31. SUPERB IDEA! KEEP THE BARBARIANS OUT!
EZAL ,   USA   (06.07.11)
And for those who say: "we'll be isolated!". The answer to that is: "UH, THANK G-D!! Who wants Syrians, Pals or Lebanese for friends!? Haven't they like....KILLED enough Jews!? Also: a fence DOES NOT LIMIT OUR MILITARY FLEXIBILITY NOR AFFECT WHAT WE CAN SEE: ever hear of a tower? And our satellites do a perfect job not to mention our mini drones the size of birds that hover all over Syrian/Lebanese territory all day long. PUT THE WALL UP NOW: KEEP THE SAVAGES OUT!!! LESS WORRIES, MORE FREEDOMS-NOOOO PROBLEM!!!
32. Response to joe
David S ,   United States   (06.07.11)
Joe, the key here is a statement that is crystal clear and ALWAYS implemented. If you give vague guidelines on what you will do, it encourages people to take chances. I absolutely agree...if people know they are facing certain death they will think twice about facing it. Unfortunately, in the Arab world that means they will push their children forward.
33. #17 Mr.Brian
david cohen ,   china   (06.07.11)
nicely said but i dont see the details of your cheaper measure that will do better job. nice to criticize. a bit harder to come up solutions. isnt it??
34. No, Israel needs to threaten the Syrian regime.
Zvi   (06.07.11)
35. End game
John Prophet ,   of Light   (06.07.11)
Assad will attempt to take Israel with him as he goes down.
36. To # 11 Just tip the ladders over or...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.07.11)
pull the ladders over the wall. A wall is always harder to breach than a stupid little fence.
37. Border drones, that's what we need.
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.07.11)

38. Time for a security wall on the Syrian border
Jeff ,   USA   (06.07.11)
Need bricks? Tear down al-Aqsa once and for all,you have bigger and better things for that site.
39. YES #22, lots and lots and lots of razor wire, they stop.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.07.11)
40. GREAT IDEA - for contractors, politicians, and us Jews
Moshe Neeman ,   USA   (06.07.11)
This will enrich the contractors who will, in turn, pad the pockets the politicians who decided on the 'project.' Money will go around and come around. BUT, it will be also good for all Jews who, somehow, feel uncomfortable outside the ghetto. Nothing like a high wall to bring peace of mind to Israel: Will keep US in, the the real world OUT.
41. #2 GOOD IDEA
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.07.11)
Observation Towers can be included in the walls construction Mine field placed adjacent to the wall, should deter attempts to circumvent the wall The one advantage Israel would have is that we can see what's going on on the other side, making them blind to what's happening on our side of the wall
42. #6 IRAN #10
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.07.11)
Of course in your lovely Iran, everyone can come and go as they like Seems to me that I recall the shooting of your people in the street by others of your people
43. #10 Yoni
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.07.11)
Think about the "GREAT WALL OF CHINA", it helped to deter the Mongol invasion and it still stands today While you're at it, think of the Miklat in your house, get the idea
44. Israel needs a...
Persian CAT   (06.07.11)
basement.
45. Idiotic idea! The Syrian border has been quiet for 43 years
Mike ,   Oxford UK   (06.07.11)
Asad sent bus load after bus load of loyal supporters into the closed syrian military zone adjacent to the border to try and take international and local pressure off his massacres of syrian civilians. Israel should not allow Asad to get away with this lame smoke/mirror trick. Everyone can see through it
46. blah blah blah
Salma ,   Palestine   (06.07.11)
Yosef Argaman, have you ever heard of the Strategic Missile Force ?
47. Is there a concrete-contractor in Josef Argaman's family?
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.07.11)
48. #8 #28 Both wrong
Maurice ,   Montreal   (06.07.11)
The idea that Israel is building a jail onto herelf or that it is isolating herself is nonesense and stupid. Israel has access to the civilized world by air and by sea. It has always been the case. These walls change nothing. As if Israelis can travel into Syria now? You guys are so hate filled for Israel that your logic gets attained!
49. Did you just call the socalled 'fence' a wall...funny!
Edward ,   Washington DC   (06.07.11)
'We need a contiguous, high and deterring cement WALL like the security FENCE in Judea and Samaria' huh?! Freudian slip?
50. Take some Land
Adam ,   USA   (06.07.11)
Arab invaders should pay. Why not make them pay with something they value - land?
51. No to any walls
Gregg ,   Haifa, IL   (06.07.11)
No to walls, borders and any other delimitation. Israel must make peace with its neighbors and fast. Walls will take pieces of lands that don't belong to Israel (like in the WB) Israel builds walls like dictators did and do.
52. #35 exactly right
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.07.11)
When Assad feels that he is about to lose, he will send more of his soldiers dressed as civilians to storm the Golan, but this time snipers will shoot our soldiers. He will hope for an escalation so he can launch a rocket attack (including Scuds with chemical warheads) at Israel. While Obama, Cameron and the UN condemn Israel for being attacked, Assad will be able to "handle" his riots without kid gloves.
53. The Iron Curtain was very efficient.
Gabe Yakmore ,   Canada   (06.07.11)
54. In Addition to Mines
John DeLancy ,   Alaska   (06.07.11)
As has been mentioned, mine your borders, and string barbed wire. This should already have been done, but perhaps the mines and/or fences need to be repaired or bolstered. But in addition, electrify the wire fencing. Put up signs that say something like No Trespassing - Danger - Fence Electrified With automatic response systems like mines and electric fences, you won't need physically to confront the people trying to invade your country.
55. Walls create at least three new entities ...
Bruno ,   Haifa   (06.07.11)
"our" side, "their" side and the wall itself. By walling ourselves in, we are creating an inverse Gaza strip: we are seemingly safe inside, but will be afraid to venture out, while in Gaza, the inhabitants are not safe inside, and cannot venture out. What more could the Arab states want than for us to wall ourselves in. And to think we are doing this with our own hands...
56. #46 Salma, blah blahing again
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.07.11)
I've heard of the "Strategic Missile Force", it has nothing to do with a fence It's all about ICBM's, I hadn't realized that a fence was built out of rockets Concentrate on MINE FIELDS, that would be pertinent
57. #53
Bertram ,   London, UK   (06.07.11)
Yes, indeed, and good to see that the Berlin Wall is still standing.
58. Just fences surrounded by minefileds is enough
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (06.07.11)
59. Israel has the right to build a wall
Leon ,   Ottawa, Canada   (06.08.11)
Israel can build a wall as high as it wants, but build it on Israeli territory and not on someone elses land. The current Golan border is not the Israeli border. Despite Israeli hasbara, the world does not recognize Israel's illegal seizure of the West Bank, Golan Heights, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. Gaza is still occupied (air space, coastline, etc.)
60. Two Words: Mote + Crocodiles
David ,   Boulder, CO USA   (06.08.11)
