1. Religion divides love unites
Haim ,   Tel aviv   (06.02.11)
2. Remember, The Haredim opposed Zionism
Baily ,   USA   (06.02.11)
to begin with. They tried to come to agreements with the Arabs even prior to the onset of the Jewish State. Their moderater was killed by the seculars (Dahan). So this article is clearly a distortion of facts, and as many other ynet NEWS, is actualy merely an instigation of hatred towards Haredim
3. Mulahs
Ariel ,   São Paulo - Brazil   (06.02.11)
And the Mulahs , and school books of palestinians do not enter in the poll ????
4. no 3
gdfathermax ,   tel aviv israel   (06.02.11)
you are so right. in any event our torah teaches us to destroy our enemies down to the last person or they'll come back to haunt us in the future. time we stopped making excuses for our behaviour. our enemy's want to destroy us. period.
5. Religion IS the problem
ara ,   tehran   (06.02.11)
Religion must fade into oblivion in order for there to be any chance of world peace. This can't happen suddenly though - it must be gradual or there will not be time for society and individuals to adapt. Probably many generations will pass before it can be a reality. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and other religious systems all insist that they have some sort of claim to a "truth". People die every day because of these supposedly peaceful belief systems. They are just rogue programs in the computer of the brain; malware of a sort, that must be removed in order for proper operation of the system.
6. Hate
moti ,   rbs   (06.02.11)
why does ynet publish these stupid articles that cause rift in society
7. Sanhedrin NOW!
Yoni ,   Shomron   (06.02.11)
Am Yisrael, don't buy this leftist/ant-Semitism CRAP! The wise and courageous National Zionist rabbi's are our TRUE leaders -- not the corrupt, egotistical politicians! We want the SANHEDRIN NOW! Enough with all these stupid, misled political "advisors". We want leaders who are connected to GOD!
8. Why don t you ask the Muslim s...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.02.11)
with whom ,[the secular or orthodoxe] they would rather make peace?
9. the rabbi? our calamity - 63% seculars agree
Sym   (06.02.11)
They do make conflicts worse; always did. That religion is the opium of mankind, is a miserable fact of life. When aroused in his beliefs, it reduces man to a beast.. And to you Shomron # 7 - I don't want leaders connected to your god, any god. Their contribution to our country is ZILCH, they corrupt everything. With them in charge, Israel will cease to exist.
10. who hates who
chaim witz ,   brazil   (06.02.11)
I suggest you to buy a sample of the AlQuram, open it, consult the terms 'jews' and 'israelites' in the remissive index, and take your own conclusions on who hates who.
11. adonai yeshua ha´mashiaj
cristian ,   buenos aires arg   (06.02.11)
religion and nationality are only titles, the torah of the mashiaj is a simple way of life doing and saying righteousness, mercy, love and shalom to each other, simple human beings who were all born, growing up and die.The term of eternal life taught by the mashiaj is to respect each other,to trust each other,to be faithful each other ,to really live this life and only die by natural death not provoked by ourselves, life is too short to stay quarreling foolish things and make them seriously to become us full of hatred which is the worst sick of men, there is no god in this world to control us because if it would exist there wasn´t evil in life and we know that evil exists ,and as religion and nationality are just titles, there are many more but open the eyes :human beings come from the dust and we will return to dust some day and our existencial meaning is to really practice justice and everyone can have a good time and have fun to enjoy the life, that´s why we are here so have a good life!
12. Discrimination by Ignorance
Dovid ,   Monsey, NY, USA   (06.02.11)
What do secularists really know about Rabbinic positions on religions that seek our conversion, subjugation, or elimination. Were the survey responders asked to what extent Imams and Mullahs contribute to the hatred and violence against Jews? I doubt they even looked at whether socialists, communists, white supremacists, or other social, economic, or religious groups affect Jewish/Islamic relations. It sounds like Weismann is ready to give away anything for compromise. If so, perhaps he should move to any of the Arab/Muslim countries and experience first hand how the locals treat Jews, when Rabbis aren't involved. In fact do the survey there.
13. RABBIS
LT COL HOWARD ,   WASHINGTON DC   (06.03.11)
I have had exposure to rabbis ranging from messianic (believers in Jesus), liberal reform, conservative, and a wide range of the Orthodox. I have found that the most accepting and tolerant are the Orthodox. The most intolerant are the liberal reform. Secular liberal Jews are very free to voice opinions–––very strong opinions–––on topics that they know nothing about. In this case the secular press rails against the Orthodox rabbis and the secular Jews eat it up because it confirms their biases and prejudices. A major cause of the hatred is the unrelenting preaching of Islamic religious authorities. That is the fact. As a experienced statistician and surveyor I know that all depends on how you phrase your question. Since this news article did not give me access to the questions I can only question the motivation of the surveyors. And I do question their motivation–as should all of your readers.
14. #5
Yosef ,   Boca   (06.03.11)
Dear Ara: If that is the case how do you explain the anti religious secular Nazi regime dragging most nations in the world in to a world war???? Was religion the cause of that war? Or people that think like you that wanted to wipe it out of the map?
15.  false premise
Choose Life ,   Bumblephuk, NJ   (06.03.11)
The article is based on a false premise! If the Arabs laid down their weapons and declared that they were no longer fighting. What would happen the day after? If the Israelis laid down their weapons and declared that they were no longer fighting. What would happen the day after? The suggestion that Israelis (any Israeli) are the cause of the problem is FALSE!
16. Poll: "Seculars Hurt Peace" 92%
ZAL ,   US   (06.03.11)
The rife divisions among Seculars; their tendency NOT to have a coherent life philosophy (but rather a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants mentality) and their selfishness and nonchalant attitude has helped fuel more problems and conflicts with the Arabs than anyone else. Let's not forget that Israel has a secular govt. Now, who has worsened the conflict with the Arabs? The "Rabbis" as it says here? It's sad to see the mental capacity of Israelis at an all time low: the world blames Israel for almost all of it's problems: Israel blames the Rabbis (in a mirrored action)...now how pathetic is that? The idea of giving so much power to such a tiny group is ludicrous: Israel is NOTORIOUSLY secular and hedonistic: THAT'S what it's known for, that is the majority and they are the ones most responsible for any bad relations with the Arabs more than anyone. Perhaps it's the rampant racism towards Arabs among Seculars? You see how silly it sounds to point fingers at someone else? NO, the Seculars nor the rabbis have worsened the conflict in any way shape or form. It is the Arabs themselves who have provided the folly and fanned the fires of hatred against the Jews. The very idea of Jews questioning established internal culture to attempt to assign blame is exactly what the enemy wants. This poll was dangerous, idiotic and completely worthless. It's time for Jews to Define the actual PHILOSOPHIES which endanger it, not the JEWS themselves since we've all swung left to right to center a million times on different issues: it's not a simple formula that can be addressed by a divisive poll. We Israelis must be strengthened by our love for each other and resolve to honor our blood bonds instead of europeanizing ourselves: Europe is NO example for peace and prosperity they ARE an example of the failed policies of prejudice, rape and plunder which they carried out countless times up to just a few decades ago (yeah: the Hague is trying a European for genocide IN EUROPE right now). We are miDdle eastern: the west was where we were FORCED to stay for millennia but that time is past and NOW IS THE TIME FOR ISRAEL TO DEFINE ITSELF: FOR JEWS TO BOND TOGETHER WITH RESOLVE AND NEVER RELINQUISH OUR SPECIAL UNITY FOR ANYONE IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD. Chai Yisrael! Chai Yehudim!
17. DON'T blame the rabbis...blame the
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.04.11)
enemies of the Jewish state !
18. #14 - because Secularism too is a "religion"
William ,   Israel   (06.05.11)
Secularism, closely aligned with "Liberalism", is not the anti-thesis to religion. Religion is the narrow focus on one ideology. Do not Leftists also prescribe without reservation narrowly to one ideology? And don't they too insist they have all the answers and all others are ignorants needing to be educated and led? The opposite of religion is not "secularism", it's having NO ideology outside of "everyone is equal" and "everyone is loved and should be loved by all"
