1. This man failed miserably in 1973
Frank ,   Canada   (06.09.11)
He was unable to manage Soviet deceptions.
2. RIGHT AND WRONG
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.09.11)
Actually, I like his idea. I not familiar with how the borders are protected but it does seem that if the barb wire was a 100 feet wide nobody would be walking through. Maybe even 150 feet wide. It's a good idea. Where we disagree, is since that wasn't the case, what else could have been done? Plus he ignored the fact that the protesters were armed, they threw firebombs, which set off the landmines. That is what killed and injured most of the protesters, NOT IDF gunfire. Now I believe, that it was unintended by the protesters. in a sense, it was a work accident. But it's typical of the Arabs to kill themselves unintentionally. Then of course blame Israel. If Israel had treated the injured we would know for sure. Whether it was shrapnel or bullets removed from the wounds. He should have brought up the issue of "human shields", this was case of Syrian leadership cynically using civilians, to distract the world press reports from their crimes. Again, using civilians as PR tools. But again, I must point out this guy inadvertently, unintentionally is...by his statements...giving credence to the story that Israel is at fault. Israel never presents a unified front by coordinating their public statements. It's one of the prices you pay for freedom of the press. While the Arabs who control all media flow in their domain know how to present the lie, the staged event, the fabricated story. That's why Pallywood has been so successful.
3. you only worry about your soldiers
to mr. selfish ,   ISRAEL   (06.09.11)
and not the other residents living here. eruv rav - that's what you are!
4. Regarding barbed wire fence.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (06.09.11)
He is right. It would have avoided the extreme measures Israel had to take. Prevention is the key. With preventive and thoughtful measures,we avoid the damages caused by absurd impulsivity . It is obvious, and it is amazing that the current leadership does not act so. We are not children. Please! Jewish leadership has missed to practice the elementar prophylactic measure brought by meditation. They should go to the shul, to morning prayers ,before engaging in their politics. I am VERY serious!
5. and when they start cutting through the barbed wire?
Danny   (06.09.11)
6. ''Purity of Arms'' is nonsense.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.09.11)
This is such arrogant Leftist crap it's hard to believe anyone could espouse this seriously. It's like our ludicrous rules of engagement which endanger the lives of our own soldiers. Only fools think you can sanitize war. War is Hell, that' s the famous quote And, war is supposed to be hell. The object of war is to win. It is to kill your opponants & cause them the maximum amount of damage, to crush them into the dust, to make them lose all hope of victory. It is immoral to prolong conflicts endlessly by preventing victory. It is immoral to let situations develop in which many more people die. Liberals are people who, to avoid killing a few today, create conditions in which thousands die tomorrow.
7. handling of Syrian protestors
Larry Butler ,   kibbutz Israel   (06.09.11)
The handling of Syrian protestors could have been better, if we would have opened the gates and bused the protesters around the country giving them each 500 shekels to shop with and sent them home happy with presents and a different image of the little satan( Israel) we might have made some new friends,

No physical barrier will work if not backed up by gunfire. What would Zamir say the IDF do if the uniform-less Syrian soldiers started clipping through the barbed wire or drove a civilian tractor through? There would have been no choice but to shoot, so why waste the effort on placing the barbed wire? As for the dead and wounded Syrian soldiers. Throwing a firebomb at a mine field and staying nearby? I think it was a competition for the Darwin Awards.
9. # 6
Hertzel ,   Tveria Israel   (06.09.11)
THANK YOU ! I COULDN'T HAVE AGREED WITH YOU MORE.
10. This guy get out to easy after terrible mistake in 1973
Moshe ,   Netanya   (06.09.11)
What happens to "made mistake and 1000s are dead -- kill himself". In the early 70s Labor minister jumped from the window and kill himself. After Gaza, nobody kill himseld. Why?
11. Barbed wire and mines.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (06.09.11)
With barbed wire and mines,I doubt very much these mads could approuch Israel without losing their legs before.
12. I agree about "Purity of Arms"
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (06.09.11)
Settlers riot more violently against the IDF but no one get killed. It goes to show, if the IDF wanted, they could have capture the unarmed demonstrators who breached the border without having to kill anyone, but they chose not to...
13. Zamir.
birdi ,   israel   (06.09.11)
No matter what Israel does & how the IDF conducts itself, Israel will always be balmed. Democracy or not, Zamir should attend to weeding his yard. His meesly leftist opnions are futile. Israel has every right to defend her borders in any way she chooses. PS. Terry's post here is 100% spot on.
14. Soldiers
michaelpielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (06.09.11)
Any soldiers never die, they should slowly fade away. Douglas McArthur
15. Bad farce...
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (06.09.11)
When your 'army' no longer is concerned with defence of the country but is rather an occupation police force, speaking of 'purity of arms' is a bad joke. Although many Israelis will chortle with glee that the army killed the unarmed and defenceless. Pathetic.
16. To MikeSailor
Oren   (06.09.11)
I love people who make comments who from their comments obviously have no idea what they are talking about and just feel the need to plug in their ignorant comments... learn some history about Israel and the ME and some unbiased current events then make some comments...dousch....
17. I also love
Oren   (06.09.11)
all the people who talk some much negativity about Israel and her actions etc.. yet they are constant readers of her news sources... why dont u check out some arab countrys news sources....maybe cause you know you get it straight here...such hypocrits
18. The Mossad is a nest of insane pacifist leftist people
(06.09.11)
19. Purity of arms means let the israeli soldiers get killed
ShameOnU   (06.09.11)
shame on u ex-mossad crazy guys
20. Todah Rabbah, Saba
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (06.09.11)
Now go sit in the sun and rest your weary bones. When you were in charge and the socialists were the ruling party of israel; were the defacto leaders and decision makers, you had the chance to rid Israel of it's cancer and move the presently dagger pointed at the nation's heart by pushing them across the boundry lines of a war won. Winners get to call the shots. Boundries that could have been fixed in favor of Israel. You of the left chose not to act like winners. Thousands of lives could have been saved. Thousands of Injuries prevented and billions and billions of shekel saved. So now do not come and blather about the "purity of arms", Rabin/Peres/Hora around the campfires nonsense. You need to rest quietly and let those cleaning out the litter box do their job. The job that you did not complete. Or cocmplete satisfactorily. By your failure to secure the peace you have continued a long war.
21. Victory for Israel. Not lunatic "purity of arms".
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.09.11)
The last thing the WW II Allies worried about when they were bombing German and Japanese cities into oblivion was "purity of arms". They were rightly focussed on victory. The Allies' resounding victory saved the world as we know it. "Purity of arms" is a lunatic concept that deserves no consideration whatsoever. It is defeatism in the false clothing of morality. We want and need total VICTORY for Israel. Not luatic "purity of arms".
22. There's an ethical human influencing Israeli politics?
Robert Benson ,   Eureka, USA   (06.09.11)
I almost don't believe it, how could a credible ex-Mossad Chief criticize Israel's brutal policy of terrorizing the Palestinians? I expect, he will be stoned with ridicule and eventually recant on his position; or, perhaps, there is a new dawn in Israel in which the People demand ethical government. Wouldn't that be nice?
23. # 5; when they start cutting through the barbed wire
Ronald   (06.09.11)
You just kill them. Zvi Zamir is a jerk. As you say Mark from Georgia; It's the price you pay for freedom of the press. And to you Keren, you're a bum. We will make sure that our soldiers go to shul before combat, while the enemy is blasting away --- we will ask Them to hold back fire until we finish, then 'brakefast '......! Keren, why don't you go and wash the dishes or iron your man's talit; just make yourself usefull. The purpose of war is to kill, and to make sure you are the winner. the alternative? slavery as arabs. Mr Zamir, the purity of brains "tzehel " eroded while you were at the helm.
