35. Nonesense!!!

Israel has the right to respond to this type of provocation. As a matter of fact, being a democracy it is obligated to respond in a way it seems fit. It is time that Turkey stop playing games...
36. #18 ....When the Turks are on the sea...
rob ,   Orangevale USA   (05.30.11)
I used to love Turkey. It stood as a bastion of decency in a sea of stupidity. (unless you are a Kurd) How the Iranian bearded monkey 'turned out' Erdrogan, is very difficult to understand. Did he catch him at a bus stop late at night and offer him candy? # 18 "Turkish boy" when "New Turks" are on the water, jail cells, bullets and missiles are being loaded and readied. There is not going to be 'panic in Israel'. Every Israeli knows that stupid things go on in Turkey now and they will PREPARE. When the Turks see what that really means, They, my friend, not Israel will panic. Provoke a sleeping powerhouse and feel the righteous wrath! Do you REALLY have faith in that miserable holocaust denying 'mullahs boy' ?
37. WHY THE ENDLESS LIES??>???
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.30.11)
First and most importantly, Israel never attacked anybody. They did what the IDF has been doing since the blockade was put in place. They stopped and search all ships that head for Gaza. Remember the first 5 ships went off without a hitch. It wasn't until the terrorists (on the 6th ship) with a premeditated attack, started the fighting...that it was staged is not in doubt...that the confrontation began. Yet here we are with the IHH repeating the same lie. As I've discussed many times the Arabs...like the Nazi's before them...believe if you repeat a lie often enough, people will accept it as the truth. It's why the truth MUST be marketed like any product. In a sense it goes against your common sense and intuition. Where...you would think...the truth will speak for itself. But in the real world that's not the way it works. Even politicians understand this premise. So when losing an election campaign you hear the phrase, that a candidate will go negative. The theory being, some people might believe the lie, secondly, it takes the other candidate off message. Because he has to respond with the truth. If he takes the high ground, and says to himself and his staff, I won't dignify that with response, often the politician gets hurt badly, and in the end has to respond anyway. So Israel will not attack anybody, they didn't attack anybody last time. But the IDF will board any vessel that tries to run the legal blockade. If these people state they intend to run the blockade, then they fall into a legal grey area. Since they become more than passengers or civilians at that point, because their stated goal is a combat mission (to break a legal blockade). At that point can they be considered combatants? Sort of mercenaries? That's the legal grey area. They are clearly more than civilians at that point, but are they full fledged combatants? I would argue that last time, they clearly were combatants. But it bothered me that they tricked at least some of the passengers, who never expected or would have approved, maybe even would have elected NOT to go on that PARTICULAR SHIP, If they knew from beginning the plan to start a fight with the IDF. They were in effect cynically used as human shields... unwilling or unwittingly...but that should surprise nobody. Terrorists have NO regard for innocent human life, in fact they are proud of that perverted and deviant fact.
38. Has Turkey lost it's mind?
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.30.11)
Yes. Why not simply declare war on Israel and act like men instead of vaguely disguised bullsh*t activists? Absolute madness and I hope the ships and passengers are removed, fined, jailed and the ships commandeered for scrap.
39. Didn't the dumb turks say that the last time?
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.30.11)
Why not demand that Erdogen also be a passenger? Let him put his money where his big mouthed, empty brain is. On deck, with those whose lives he could care less about. HArd to know who's dumber, he or the brainless idiots on the ship of fools.

48. SO CANADA ISN'T DEMOCRATIC?
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (05.30.11)
This item links too another: "Canada warns citizens: Avoid Gaza flotilla". Yet the Turkish FM claims "..that democratic governments cannot stop their citizens launching another pro-Palestinian flotilla to Gaza." The Canadian government doesn't presume to tell its citizens not to participate, but it certainly lays down its moral position in clear terms. The gulf between a real democracy like Canada and a failing, pretend one like Turkey is wide, wide, wide. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
49. ISRAEL WON'T REPEAT SAME 'MISTAKE'?

It looks like the IHH is set to repeat its mistake. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
50. Complete and utter madness
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.30.11)
Turkey is underwriting, encouraging and sponsoring an illegal attempt to breach Israel's fully legal and internationally recognized naval blockade of the Gaza Strip. Every single country with ports along the Mediterranean have categorically refused to allow vessels planning to sail in the flotilla access to their ports. The only country which has allowed these vessels to use their ports as an embarkation point is Turkey. I do not quite understand Turkey's open defiance -- I suppose it could be due to the fact that Israel humiliated them in the last ill-fated voyage of the MAVI MARMARA, and they are trying to recover some shred of dignity which is irretrievably lost to them. It could equally be due to the fact that their masters in the Islamic Republic have ordered them to go through with this farce. Either way, Turkey will have serious consequences to face. There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza. There are well-established non-provocative means of sending aid to the Strip. Egypt has opened the Rafah crossing. The vessels slated to participate in the flotilla are, without exception, passenger boats, ferries and pleasure yachts. These are not cargo carrying vessels; they are designed to carry people, not cargo. They have insufficient deadweight, no hold space to speak of and insufficient draught to carry cargo. The purpose of the flotilla, then, can hardly be said to be to bring "humanitarian" aid to Gaza. The only reason behind this flotilla is to openly challenge Israel. That is an extraordinarily stupid thing to do, because Israel has asserted that it will take all necessary steps to preserve the integrity of its fully-legal and internationally recognized blockade of Gaza. Should this flotilla sail, it will be stopped. With deadly force, if necessary. Any and all death, injury and loss of private property that may ensue will be solely and exclusively the responsibility of Turkey. I really do not believe that Turkey has a good grasp on the repercussions.
51. if the ship is not stopped then the the blocakde will
zionist forever   (05.30.11)
If Israel lets this ship dock in Gaza then the idea of continuing the naval blockade will be a joke especially considering Rafah is now open. Something must be done to stop this convoy reaching Gaza. Either board the ship again but make sure the troops have something like tear gas rather than paintball guns so its easier to take the ship without resorting to live ammunition. If possible try and physically stop the ship before it gets to Gaza and tow it in. Next time the government should send commandos to Turkey before it sails to sabotage the ship stop the trip happening..
52. Arab Spring ring a bell?

Demand new elections and vote this horror out of office. He's removed all honor form Turkey and her once admirable government and made it a poor copy of Iran and her insanity.

Panic seems to begin and end with Erdogen who's never on one of the 'ship of fools'. He's back onshore with a couple of hookers and hookas. He's one sick coward.

55. This Flotilla İs a Trap Israel
Cagri ,   Istanbul, Turkey   (05.30.11)
The Elections are getting close for Turkey, AKP will win, however There is a misundertanding about AKP and supporters of Erdogan, You people think everyone who supports Erdogan are Radical Islamists or lets say Jihadists that is not true. Majority of Erdogans supporters are old school Conservative people who voted for other right wing parties like ANAP and DYP before 2000. (David ISrael, i m sure you know these very well) but now they are voting for AKP because They see Erdogan as the only option because the other parties whom they voted for leaded the country to 2001 Economic Crisis. The majority of his supporters are Unradical people, and the more Radically erdogan behaves the more he will lose support. I m sure You see people on Ports of IStanbul Welcoming Mavi Marmara with jihadist green stuff on their heads, know that they are the minority. And they always will be, as long as we secular Turks stand. They are doomed to fail. What Erdogan did? HE convinced people (The majority behind him i mentioned as Unradical Classilcal Conservate people) against Israel. And The last Years Flotilla gave him a great advantage on this. What ı Think is Israel SHOUL HAVE solved the issue any other way. Because that gave erdogan great chance for turning people against israel. Even people like me did not welcome what was done. For example 3-4 years ago I was a great supporter of Israel, i always think israel as being surrounded by Arabs and trying to protect its land against arabs attacking on every directions. I always thought as Israel was the right side. But some comments i do read on this site are really shocking, This Flotilla DOES NOT Represent Turkey, there are MILLIONS of people in Turkey who HATE this Flotilla show, this flotilla thing is a trap, israel. You have to act wisely. As i said before, This flotilla thing is a game of Erdogan, (Turks generally do not trust and like Arabs) And Erdogan tries to change it, he tries to make Turkish People to Grow sympathy on Arabs, and the Stupid Flotillas and the more Stupid way that they are handled, Give Him Great Advantage on This. Israel must handle the next flotilla wisely this time, Can't you see it is a Trap? I read many comments on this page "We ll Bomb it, We ll topredo it.. " That wont be the wise way. Do not give Erdogan what he wants. I wish you all have a good day Cagri
56. #42. It seems like a pissful flotilla to me.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.31.11)
So if what you are saying is true, Turkey is using this flotilla to achieve a domestic political purpose. But Israel will stop the flotilla -- they have already said they would act to keep the fully legal and internationally recognized blockade from being breached. How can Erdogan possibly make political hay out of Israel stopping the flotilla? Isn't it far more likely that Israel stopping the flotilla will lessen Turkish support for Erdogan? Everyone knows that the flotilla has no humanitarian purpose; everyone knows that the passengers on the participating vessels are terrorists and terrorist sympathizers. Erdogan has been bad for Turkey. He has worked actively to alienate Israel, which has cost Turkey dearly in terms of tourism -- Israelis are going elsewhere; Jews are changing their travel plans, too. Arabs and Iranians are not picking up the slack. Israeli sympathizers are changing their travel destinations, too. Turkey's deliberate provocation of Israel is making Turkey's already precarious role in NATO even more shaky. Improved relations between Turkey and Iran is not the way to go, if Turkey wishes to remain in NATO. And if Turkey is expelled from NATO, all those lucrative NATO bases in Turkey will close, and Turkey's already-suffering economy will lose a valuable source of income. I know that Turkey's drydocking business is down about 70% from what it was two years ago; it's cheaper to drydock vessels in Eastern Europe and the Far East. I know that Turkey's largest shipping company -- Marvel -- has gone bankrupt. Nautica and Intertrans are about a month or two away from collapse. So, is this silly episode of backing the flotilla designed to galvanize Turkish opinion at home, and deflect attention away from the really foolish path upon which Erdogan has embarked? Turkey can kiss membership in the European Union goodbye. If they go ahead with pushing the flotilla, they can probably kiss membership in NATO goodbye. Erdogan is extremely bad for Turkey; if the Turkish people vote him back into office, that would be a very foolish mistake.
58. IHH wishes to create a provocation to set the stage
Stephen in New York   (05.31.11)
IHH wishes to create a provocation to set the stage for September at the UN. The Turkish government is a silent partner. Israel cannot allow the precedent to be established whereby Hamas can import Iranian arms from the sea. Not only can one shipment exceed a month’s worth of tunnel smuggling, also, without dismantling them first, large items can be brought in. Of course Israel will intercept. The Turkish government and people would be best served by avoiding a physical confrontation with Israel.

60. Ignorant
Gungor Kaya ,   Charleston SC USA   (05.31.11)
Boarding of any vessel in international waters is illegal. It is an international law. Israel made a mistake of boarding Turkish vessels last year and made a bigger mistake of using live ammunition. There are other ways to secure a blockade and definetly you don't have to board a ship and kill bunch of people, loot the ship and then act like you are the victim. Other question, did United nations approve this blockade? What is the reason for the blockade? If there is security issue find the people who are responsible for it, don't go and punish the whole population because you don't do your job properly. If some people are smuggling weapons then find them and the punish them but if you punish everyone then you are assuming all Palestinians are guilty, including woman and children. Are they really guilty are you just simply lazy to do your job properly of catching the real criminals.
