31. Bulls-eye. You can't trust Obama.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (05.29.11)
That should be the campaign slogan for the 2012 election. A liar & a con man.
32. Israel can't DEPEND upon Obama
moshe ,   Tivon   (05.29.11)
President Obama has chosen an uncertain path which makes USA foreign policy dependent upon the Arab street. In doing so, Obama has gambled with America's future. Oil, Iran , Saudi Arabia, the Arab street are very important factors , but Captain Obama has abandoned the helm. Obama gives elegant speeches , while allowing the American ship to flounder broadside to the Middle Eatern " waves" Netanyahu has but ONE task: to insure Israel's survival. If Obama proves correct: Israel will not face a crisis of survival. If Obama's ass kissing fails, the damage to Israel interests will be minimized. In either case the USA remains Israel's friend, in spite of Pres Obama's indifference. moshe
33. How about refusing his money????
franz von fear   (05.29.11)
.....Israhells hypocricy goes on and on and on.
34. Has anyone listened to Fatah radio/tv lately
LR ,   USA   (05.29.11)
the biggest lie is that Fatah is a nice little peace group when they want to destroy Israel as much as Hamas does. This is not good cop bad cop but same bad cop that changes uniforms.
35. Yea, like Eric Cantor
Zak   (05.29.11)
Good Israel lovin Jewish boy and R-from Virginia. But I don't know if he's up for the running....
36. this article is more self-justifying right-wing rubbish...
Rafi ,   US   (05.29.11)
37. abramovich #2 &#3
Jrodstein ,   Basalt, Colorado   (05.29.11)
obummer is very bad for the long term well being of the U.S. Some Jews care about Israel more than being liberal even if not being very religious. Some Jews are just more liberal than they are Jewish. Liberal is supposed to mean open minded, it has come to mean closed minded, liberal way or the high way. I used to always vote Democratic, I stopped when Obummer ran for president!
38. Obama A Disaster for Israel, A Disaster for America
Joe K ,   Silicon Valley, USA   (05.29.11)
Time for the great gong of history to remove this empty suit from his position of power. Jews who trust Obama are delusional. Obama, like Carter, was a knee jerk reaction to a ridiculous political situation. Time to wake up and smell the coffee. Hopefully, like Carter, he will be soundly thrown out of office before doing any more damage to American prestige or Israel. Obama is an enemy of the Jewish People and Israel. The sooner we get clear on his intentions, and brush aside liberal sympathies and Obama apologetics, the sooner we can effectively defend ourselves from this antiSemite's machinations. Make no mistake. Obama is an antisemite.
39. We already know that Obama is dangerous for Israel...
Lobo ,   USA   (05.29.11)
We also all know how clueless he is with regards to the ME. Those in America also know that he is clueless about how the USA works. While I refuse to vote for Obama in 2012, I hope that the Republicans bring someone that knows what they are doing. If not, then we can expect another 4 years of BHO's BS
40. no. 3 inane comment
rich ,   Miami ok. usa   (05.29.11)
An individuals geographic location or things such as whether or not they did army service are logically unrelated to an individuals intelligence or the value of their opinions. Yet leftists on Israeli related issues are constantly referring to these irrelevant points Perhaps this is because their point of view is devoid of any logic or substance and must be defended by personal attacks. There are a multitude of reasons why this author may live in the US, Financial, educational, familial ,etc none of which are the commentators business or in any way connected to the quality of the author's opinion..
41. Yes, call upon your AIPAC Lackeys aka US Congressmen
James ,   USA   (05.29.11)
Israel must call upon its army of AIPAC lackeys, aka US Congressmen, to do Israel's bidding and block UN approval of the Palestinian State. Ironically, Israel itself was UNILATERALLY created by UN vote. The poor Founding Fathers must have been rolling in their graves at the sight of the leaders of our nation groveling before a foreign PM. I feel truly sorry for them.
42. Israel UNILATERALLY CREATED by UN Vote
Katherine ,   Canada   (05.29.11)
Israel itself was UNILATERALLY CREATED by UN vote in 1948. Oh the irony of Israel trying to prevent the same for Palestine.
43. Note the devastating tornadoes that hit the states
Scott ,   Haifa   (05.29.11)
in populated cities - the moment the 67 borders were declared. Bad news for you America, and Israel if we comply to his fantasies. More desolations to come...for those who have ears to hear....
44. Vote Republican
mark ,   los angeles usa   (05.29.11)
I am an American jew, and I am not happy about Obamas stance on Israel. With that being said the Republican canidates who have emerged so far appear to be the same old extremists on the opposite end of the spectrum. No one should put Israel ahead of America . I was born in America and Iam going to die in America. I fully support Israel but I am going to vote for the canidate who best represts the well being of America.
45. Next election
C McCoy ,   Canada   (05.29.11)
Being a Canadian of course, all this is a moot point to me. But clearly, the only way Obama has a chance of winning next time is the Republicans are crazy enough to name Palin as their candidate. She would actually make Obama look good by comparison, if the Republicans name anyone else I see them as winning for sure.
46. #10, 11 and #23
Israeli 2   (05.29.11)
Marcella: I know exactly where you are coming from and share your sentiments 100%. However, Nathanyahu spoke those words because he was convinced that the so called Pals will never agree with even .1% of our PM's terms. Also, I doubt that Livni, Olmert, Barrack, or anyone else in our present knesset would be as great in delivering such an authentic speech as did our good PM. It was calculated and aimed precisely at what our enemies were afraid to hear. Sarah B: As usual, you and Marcella are great and intelligent talkbackers. I love it when you wrote: "You are quite the fool, sir. Best acquire an education before posting here; we'll chew you up and spit you out." He is a fool, but like him there are many who voted and will continue to vote for sonei Yisrael.
47. #8
Jane   (05.29.11)
Elitism is for leftists, Ed. Conservatives are for regular people Arrogance=ignorance, which is the special place where Obama is located. Honestly you seem to have mixed up which party is which.
48. #28
Jane   (05.29.11)
But W took facts on the ground into account and put that in a 2004 letter which Obama/Clinton refuse to acknowledge.
49. #41
Jane   (05.29.11)
Israel is your ONLY true ally in the middle east, not to mention elsewhere. We are the canary in the tunnel. What we have learned through hard experience has been shared with and helps every single American military person on the ground in the region. Israel, by the way, was not created by a UN vote. Israel was created by G-d, you freaking moron.
50. #2 your Obama
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (05.29.11)
I don't know where you get your news, but Obama is the worse possible president for the United States. I doubt you heard of it, but today Obama butchered 12 little Afghan children in a village called Nawzad. He did not take a break, did not call a press conference, nothing, apparently because 12 little dead children don't bother him. And this is in Afghanistan, where no one can explain what US forces are doing. You say you want justice to prevail. What justice will prevail for the 12? Or for the other 6000 (!) civilians Obama has eliminated in Afghanistan?
51. Lets not forget how Israel expelled the Palestinian refugees
sass ,   australia   (05.29.11)
and how it posesses the land in the 1967 war of aggression which was against international law and what the USA stands for . Also its morally wrong. Israel is the only country in the world whose survial depends of driving the indigenous people out.
52. Mark #44: "Extreme" is matter of perspective
Steve   (05.29.11)
If you are a Jew living in California, more than likely you are on the far left. I am a politically conservative (or moderate) Jew. Quite honestly, I haven't a clue who you are referring to when you say the Republican candidates appear to be the "same old extremists." I don't see an extremist in the bunch. Only middle of the roaders, left-leaners like Romney and moderates. Maybe Michelle Bauchman, if she runs, maybe she is a conservative, but certainly no extremist. Thinking Jews understand that an American president who supports Israel - I am not speaking of foreign aid either, but moral support - he or she supports a strong America. Jews who support Israel, her security and her welfare are good Jews and good Americans. There is no contradiction between the two. Only Jews who are so detached from their faith; detached from what it means to be a Jew do not understand this simple truth.
53. Obama shames the entire Democratic party
Steve   (05.29.11)
Just as George W. Bush disgraced and shamed the Republican party, so Obama shames the Democratic party. I voted for Bush in 2000 but could not bring myself to vote for him in 2004 because of his immoral pressure on Israel - his immoral, anti-Israel policies, especially post 9/11. Bush's policies and pressure on Israel were no where near as immoral or severe as Obama's pressure. Nonetheless, in the 2006 mid-term elections, Democrats clobbered Republicans and in 2008 Barack Hussein Obama clobbered John McCain. Obama has disgraced the Democratic party. Only an ill-informed Jew (an ill-informed American for that matter) would vote for a Democrat November 2012.
54. Obama could have chosen a different path - chose not to
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (05.29.11)
We've heard a lot of talk about "soft power" and "smart power" recently. It's a notion promoted by another egghead professor (Joseph Nye) and by Hillary Clinton. Yet where is its application where the Palestinians are concerned? The US could have indicated that they will *oppose* the Palestinian initiative in the UN; instead, they simply say it is unhelpful, or will not accomplish its objective. The US could have balanced its call for 1967 lines with swaps with notice that the US will not support a Palestinian right of return. The US could remind the Palestinians how much aid they get from the US, and that the US will be reviewing that aid if the Palestinians remain obstinate. The US could have threatened to DOWNgrade their recently upgraded diplomatic status in the US. But none of these have been done.
55. Can'at trust Obama
ALfred ,   Narberthj USA   (05.29.11)
It is not a matter of trust of Obama. The issue is whether it is in the interests of the United States to continue massive support for Israel. At some point, the US will say no. It may take years but it will probably evolve. Great nations do not have friends. They have interests. So long as it is in the interest of the US to continue support Israel, it will do so. BUT, the support will most likely end. What Obama is saying may be the beginning of the redefinition of US interests in the MIddle East.
56. #29;Stop believing Arab lies and propaganda
Ari ,   Chicago, US   (05.29.11)
Israel is a country of Law and Order; and have 20% of its population Arabs with freedom and rights rhe PA do not give their own people. There are 11 Arabs in the 120 Parliament of Israel; Arabic is a national Language like Hebrew; many of the Arabs are doctors and lawyers graduating from Jewish Israeli universities; Israelis do not need to rape Palestinians; The opposite is true. Israel built all the university and hospitals and the infrastructure in the West Bank after Jordan controlled the area for 19 years and did nothing for the called Palestinians. . sham on you for believing totalitarian Arab regimes instead of a democracy
57. #45
Jane   (05.29.11)
Our sincere regards and love to your Prime Minister and all Canadians who voted for him. Now THERE is a MAN!
58. #44 "fully supports" Israel & votes to destroy her
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (05.29.11)
A vote for Obama in 2012 is a vote for Israel's destruction - and America's! At present, Obama needs Jewish money to be re-elected, also their votes in 3 key swing states, so he continues to lie to them about his intentions towards Israel. If he gets a 2nd term, he will no longer need the Jews. He will throw them and Israel under the bus. You talk about extremists? In case you didn't notice, this disciple of the Israel-hater Jeremiah Wright is helping the Muslim Brotherhood (founders of Hamas) burn up the entire Middle East, and he started a war in Libya for no good reason. Any Jew who votes for Obama is not going to be able to look himself in the mirror, much less show his face in synagogue. But then, you don't sound like a guy who goes to synagogue - where you pray for the well being of Israel and especially Jerusalem - which Obama wants to divide and give to the Palestinians for their new capital!
59. Ex ellent Analysis- US Congress & US Citizens Love Israel
LJ ,   MD, USA   (05.29.11)
Obama is truely anti-semtic at heart. His word and action are proof enough. Obviously, since the US is broke he must be getting support via Saudi Arabia, UN or both. Hang in there Isreal for God Praise too for your PM we loved his recent speach- how fortunate you are to have such a leader. God Bless
60. JUST HANG ON A MOMENT!!!
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (05.29.11)
Before getting hung up on what Obama said or what he didn't say or what he means, there's a fundamental question to be asked. Who gave Obama or anybody the right to adjudicate the issue? To me this seems like a con-trick,because,no matter how powerful Obama thinks himself to be,he still cannot dictate. Obama has stated his opinion, but it is still just his opinion. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
