61. Response to #4
nadya ,   CA., US   (06.17.11)
Stan, many Americans are not hostile to Bibi because of his race/religion. It's his arrogance and his lack of initiative regarding Palestinian negotiations. Do you see our President behaving the way Bibi did in ANY other country? Absolutely not, it's called basic respect and manners towards a head of state.
62. Response to #8
nadya ,   CA., US   (06.17.11)
Are you kidding?? Both Houses are afraid that AIPAC won't be funding their upcoming party"s elections. But remember most of their constituents are not Jewish and they'll be hearing from them with regards to Bibi's arrogance and disrespect.
63. #44. Israel will triumph over fictional Palestine.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.17.11)
#44. Like many defeatist leftists, you try to scare Israel about a "big shock" in September. What will happen in September? We will see another fictional declaration of Palestine statehood, just like in 1988. However, it will be an even bigger fiasco than 1988. It will be the final Palestine statehood fiasco. After it blows sky high, nobody will ever take Palestine seriously again. Israel is not afraid of leftist bogeymen. We have overcome far more serious challenges before and we will certainly triumph over fictional Palestine.
64. #56. I totally disagree with you.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.17.11)
Netanyahu had not "publicly pissed all over the President". He was most polite and dignified in making the position of Israel known. It was Obama who declared about frank and honest discussion. Was that a lie on Obama's part? Did he really only want Netanyahu to lie and grovel and agree with him in front the cameras? If Obama had any class, he would have made his statement about Israel after he had spoken with Netanyahu. His was the host country. But he wanted to shaft Bibi and Israel. Why did he make the speech while Bibi was on the way? Did that help the situation in any way? Was it so absolutely necessary for him to preempt Netanyahu? The only thing in that speech anybody remembers now is how he threw Israel under the bus. How is that for his foreign policy in the ME? Where else in the ME besides Israel does anybody remember? Netanyahu's "behavior" was impeccable. What was galling to Washington and whoever else, was the reception of what Bibi said. He said things that people agreed with. That is the problem, not his "behavior". His was the voice of Israel speaking to the American people. He was not looking for any favours. He said what needed to be said.
65. #45, I fully agree; #55 Gee, you are terribly wrong.
Michael ,   California, USA   (06.17.11)
Mark is from San Francisco and like me can see the writing on the wall: Israel is marching toward a disaster under the current policy of right wing Netanyahu. We both want to help Israel, are writing to explain why it is imperative to change the current policies. Herzog is telling the truth about Netanyahu's failures, the recent reality of it, so please read and re-read what he wrote, until you can comprehend it in full. On the other hand, Gee is as wrong as one can be. Your hatred of Obama, Gee, is without justification. Really, I would give you lots of credit if you only mentioned that Obama did not reduce financial support of Israel nor military support. Have no doubt, despite your bashing, the "Jewish vote" (if it is definable) will go to Obama and the Democrats in 2012. How to interpret that Mark sees it correctly from afar while Gee is blind from nearby? It's mind boggling, unless I assume Gee that you are not really living the Israeli reality.
66. Obama will be gone
David M.   (06.17.11)
We support Israel and Bibi's policies. Let's hope Obama will be the thing of the past in 2012. Our history is much longer from an US administration. Let 's be calm and persistent and we will overcome.
67. Deep hostility to Israel in Obama Admin
Jewish Democrat ,   New York   (06.17.11)
Herzog should take his dance and pony to the US voters who don't need much to confirm their suspicions about Jeremy Wright and his Disciple in Chief. The real question is what is Herzog's role in stirring up the hatred to Israel? Did he go to the US to learn the principle "rule or ruin"?
68. Herzog: A contemptible little man, a
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.17.11)
shill for appeasers, no guts.
69. MK Herzog: Deep hostility to Bibi in US
samara gordon ,   EILAT, ISRAEL   (06.17.11)
This is ridiculous! The only insulting that was done was by Obama to Israel. Our Prime minister went to Washington to put the record straight and Mr Herzog should pack his bags and move to the USA.... instead of crittisizing the PM, he should be defending him! Our country is at stake here and political correctness to a President who doesn't give a damn about our country, is not an option! Bibi was not rude, offensive or defamatory all he did was protect our Nation and its people by telling the world what out take on things are.
70. #65. Change the current policy to what? Spell it out for us.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.17.11)
Do you mean like agree to the '67 borders with a couple land swaps here and there?
71. #76. Everytime Washington wants to undermine Bibi
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.17.11)
some proxy goes up there, maybe to collect the blueprint of the plan of action. Last year it was Livni and she was energized like a tiger. Even Barak went but like he was a little slippery. This time around, it is Herzog's turn, whoever he is.
72. what are you talking about?
noa ,   israel   (06.17.11)
Netanyhou found a wonderful way to avoid making peace, by looking as if he really wants it. All past agreements that succeeded or didn't succeed use the term "67" lines just as a start-off point. I do admit, we should never give up the Golan, just out of pure love for the Golan. Syria plainly does not deserve it.
73. What???
Fay Kay ,   UK   (06.17.11)
There seems to be no end of vipers with a voice in Israel. Bibi behaved like a proper Statesman. Strong and protective and RIGHT about Israel. The reception Bibi got , in USA, says it all. Standing ovations in abundance. Obama and his mealy mouthed lefties are horribly embarrassed. The majority of Americans LOATHE them and stand firmly with Israel. The bloody media create a false impression and are complicit in weakening Israel's resolve and right to her Holy Land. God Bless Israel. In Jesus' Name.
74. #44 Incorrect. US support for Israel is very high.
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (06.17.11)
I guess you did not read the Gallup Poll, February 28, 2011 "Americans Maintain Broad Support for Israel" that reported "U.S. adults nearly four times as likely to side with Israelis as with Palestinians." The many standing ovations given to Netanyahu during his recent speech to Congress was a reflection of the esteem that Americans have for Israel and for Bibi.
75. herzog is another good reason why the
jason white ,   afula, israel   (06.17.11)
spawn of politicians and political appointees should not be allowed to participate in politics for three generations afterwards. They should not be allowed into any politics at any level, except for voting. If a position requires a vote, then they are excluded from participating. Had we had a law like this years ago, we never would have seen a burg. a porush or a herzog in our life times in the knesset. We do not need dynasties and a two term limit is enough.
76. Herzog's anonymity in U.S./Jealousy
HerzogWho?? ,   china and israel   (06.17.11)
and by the way how did the Herzog scandal in Switzerland totally dissapear from the media??????????????????hmmm !
77. Deep hostility to BB in US
nechama ,   Jerusalem   (06.17.11)
I just came back from Florida and was overwhelmed by the incredible respect and support BB got from the public - He showed some backbone which the world needs to see...
78. The Congress rose to their feet on behalf of the people
Mea   (06.17.11)
American are represented more closely by their congressman and so therefore the standing ovations at the speech are far more telling than any annoyed administration reps who want to grumble. Mr. Obam has been caught with his hands down and totally failed to grasp America's love for Israel. What proves Obama's distaste for Israel is the fact that as soon as he had some clout after killing Osama he rushed to bully Israel while he could get away with it, and Bibi very wisely laid down the law and then sealed it with the speech. Obama got what he deserved for failing American interest in supporting Israel. Obama desires more than anything to be the president who was at the helm of Palestine becoming a nation. But more than that he wants to become a hero in the metro multi cultural anti-Israel university teaching stratosphere he came from.
79. Buji is a looser
Dan David ,   NY   (06.17.11)
Bujie Herzog is frastrated because he is a looser. Like all politicians who want to grab a headline in the media he puffs odd statements -the media buys crazy slogans with hunger. Bibi is the most popular leader in America.
80. Polls can be misleading Sue # 74
Jon ,   Baltimore US   (06.17.11)
if 5 % of respondents said they supported the Palestinians, 20 % said they supported Israel and 75 % said they supported neither of these entities and thinks we should leave them both to rot in the hell they have created; that nicely phrased poll result would still be valid.
81. @#1..6 A foreigner in American Policy?
Lenya ,   Australia   (06.17.11)
What American policy? Deciding the fate of Israels future security? Stevie...Didn't you know Bibi was invited by the congress to speak? He was no stranger he was a guest who was received by America's elite with standing ovations. I don't think half of America is still on Obama's side after his speech.
82. Isaac Herzog
jsrRoger ,   USA   (06.17.11)
The U.S. is behind PM Netanyahu in spite of a few Democratic opinions. A majority of Congress supports Netanyahu and a majority of the American people support Netanyahu. This statement issued by Isaac is nothing but campaign rhetoric and throwing Obama a "kiss"
83. Netanyahu - Obama
jsrRoger ,   USA   (06.17.11)
I'm proud of the honesty displayed by Netanyahu...and our Congress. "Gain", symbolic or otherwise should be the result of truth...without fear of the cost. And as far as a "foreigner getting involved in American politics..." being a loose-loose proposition - I think it's the other way around. It's Israel that is our focus and the result of these policies could mean her survival, or destruction. Allies "get involved" in each other's defense. Bibi's diplomacy will always be what he believes is in Israel's best interest, not from a point of weakness...but from strength - and without "kisses" for Obama.
84. The anti-Israeli Democrats
jsrRoger ,   USA   (06.17.11)
As an American I was fuming when I read the account of Herzog's remarks. I place equal blame on Democrats and Herzog in his attempt to throw mud on Bibi. But there are many Americans, some Democrats, who are not Jews but support Israel and Netanyahu 100%. We totally support his strong convictions and honorable defense of Israel. He is well loved in the U.S.
85. Leftist Insanity
jsrRoger ,   USA   (06.17.11)
Jew or not...America loves and respects Netanyahu. We feel a strong connection to Israel and her people, just as Netanyahu spoke about in Congress. I hope Israel understands how we feel.
86. Foreigner in American Policy?
jsrRoger ,   USA   (06.17.11)
I responded to him, too - as an American disgusted with the lack of understand from some in my country. He got it backwards, of course. I'll have to say the the majority of Americans love and respect Israel and Netanyahu...and totally believe in his policies. Our polls show 65% favor Netanyahu's policies for Israel. We have Senators with proposed resolution that the U.S. does NOT favor a return to pre-1957 border...flying in Obama's face. And, Obama is being investigated as we speak and many of us look foward to better days.
87. 49 - Another one with loyalty syndrom
split ,   US   (06.17.11)
This primitive boor Netanyahu from a shameless beggar nation that can't even support itself without our handouts is insulting US president in US Congress in front of civilised World and gets a standing ovation ,... Never voted for a democrat in White House, this time I will ,...
88. #80 20%? Wrong! In US 63% support Israel
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (06.17.11)
The February Gallup poll showed 63% of Americans support Israelis, 17% support Palestinians, 20% support Both/Neither or have No Opinion and: "In recent years...Americans' sympathies...have leaned heavily toward the Israelis. In fact, with more than 60% of Americans sympathizing with Israel since 2010, public support for the Jewish state has been stronger than at any time other than in 1991...Israel currently enjoys popular U.S. support across all major party groups and most major societal subgroups; however, sympathy for it is particularly strong among Republicans and, relatedly, among conservatives." with "liberals the least supportive of Israel..."
89. Ben Jabo's useless predictions on Obama
ballistic ,   Henderson, USA   (06.18.11)
When Obama was running for president, you said he was a "flash in the pan". The Repubs will be ousted come November because they cut union and Medicare benefits, period. Look at the NY seat that went to a Dem for the first time in yeeeeeears. Obama will be reelected, sorry. Israel is not the center of the universe and our spineless bought off by AIPAC Congressional minions will disappear too. Stop predicting; you are bad at it. One Palestinian state coming in September to a location near you. Free Palestine.
90. 89 - Short memory ,...
split ,   US   (06.19.11)
