4. if they place China first
blahy   (06.04.11)
then I wonder why they don't follow China's economic model which has lifted millions of people out of poverty in the space of twenty years
5. Typical communist logic
David M.   (06.04.11)
They didn't put themselves in the first place thinking that it were more likely people would believe their fairy tale if they were slightly more modest. They obviously placed themselves 150 slots too high.

11. All I can see in this photo are a bunch of miseries
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (06.04.11)
...starting with the guy in grey at the front. If this is the North Korean elite, imagine what expressions the Korean 'amcha' (people) are sporting.
12. USA is a miserable place. I believe the survey.
Yaakov Sullivan ,   NYC   (06.04.11)
13. EXCELLENT CREDIBILITY
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.04.11)
You have to admit, it's pretty funny. Like anybody would take this poll seriously. Well I take that back, there are plenty of fools out there, after all there are those who believe that Pals exist, and weren't invented in the 1960's. Even though the Pal leaders admitted this fact. That they were invented as a weapon to use against Israel. You see you can't help the stupidity out there, people who would believe anything that confirms their hate and political agenda. But most people know this doesn't pass the laugh test. Therefore the UN should immediately pass a Resolution endorsing this poll. That's about all the UN is good for, right? Giving false legitimacy to BS. The UN has elevated it to an art form.
14. funny thing i israel did the same poll with same results
abdalla abdalla ,   plantation   (06.04.11)
both idiots
15. #10 - North Korea is just like "Palestine"
William ,   Israel   (06.04.11)
While the leaders live in luxury, threaten the world, and are basically oblivious to reality - they feel no reservations about using their own people as fodder for violence and ignoring their welfare. Like the "Palestinians", North Korea does little to help their own people while demanding the world provide them aid even under threats. One thing "Palestinians" have that North Koreans don't - food and an opportunity to make their lives better. But don't let all those facts fool you - starving and abused but dignified is the way to go. Good luck with that.
16. #14 - Israel never performed a poll like this
William ,   Israel   (06.04.11)
That was performed by Gallup polling. North Korea did their own polling. You're such a racist moron.
17. #12 - no, NYC is a miserable place
William ,   Israel   (06.04.11)
Elsewhere, people are living their lives and not spending it complaining like you padded liberals in NYC. There is a bumper sticker that speaks so well to this - "Annoy a liberal - succeed in life". I can see you're a "glass is half-empty and Bush is a Nazi"-type of guy.
18. re: italian's corriere della sera's survey
joel ,   usa   (06.04.11)
yeah, this italian news media got paid and scared to tell the "truth", since everyday many are dying in the streets in N Korea of hunger and they are happy, also in communist China you are abuse daily by those party members and they felt happy, too? courriere della sera must bring the italains to work in communist China to prove its folly?
19. Wow 2
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (06.06.11)
Kim is holding the solution of starvation in the photo.Right colour too.
20. Don't Worry Be Happy!
Richard ,   Toronto Canada   (06.08.11)
I've heard a multitude of jokes over this survey... "They were ordered to be happy", "They gave 100 starving people food and then asked them if they were happy","it's a survey of government officials"... etc What is as plain as the nose on my face is the fact that the top four countries are VERY close allies. This list basically is a list of countries that North Korea considers friends, in order of importance. Of course China is number one, there would be no North Korea without them. Iran? How many times have you heard stories of nuke trading between Iran and the DPRK? Seems like it's almost monthly. And of course Cuba, who have been fiercely building alliances lately, especially with the "happy" countries. I live, off and on, in China, and actually, their own news service ran a happiness pole that was published in April of this year. The People's Daily China published that only 6% of people felt they were happy, although, in that defence, 36 percent said their lives had improved over the last 5 years. Still a far cry from North Korea's 100. The scary part is, quite a few people in the DPRK will believe this. This propaganda is fed to them from birth. Seeing news like this really does make me happy... happy I don't live there.
