31. #2 Nour, one state
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (05.26.11)
I would not be so happy about this if I were you. Actually this is good for Israel. The pressure is all on Egypt now. Say good bye to Sinai. You will get Gazan tourist thier from now. But these are the ones that will not leave. Gaza is and was Egypt. Please supply the needs if oyu can with your crippled economy. There will be a civil war in Egypt very very soon.
32. EGYPT OPENS TERRORISTS CROSSING!
GLENN ,   YUCAIPA,USA   (05.26.11)
33. It's about time
Leon ,   Ottawa, Canada   (05.26.11)
This immoral blockade should be lifted because Gazans need the freedom of movment. When they want to leave Gaza, they should not have to beg Israel. The weapons argument is nonsense. Yeah I guess Hamas can now smuggle fighter jets and tanks in people's hand bags or in the trunks of cars. There isn't enough room in Gaza to fire even a medium range missile. I guess Hamas can eventually make cement missiles that will pollute israeli farmer's fields. What a threat to Israel's existence.
34. #2 - to you Egypt - a new Egyptian State..
William ,   Israel   (05.26.11)
of Gaza. With love - the people of Israel
35. #4 - Gazans already have plenty of gas
William ,   Israel   (05.26.11)
from eating such an abundance of food.
36. #6 - it would appear that way
William ,   Israel   (05.26.11)
except that armed resistance wasn't used against Egypt, it was used against Israel...and Israel didn't budge. I know...I know...it's logical and that's not the language of terrorists, but the honeymoon period (maybe) will end when Egypt becomes held responsible for the mayhem entering Gaza under their supervision. If Israel wants to really reward the Gazans, they'd shut the lights off, lock the door, and encourage Cairo to supply them with gas pronto.
37. #12- you do know Egypt is connected to Gaza by land, right?
William ,   Israel   (05.26.11)
you can always open the border to the caravan of fools after they land at El-Arish. The boats won't be getting to Gaza via Egyptian waters because the IDF is right there at the border, plus they have no port next to Egypt. Though they are welcome to try. Can't wait to hear the maritime SOS when they run aground.
38. #13 - regarding Lebanon, are you ready to dance?
William ,   Israel   (05.26.11)
Didn't think so.
39. #18 - Gaza doesn't have potable underground water
William ,   Israel   (05.26.11)
They ruined it back in the early 1990s because they wouldn't stop pumping it after Israel warned them several times. Now the aquifer is ruined. Israel offered them, through the Oslo Accords, water and even brought in the large pipes up to the border. Somehow, between stocking away billions of dollars, leading terror attacks, and touching young boys, Arafat never got around to actually building the pipes on the Gaza side - so it all fell apart. You can't sue Israel for your own stupidity.
40. Do you know how many Gazans want to get the hell out??
William ,   Israel   (05.26.11)
There's many, especially young, who have been begging to get out of Gaza but Hamas wouldn't let them. With an open border, I expect to see many skilled, ambitious people getting the hell out while they can and joining family in US or Europe. What will be left is old people and terrorists - a perfect combination for a successful "Palestinian" State.
41. Egypt was never signatory of border crossing agreement
observer ,   Egypt   (05.26.11)
with Israel, the US and EU. Even one year later in 2006, the agreement expired. Countries are obliged to break the siege on Gaza according to the 4th Geneva Convention and compelled to do so by the jus cogens, Israel committed war crimes in Gaza as per UN reports.
42. ANOTHER DISTRACTION
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.26.11)
Oh well, what did you expect? Israel can monitor the crossing with satellites and drones, when they find something suspicious will see what happens? Israel always finds a way, the Arabs are conspiring as they always do, to hurt Israel. After all who supported the smuggling tunnels? Egypt! Does anybody really think that Egypt couldn't find tunnels large enough to drive Semi Trucks through. With AC, Electricity, lighting, well reenforced to prevent cave ins. Come on. So now Egypt is publicly doing what they have covertly doing for years. With the border guards being bribed and who knows who else. The Arabs and their governments literally run on pure corruption, everybody knows that. So they just turning the rage of the Egyptian people, from the protests, which really brought NO change whatsoever. Egypt was, and still is, a military dictatorship, as it's been since Nasser took over in the mid 1950's. When the military doesn't provide fair elections, they need a scapegoat, guess who that will be?
43.  yay that is awesome news
masrawy ,   egypt   (05.26.11)
Hamas and Fateh are now reconciled Rafah is open all thanks to a new Egypt this is such a good month for Palestine Italy like many other European countries have upgraded ties with Palestine and no rockets from Israel for a long time now
44. #21 do you also read Haaretz
masrawy ,   egypt   (05.26.11)
45. Mubarak's ouster was a gift to mankind.
Hakim ,   Palestine   (05.26.11)
46. The may soon be a shortage of Human Shields in Gaza
meir elazar   (05.26.11)
It may just end up being a one way door to Egypt. Once the PALs can escape the tyranny of HAMAS and all the other terrorist groups this may end up being another Naqba for Gaza. On the other hand, other Arabs countries have learned about all the problems that PALs cause and have kept them locked up in refugee camps for years or expelled them (ie Jordan Black september and Lebanon). Once Egypt realized the problems they will inherit they may change their mind. But in the meantime many PALs will leave permanently. This will change the demgraphics and the objectives of the next war in Gaza. US will fund more Iron Domes. Al Zahar will continue to put his foot in his mouth and undermine the PALs legitimacy before the world. This may end up being very good.
47. little freedom for Palestinians
carla ,   rome   (05.26.11)
Beautiful little freedom for Palestinians,
48. #43 - masrawy - I pray Almighty makes your words cometrue
nathan rai ,   bangalore   (05.26.11)
Lets hope that Allah wills it that way. Just thinking about it makes the sunlight seem golden..
49. #41 observer - PROVE it !
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (05.26.11)
The FACT-FREE twit strikes again! - "Egypt was never signatory" (sic) In that case, the FOGGY observer has to ERASE all documented reports that stated the exact OPPOSITE. - "Even one year later in 2006, the agreement expired" And that's because it is SUBJECTED to bilateral yearly REVIEW. And it is renewed EVERY time. - "Countries are obliged to break the siege on Gaza according to the 4th Geneva Convention" DARE to qoute EXACT article? Yeah, that's what I thought. - " Israel committed war crimes in Gaza as per UN reports" Again, DARE to list the reports?
50. Hamas "welcomes decision"
Ben ,   USA   (05.26.11)
Any decision that is welcomed by Hamas is not in the best interests of Israel, and anyone seeking peace. The new Egypt is showing.
