1. More 'moral equivilancy'
Steve ,   USA   (06.05.11)
from the State Dept. It sure gets old doesn't it? You have a crazed suicidal Syrian mob sent by that nice guy Assad to the border to get shot at by the Israelis (that is the plan) and you have the State Department giving us the old...'both sides' crap. What should Israel do instead of protecting it's borders since that is apparently 'not allowed'. Should Israel just surrender the State and be done with it? I'm sure the majority of the UN members and many in the US State Department would love that. How about electrifying the fence? They do this for horses over here, why not for Palestinian and Syrian crazed mobs.
2. "US DEEPLY TROUBLED '

LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (06.05.11)
Concern you in any way .You are not here .
5. ...and in turn, I am deeply troubled
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (06.05.11)
that the United States is deeply troubled by the trouble on the Israel-syria border. Furthermore, I am deeply troubled that there is NO activity of a national protective nature of the integrity of the United States by the United States of the United states-Mexican border, and I am going to notify my representative of my troubled persona, and have her force the United States Department of Homeland Security to defend the United States against ALL threats domestic and foreign, as the Constitution of the United States call for and mandates. WAIT! My representative is Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. The Robert Wexler du jour, J-streetwalker, and idiot par excellence as well as a ZerObama tuchis kisser, Anthony Weiner defender and general submoronic fool. And about the horrible human rights violations by the Cardassians purpatrated against the Bajorians,... well,......
6. PLENTY OF RESTRAINT FROM ISRAEL,,,
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (06.05.11)
....but not much from Arabs. The Arabs didn't have to attempt an invasion, but they did and actions have consequences. There really was nothing but their own restraint that prevented the IDF from setting up a line of heavy machine guns and mowing down the invaders. That has been known in the past, elsewhere. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
7. On behalf of the US, I apologize for the state department,
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.05.11)
they had a medical quack come in and stick an IV into the ears of all of the spokesmen and wouldn't you know it, they all got a brain enema before they knew what was happening.
8. TO THOSE WHO ARE "TROUBLED"
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (06.05.11)
By Israel defending itself . GFY.
9. Deeply troubled???
Joe black ,   Atlanta   (06.05.11)
Blood thirsty moslem hordes are killed illegally and provocatively trying to overrun a sovereign country's border, after being warned not to, and their deaths are troubling? Not to anyone but a fellow moslem.
10. #5 Gideon Reader
Zev E   (06.05.11)
I never laughed as much as I did reading your post. Live long and prosper
11. THEY GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.05.11)
I hope the USA administration will not fall for the staged confrontation (although it seems they did). The "deeply troubled" statement that calls for "both" sides to show restraint, is a stupid remark by our administration. Again with the moral equivalency (where NONE Exists) bet6ween Syria and Israel? Are you guys nuts. Just because you want appear as a fair broker you make dumb remarks? The same BS landed Mubarak in prison and waiting for a hangman's noose. Syria planned and staged this BS as a diversion, that is what the USA should have said. They should have condemned Syria for staging a fabricated PR event to distract attention from their heinous crimes at home. Then said it didn't work and if the USA borders were attacked the same way, we would respond as Israel did. That Israel did nothing wrong but simply defended their borders. But avoiding that, the USA appears weak, again. It's embarrassing to see the President of the USA and his administration, played like a violin by known liars. Since the press reports came from Syria, they don't pass the laugh test, when it comes to reliability. I expect these kinds of remarks from the Arab league, not the President of his staff.
12. If The Syrians Sit There, There's No Problem
emanon ,   USA   (06.05.11)
If the Syrians try to cross the border, that's a violation of Israel's national borders and defensible under international law. If they sit there and throw stones or otherwise attacks Israelis within their own borders, same story: Israel has the right to defend itself from attack across its borders,
13. HYPOCRISY
JB ,   Rehovot Israel   (06.05.11)
The U.S. being "deeply troubled" by our handling of an assault on our borders is like your father telling you never to drink or smoke as he puffs away on a cigar and downs a beer. For one, I am deeply troubled by illegal U.S. military action in Libya, Pakistan, and who knows how many other places. Yemen? Oh,I get it. The U.S. doesn't respect borders, so the Syrians don't have to..
14. You are right, Chris.
CC   (06.05.11)
15. Deeply troubled?
Rachel ,   US   (06.06.11)
Is State deeply troubled that Assad paid protesters to cross the border?
16. US 'deeply troubled' at killings on Israel-Syria border
dobre max ,   romania   (06.06.11)
don't worry us,Israel is behind you !
17. The Obama-led United States is simply disgusting
CC   (06.06.11)
Apropos "disgusting" this is a term the White House uses too much wrt Israel. (Thomas Friedman usually cites this.)
18. I'm Pissed: Where were the Israeli punli. In Jrslem
EZ ,   USA   (06.06.11)
Why haven't the Israelis mounted huge counter protests in Jerusalem!? What are we sitting on our butts for!? What a disgrace! Time is not on our side on too many fronts. If the Israelis themselves do a full week of massive protests against the disgraceful, illegal and murderous actions AGAINST THE ARABS, the world would have no choice but to back the hell off! This has gotten out of hand and the Israelis are doing NOTHING!!! It doesn't matter which walk of life you come from (excluding the leftist-terrorists) or how old you are: we need to start massive protests all across the nation against the Arab mentality of hatred and propaganda! STAND UP ISRAELIS!!!!! The time is NOW!!!!
19. Kind of puts paid to US statements
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.06.11)
Especially those that claim to support our right to secure borders. With the US State Department 'support' we would all be dead by the first of the year. To the US State Department - Fuck off and mind your own damn business.
20. US deeply troubled
Gabriel ,   Edinburgh UK   (06.06.11)
I am deeply troubled as to how these so called demonstrators reached the border fence, as it is supposed to be heavily mined. This is worrying regarding the security of Israel.
21. obama and clinton
alexi   (06.06.11)
clinton is a tired old rag resting on her husband's laurels with no accomplishments of her own in law, or politics. Witness russia and turkey who tell her to drop dead without reply. Her handling of assad is pathetic with no leverage whatsoever. so now she asks israel to exercise restraints. What are we shmucks?? you cross my border after a warning, then you get shot. Otherwise there is no soveriegnty period. Tell 100 million mexicans to cross texas. What an ass! Now obama is action oriented and no dodo except for buying khalidi's narrative of lies. and withhis moslem background he is partial to the arabs period without reason. Israel will have to go it alone and rahm emanual 's assurances are worthless. Obama has done some good things. if you want to start over, then go back to the origins of israel and the jordan part of balfour and start from there. Otherwise forget it.!
22. US is disturbed?
A ,   Belgium   (06.06.11)
I, as an American who does not live in Amerika, am deeply disturbed that Amerika is involved in 3 wars at the moment for NOTHING, that young American boys are returning broken physically and mentally to their homes with basically NO chance at decent employment or a decent future, that roads, bridges and other infrastructure that are desperatley in need of repair are NOT being repaired for lack of funds (3 wars are higher priority) while the skilled tradesmen that are capable of doing the work sit idle and unemployed, and Amerika can only critisize Israel when she is under threat ... I AM DISTURBED THAT I VOTED FOR BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA and I apologize for my mistake.
23. Proportionality and deeply trouble
Jack ,   London   (06.06.11)
How deeply troubled are you America?are we talking your deeply troubled in Syris where they are crushing demos with tanks,or is it the deeply troubled of darfur? We demand proportionality
24. and I am deeply concerned that
macktheknife   (06.06.11)
a couple of idiots, one such as a hilary clinton and the other a so-called president of the united states and into the bargain a muslim. I am deeply troubled about that pair dragging the usa every day further into the gutter. Out with both of them. and obama, don't forget to take your baggage with you.
25. Protest all you like, just stay on Syria side of the border.
shut up hillary ,   usa   (06.06.11)
26. stolen borders
sunqi ,   china hong kong   (06.06.11)
normaly and especialy under the international law if a country's borders have been violated by peacfull demonstrators this particular country has a lot of choices other then shooting live bullets killing and injuring 100;s ....one of these choices is to arrest these illegal visitors and have them trialed and punished ....an 8 years old kid would find the right answer .....but if a bunch of thiefs robed a land sloter its ppl and criminaly murders hundres every day surly is afraid of not only peacfull protesters but from miners holding a rock in there hands ....shame on the 21 century
27. Clinton and Obama
GiGi McLean ,   Cairns Australia   (06.06.11)
Deeply troubled my foot, they have created this entire mess in the Middle East and it is only going to get worse. What they are doing in Libya is a terrorist attack at it's very best. It may sound stupid bu Gaddafi and Israel should bury the hatchet and become allies as it is the only way your countries will survive because Clinton and Obama are hell bent on destroying both of you
28. She Can't Sleep
gigiMcLean ,   Australia   (06.06.11)
My foot, she seems to rest quite well and IS not the least little bit concerned about the murder and destruction she is condoning in Libya nor about the thousands of demonstrators being killed in Syria day after day. Yet she has the gall to make this statement, she is a mad cow who's use by date has long expried
29. How about electrifying the fence? They do this for horses ov
Rachel ,   USA   (06.06.11)
excellent idea, Or mine field the borders with a big sign: STAY AWAY - DANGER ZONE in Arabic language
30. What is truly troubling!
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.06.11)
I am truly troubled that the US is now a "deeply troubled" country led by a "deeply troubled" president who is taking this once powerful country deeper into trouble. This president embraces the deeply troubling ideologies of his crank pastor Jeremiah and his equally crank '70's revolutionary comrades Ayres and Dohrn who rank high among the "deeply troubled" clique that helped to shape and mould his mind. Today, we see the result. He is "deeply troubled" that the "rent-a-mob" crowd suffered some casualties as a result of their deliberate and extreme provocation. That really troubles me because it indicates to me that there is monster in the White House that cannot be reasoned with.
