..." I was nearly killed on the Suez Canal"... -some 40 years ago. Oh dear -begging the pity ???
32. Dogs bark while caravans pass
David M.   (05.25.11)
This is a very appropriate Arab proverb to be used here. Bibi's speech was fantastic! The irrelevant Europe and very soon to be extinct newspapers will continue to bark whenever they feel that Israel and Jews have support from anyone. They just cannot stand to see Jews successful and proud having getting used to kicking them for centuries. And the same applies to the Arabs. Europeans and Arabs certainly deserve each other. Let's just wait and see how their great love affair will end.
33. Usual choice-Israel follows US president
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (05.25.11)
What a wonderful turn about. It's about time that Israel's own position as reflected by our democratically elected PM, takes precedence over the US president. The American people show themselves worthy of respect, and from a personal view point a more appropriate president.
34. I went to Luxembourg, once..

35. #6 Brian Your comment on stolen land
Ivan ,   South Africa   (05.25.11)
are you sure you are not getting confused with Robert Mugabe and Zimbabwe? In 1967 Israel was forced into war.
36. No AIPAC in Europe
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.25.11)
America's influence in Europe is declining. At the bottom line, the Europeans will do to us what they did to the South Africans.

38. To: Tiki at No. 27
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.25.11)
You are so right! Anti-Israel sentiment is really nothing more than good old-fashioned Jew hatred. Instead of taking out their wrath on individual Jews (something at which the Europeans have excelled), they vent their baseless rage on the most concrete, visible symbol of the Jewish people -- the State of Israel. The fact that Israel has made great leaps and strides while Europe sinks deeper and deeper into the morass only serves to heighten their jealousy and rage. Am Israel Chai!
39. Robert Malley the Hamas supporter
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (05.25.11)
Robert Malley who supported Hamas even Obama had to let him go when he was found to having talks with Hamas.Robert Malley whose Mother supported the the Algerian Terrorists.Robert Malley had a Father who was close to Nasser and stated the Egyptian Communist Party.Robert Malley whose Father was thrown out of France for pro Soviet activities as well as being a long time supporter of Philistine terrorism. As far as the N.Y.T. it had to take a loan from a Mexican of Lebanese /Assyrian heritage. You see the N.Y.T. was losing advertisers and had one of the lowest circulations of any Major U.S. Newspaper.People realized the reporting had Editorializing mixed in as well as being the most Left wing Newspaper in the U.S.

42. The world of AntiSemites barks
Brod ,   USA   (05.25.11)
The world of AntiSemites is barking like a pack of wolves. They think they can control Judeo-Christian America to do their dirty work of crusading against Israel. These dark forces are full of hate and venom led by their Luciferian god that has been waging war against Israel since ancient time. Obama speaks for himself. He does not represent Judeo-Christian America that supports Israel. The dark forces were trying to manipulate Obama to become their dog against Israel. Congress-the America people say NO to the dark forces.

44. Netanyahu's speech at U.S. Congress
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (05.25.11)
"an American president scrambling to improve his nation's image in the Muslim world" - wow - sounds to me like the man is a traitor to his country. Obama wants to make nicety nice to the Muslims so that there wouldn't be another 9/11 ?
45. We know the spin of the Antisemites...

46. Abdel Khader #11
Mickey ,   Sydney Australia   (05.25.11)
I don't understand why a billion Muslims will rise for Jerusalem. Jerusalem is not mentioned even once in the Koran. It has nothing to do with Islam except for a mosque that was built there 500 years after Mohammed died..
47. Obama has made speeches to the Arab world...
Keren ,   IL-BR   (05.25.11)
Obama has trampled leaders all over the world, without respect to their sovereigty. He and his predecessors have invading countries, taking charges of their wealth and creating unrest all over the world, with their selfish arrogant policies. Now that a frank man, leader of Israel, makes a powerful speech to his friends in US and is heavily applauded, these shallow poor beings complain. They would better perform as well as Bibi did and be applauded for their merits, but as they seem incapable of such a think, what remains to them is the old tactic of trampling those better than them ,in order to keep looking well to the public in their obcene, disgusting pride. Please, you envious leaders out there: START BEING MENCH(real, honored men)AND YOU'LL BE APPLAUDED FOR 29 MINUTES TOO!!!
48. The beauty of democracy
Golani ,   Vineland, USA   (05.25.11)
.The way a democracy works is that if a US President is completely wrong about something, congress and the American people are allowed to speak and express themselves. This is the case here. The US president was totally wrong. Congress and the majority of the American public understand, and they support Israel and unfortunately much of the rest of the world is morally bankrupt and no longer understands right from wrong. I don't need to get into a history lesson here, but the land of Israel has been just that for thousands of years. Palestine was the name that was given at one point and who were the Palestinians until 1948? Yes, they were the Jewish people. There has also been an indigenous Arab population in the land of Israel too living among the Jewish population; however most of the Arabs that claim to be Palestinians today came from other countries just to come along for the ride. Israel has many Arab citizens that enjoy full democratic rights and that are part of the beauty of Israel, the democracy. Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish nation for thousands of years and was only divided between 1948 and 1967. Jerusalem should never be divided again. Maybe the rest of the world should listen to Mr. Netanyahu as well and the world would be a better and more peaceful place.
49. Under the bus
Mickey ,   Sydney Australia   (05.25.11)
Obama wanted to throw Israel under the bus by blindsiding Netanyahu with the so called '1967 borders'. What happened with Netanyahu's speech in Congress is that Obama was thrown under the bus. Obama brought this humiliation on himself
50. "US jews choose between their president & PM of israel"??
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.25.11)
well, just elect another president that isn't as terrible as this one (it's hard to do worse than THE worst) and US jews won't have to make that "false" choice. easy.

Conservative talk show hosts like Limabaugh, Hannity, Levine for an example that keep pushing Likud's agenda and hammer Pres. Obama for his stance on this subject lost 33% and 28% of listeners since the confrontation started so did the others promoting an unconditional support for Israel ,... America is waking up only the idiots and the V - column on Capitol Hill are missing the train ,...
54. Criticism stops at the water's edge, my foot.
Chris ,   Dallas, America   (05.25.11)
"By openly siding with Netanyahu against Obama and making Arab-Israeli peace a partisan issue, Republicans in Congress are at serious risk of crossing a dangerous line and in the process undermining US interests in the Middle East." Hmmm. Maybe this gentleman didn't listen to Harry Reid's speech at AIPAC. He made some of the Repubs look like Arafat wannabeez in comparison. A serious fact of US politics: Dems get the Jewish Zionist vote and Repubs get the Christian Zionist vote. I think the Dems lost the latter during the latter stages of Carter into the Reagan era. Thus Israel is well represented at Congress. Palestinians may have ten votes out of 535 on a very, very good day. It was Harry Truman, btw, who started making Middle East politics into domestic poltics long before this present set of Tea Partiers, etc. And the overall Congress is divided in terms of the two parties. However, when it comes to the Arab Israel conflict, especially with Syria in turmoil, the vast majority in Congress vote Israel. There is one Congressman who swore on a Koran when he took his oath of office. He probably was very lonely when Bibi came into town.
55. To Brian van Rooyen of Cape Town
Purple Canary ,   TA, Israel   (05.25.11)
Please, do yourself a favor and learn some history - the factual kind, not the distortions of those who scheme to destroy Israel. Israel did not steal land in 1967! Egypt closed the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping, made treaties with Syria and Jordan and, together with Syria massed armies on Israel's northern and southern borders. Israel was attacked by the Jordanian Legionnaires AFTER Eshkol (Israeli PM) appealed directly to King Hussein, promising not to attack Jordan. To no avail! Oh, what's the use. You're the one who's being arrogant and stubborn. Or you willfully do not know history or your mindset is such that you don't want to know anything that might vindicate the Jews. Sad person.
56. to #11: "declaration of war"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.25.11)
jerusalem is not mentioned in the koran, so why would billions of moslems care? in typical fashion, arab leaders are lying to their uneducated masses, telling them fables about "al-quds", just as they did in the 12th century to rally them against the crusaders. (the proper name happens to be "al-quds al yahoud" - holy place of the jews.) it is indicative of the "holiness" of jerusalem to moslems, that during the time that jerusalem was under jordanian occupation, from 1948-1967, not a single moslem leader visited the "third holiest site in islam", whilst millions visit mecca annually. but if it really is a declaration of war, why should israel care? the arab countries have been completely unsuccessful in waging war against israel, and in spite of their grandiose posturing, are still begging to get back the lands that they lost in previous wars. now, if the arab countries would ever threaten peace, then israelis should be very afraid!

noa ,   israel   (05.25.11)
Bibi knows how to talk and say the right things, but I think so much is hidden under the carpet, and he simply doesn't want peace. As a dual citizen of both Israel and the U.S., I am embarrassed by his shameless tactics.
59. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.25.11)
Really? If Jerusalem is so important, why is it never mentioned in the Qu'ran? Jerusalem is extraordinarly important to the Jewish people, which is why it is mentioned over 600 times in the Old Testament. If something's important, you talk about it a lot. Yet not a single word in the Qu'uran about Jerusalem. The evidence -- therefore the conclusion -- is incontrovertible; here, let me walk you through it: 1. Jews have prayed for the peace of Jerusalem, longed to return to Jerusalem, recite the words "next year in Jerusalem" at every seder, pray facing Jerusalem and refer to Jerusalem in our Bible over six hundred times. 2. There is no mention of Jerusalem in the Qu'uran. Moslems pray facing Mecca, not Jerusalem, and are obligated to make pilgrimage (i.e., haj) to Mecca, not Jerusalem. 3. While Moslems had nominal control of Jerusalem, its holy places were allowed to fall into disgraceful neglect. 4. When Israel unified the city of Jerusalem in 1967, a program was immediately instituted to repair the holy sites, implement an infrastructure and beautify the Old City. 5. No one has loved and revered Jerusalem the way the Jews have loved and revered Jerusalem. 6. Jerusalem is the eternal undivided capital of the State of Israel; it is the linchpin of both the State of Israel and the people Israel (i.e., the Jews). One billion Moslems worldwide to rise for Jerusalem? Don't you people ever deal in reality?
