibi continue to ignore it. The only answer is to reclaim ALL of our lands and expel all foreigners.
2. So why then did Jordan occupy Palestine??
Mike ,   Atlanta USA   (05.17.11)
3. now the world will realize the kind
jepeto ,   lalaland   (05.17.11)
of lies the arabs are spreading. and netanyahu forgot about something very significant: in the decision of 1947 the UN decided about two countries 1 jewish state called israel 2 and an arab state with no name. the word palestinians does not appear in that context. indeed, abbas is the biggest lier ever!!!!!
4. in his OWN words in March 1976 ...
ita ,   israel   (05.17.11)
The Arab armies entered Palestine to protect the Palestinians from the Zionist tyranny but, instead, they abandoned them, forced them to emigrate and to leave their homeland, and threw them into prisons similar to the ghettos in which the Jews used to live.” — PLO spokesman Mahmud Abbas (“Abu Mazen”), Falastin a-Thaura, March 1976
5. The NYTimes should be ashamed of itself
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.17.11)
Have the editors of the NYTimes no decency? Why did they accept an Oped which contains such obvious denial of historical fact? As for the Palestinians their leaders simply lack any capacity for being objective and fair at all. Prime Minister Netanyahu would be wise not to make a single concession to those who are not ready for real peace.
6. #1 - expel all foreigners?
seadog1946 ,   ArthurKill, NY   (05.17.11)
Didn't most Israelis immigrate to Israel from somewhere else? Perhaps you should define what makes a foreigner in Israel?
7. Bibi is just realizing Abbas + Arabs are pathological liars?
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.17.11)
8. Arabs Are Desperate: can't handle Israel
EZ ,   US   (05.17.11)
In a pathetic and insane effort to continue their policy of demonizing Israel, the Palestinians will go down in history as perhaps the most peculiar group of people ever to walk the earth. Such absurd statements and claims indeed reveals the Arabs can't handle or deal with Israels existence and refusal to give up it's historic homeland. It's simple stupidity, frustration and cultural attributes mark the Arabs for total failure in their quest to oust Israel: it just won't happen. The world must accept that, period.
9. GOOD Bibi. Say it Loud Say it Proud. "Push the Jews into the
Palestinian Jew ,   Whitewashed, World   (05.17.11)
Sea" was the battle cry of the arab world. what abbas is doing is called the spin game. problem is the world believes things that are repeated again and again. something liars are very good at.
10. WORSE: This and previous Israeli govt have ignored int'l law
Marcella   (05.17.11)
This and previous Israeli governments have deliberately ignored important and vital international law documents that support Israel's right to the heartland and to its present borders. It is because of their disregard for these key elements in Israel's modern history that the country is fighting a losing battle against Arab claims to the land. The Office for Israeli Constitutional Law site has a good compilation of documents from the time of the League of Nations that are still valid. The United Nations is bound by the League of Nations agreements. It is shocking to see how Israel itself is not standing up for its legal right to the land.
11. They fabricate heir fictional stories, stitched them to...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.17.11)
...quilts full of fabrications that they then call them "narrative". Sadly, they believe their fabrications/"narratives", and some in the world not only believe them but conduct their foreign policy based on these fabrications, e.g. Barack H. Obama.
12. Instead of giving $100 million to the
Israeli 2   (05.17.11)
government officials, you could have given it to the poor who truly need it. Then go ahead and argue history.
13. as long as i remmember
just an old grandpa   (05.17.11)
and yes i lived in israel in israel on 1948 i was 6 the arabs from syria jordan lebanon egypt iraq and even from marocco came to a attack and inhilate the jews in our new born country. ther was a fortification in jerusalem and we had nothing to eat. in the end the jewish minority won that forced war. i don't think abbas was even born at 1947 or maybe he was too young to remmember. anyways, lieing about something so meaningful is just deplorable!!!!!
14. Meaningless
john   (05.17.11)
Abbas' piece was an ad hominem article - nothing more, nothing less.
15. Bibi
Dan ,   Jerusalem   (05.17.11)
Bibi is the best for Israel at this critical moment !!
16. There would be no Israel
Hammam   (05.17.11)
Israel wouldn't exist if it didn't expel the Palestinians from what became the Jewish state. It had to expel them, so the Israeli version of events makes no sense!
17. Masters of Deception
Yehiel ,   Teaneck, NJ   (05.17.11)
Arabs have long been known as pathalogical liars and masters of deception, as well as ongoing whiners and bellyachers. It's in their blood, DNA and culture.
18. streap this man down from his lies!!!
barbara grinbaum ,   Florida   (05.17.11)
i demand an oe-pd of benjamin netanyahu with the real facts backed with the autentic papers from the UN. abbas got bossted with a big dirty lie. and everybody needs to hear about it. except that, there are in the BBC archive some articles from 1947 that show the truth clearly as it was back in 1947. the world forggot it's own valuse, we need to show the world how things looked like on 1947. it was nothing like they were convinced to imagen today.
19. Mr. Abbas ....
sk ,   USA   (05.17.11)
Hey Abbas, how do you account for the over 1 million Arabs holding Israeli citizenship living in Israel???? Want to come up with another story you pathetic liar????
20. Abu Mazen is a Holocaust denier too.
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.17.11)
How can you tell when Abu Mazen is lying? His lips are moving.
21. Great point #3
Ron ,   Boston, USA   (05.17.11)
Hey Abbas, if, as you say, the Arab armies "intervened [to stop the "expulsion"], why did Jordan help itself to the West Bank instead of giving it to you for your state? Great friends you have!
22.  “Right of Return”
avi ,   ashdod-israel   (05.17.11)
The so called “Right of Return” The unabashed war aim of the pan-Arab invasion, clearly encouraged by the local Arab population, was total extermination of the Jews. To think that the Palestinians and their brother nations believe Israel will accept the return of such so-called “refugees” is bizarre. • First because 90 percent or more of the “refugees” alive today never even lived in Palestine! • Second because the overwhelming majority had voluntarily evacuated themselves based on the insistent urging of their leaders to get out while their armies made good on their war aim. • Third, they feared punishment as renegades or collaborators if they did not obey the call of their leaders to get out and permit the Arab soldiers to bulldoze their way in and make short shrift of the Jews. • Fourth, they did not want to be in a war zone where combatants were fighting and killing each other. Thus it was that the majority of “refugees” fled voluntarily. They believed the promise of a short, bloody war and all the Jewish treasure that would become theirs when they returned. They have as little “right of return” as the Jewish refugees of the time have, to return to the Arab states which forced them out. These Jews however, do have a right to compensation because they never fled voluntarily. Moreover they never wanted to exterminate their hosts nor obliterate their states from the world map.
23. It's all in thr archives - even 'Great' Britain cannot ignor
Angry and appalled ,   Manchester UK   (05.17.11)
e history in black and white. Obtain them and print them and distribute throughout the world. We should all know what the British have done to Israel since before and after it's rebirth in 1948. 'Great' Britain broke the legal and binding Balfour Declaration and the then League of Nations (UN) mandate by trying to thwart the rebirth of Israel by allowing a fictitious state Jordan to occupy 82 % of the mandated land - what was supposed to be 50/50 % Jewish and arab ... Israel because of 'Great' Britain only received 18 % landmass. This is ILLEGAL, and 'Great' Britain should be made to answer to it's massive failings ... the UK is solely responsible. Israelis ought to be the angry mob not the equally fictitious 'palestinians'! And all because British 'leaders' wanted unlimited access to the Suez Canal. Britain is beginning to receive it's just desserts .... muslims are beginning to overwhelm our towns and cities. Britain deserves all that these islamic monsters will give us when it comes, it's only a matter of time now. I hope the Suez was worth all the bloodshed in pipeline.
24. I must admit, Bibi is right!
Salma, Palestine   (05.17.11)
25. Historical Lies!
max ,   washington dc   (05.17.11)
Both the New York Times and the Washington Post print articles, op eds and letters which distort Historical Facts. One would think they wre funded by Arab Oil Money!
26. JOSEPH GEBELS ONCE SAID:
mother of 2   (05.17.11)
" if you repeat a lie enough times it will become the new thruth" abbas has some nazi tactics
27. #16, read #4, theres your answer, #15, I totally agree
Jake ,   USA   (05.17.11)
I have much respect for Bibi in this critical time. I don't understand most of his moves, but I appreciate his ability to stand up for what most Israelis and Jews hold dear (Jerusalem in particular). I also don't believe that his offer of statehood is a true offer at all. It is merely a political ploy needed to deflect the onslaught of pressure he received the moment he took office. His offer hasn't changed and it will never be accepted by the obstinate Arabs.
28. Ignorant Seadog #6
Stephen in New York   (05.17.11)
Most Israeli Jews were born in Israel. That is a demographic fact that anyone can confirm. You bark a lot, Seadog, but know little.
29. Jews also rejected the partition plan
DemtheFacts ,   USA   (05.17.11)
The difference was that the Palestinians and Arab states voted against it at the UN, while the Jews murdered the UN's envoy Count Folke Bernodotte and his driver to show their displeasure with the partition proposed by the UN.
30. UNGAR 181 was not a binding resolution
DemBdaFacts ,   USA   (05.17.11)
Far too many believe the falsehood that the UN created a Jewish state in what was then called Palestine, when that is absolutely not true. The UN General Assembly did not have the power or legal authority to do so and merely passed a resolution to forward the matter on to the Security Council with their recommendations. Later the UNSC sent their envoy Count Folke Bernodotte to the Palestine to make recommendations, but he and his driver were murdered by Zionist extremists to prevent him from reporting back to the Security Council. Israel was created by unilateral declaration by its founders without any UN authority to do so, which is why the Palestinians and Arab states resisted.
