1. of course olmert
marcel   (05.30.11)
olmert would sell his mother, anything to sell out israel along with golan, east jeruslame, corridor across israel cutting it in 2 pieces from which pals would launch rockets, and land in israel. Now it comes out that he offered to sell bedouin land claims by giving them land in negev. What the hell is left for israel, the original residents?? Nothing or not much. If there is a definition of treason in real terms, olmert is guilty of it. Forget about corruption. He can go to new york and live with his son who didn't do all of his reserve duty and daughter who protest the idf. What a lousy rotten family!!! Chosen people-really--rewrite all your books.
2. Beduins are Beduins
Keren ,   IL-BR   (05.30.11)
They do not have this concept of owning land, unless Israel creates now a new fantasy called "Beduin Land". Eventually they will apply ,afterwards, for an "authority"in the future and who knows what more. As long as I know,Beduins have all benefits ,They use the social system as they need and please,so what's the point in changing the Status Quo? Let the wander where they have been and period. This is their way. Israel tried before to build them funcional structures ,but they refused. So,if they do not adapt to us ,we must not adapt to them. Haven't we learned already? FORGET ABOUT THIS THING OF DIVIDING NEGEV! Stop creating problems for ourselves!
3. Answer is in the Torah. Grant them long-term leases.
Abe ,   NY, NY   (05.30.11)
God owns Israel and the people Israel rent. Look it up. There's no reason long-term leases couldn't work here, as long as the law applies to all, Sabrah & Stranger/Sojourner.
4. the bedouin don't own the Negev
zionist forever   (05.30.11)
Any legal claims to Negev lands were given by the Turks over 100 years ago. This land today is owned by the State of Israel it is not a province of the Turkish empire. Give them a reasonable large plot of land ( nothing to huge ), built some new villages for them on the plot allocated by the state and tell them straight they have 1-2 years to move out before their village is demolished. If they don't leave when the deadline arrives they will be forcibly removed and the bulldozers will do their job. The Bedouin need to understand that the Negev belongs to the state and if they don't like it then they can pack up their camel and move back to the Arabian Peninsula.
5. And give them social security, free medicine & unemploymnt
Moshe ,   Usa   (05.30.11)
hand outs at the expense of Jewish taxpayers. Oh good grief. NO. Moshe
6. Netanyahu's controversial plan to divide the Negev
Avi ,   NYC, NY   (05.30.11)
Is the current Israeli Gov. out of their minds. At this rate the Arabs don't need to try to destroy Israel, Israel is doing a great job by them selves. Why isn't the Israeli public not protesting and/or demanding that the current gov. be dissolved. How stupid can Israel get.
7. 3 steps back
Rachelr ,   US   (05.30.11)
Why does Bibi take 2 steps forward and 3 back? Why give up land? This is his problem, he's so inconsistent.
8. PLEASE EXPLAIN
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.30.11)
What does that mean exactly? Is it anything like what the USA did for the Native Americans? Where each tribe was given a reservation with some Independence from the USA? For instance the Cherokee Indians have a reservation that has it's own laws and police force, exempt from many USA laws. In fact many have opened Casino's on their land, even though the states they are located in (Georgia &. Tennessee) it's illegal for gambling establishments. Or is this something different? Could somebody explain for me what it means legally, what is BibI offering the Bedouins and why (i.e.why offer it, from a political/historical sense, why now, will they be an independent entity from the Hamas/Fatah unity government and from Israel, Or are they still part of Israel, etc.)? Thanks, in advance..
9. Bogus article to sow fear
Eldar ,   Haifa, Israel   (05.30.11)
This is a terrible piece of Yellow Journalism - Yes, the government set up the Goldberg Commission for this purpose and the commission made its recommendations, and the government should adopt its recommendations. The journalist should have talked to those involved, not some anonymous critic who basically has nothing to say but "Be scared!". Bogus promo article...
10. Um, you mean AMERICAN taxpayers.
Dan ,   Boston   (05.30.11)
11. Netanyahu has lost his mind! He is not a zionist!
Faruq   (05.30.11)
it is utter stupidity! and it makes no sense when it is compared with netanyahu's ridiculous "2 states for 2 peoples" plan if this plan goes through it is time for a vote of no confidence
12. Will the MKs and citizens please wake up?
Marcella   (05.30.11)
Israel needs a PM that actually represents the interests of Jewish Israel.
13. Beduins are Beduins
tom dee ,   savannah ga USA   (05.30.11)
Beduins are Beduins They do not have this concept of owning land,' You are very correct but they have lived in the desert forever while the people trying to tell them how to live have some 60 years and not all that has been very impressive. I think maybe the Beduins are a lot smarter than those who want to bring modern ways to a land without water. One day it will not be possible to just steal the neighbors water.
