92. #2; Bill, & #24; J1, THE ANSWER
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.18.11)
#2; No, The ignorant usually buy into the sound bite, as you did, and do. But even a brief search of International Law shows your simpleton remarks to be wrong. There is a big difference between a Defensive war vs a Offensive War. First it's important to note that prior to 1967 the exact same situation existed. Israel was NOT in the West Bank, yet were relentlessly attacked by Arabs from all countries around them. So the so called "occupation" isn't a reason or obstacle to peace, is it? Second, when a country is attacked...as is Israel was...with the goal of the attackers to annihilate Israel (just read any of the newspapers at the time). If those countries who started the war lose, there is a price to be paid. Otherwise you remove the penalty for the aggressor. Since they could start wars to take land of another country and if they lose, they get all their land back. That would be an incentive to start wars, because you removed the risk for the aggressor. Is that to complicated for you to follow Bill. #24; Gee, never heard that antisemitic remark before! Very creative. Your so funny and clever, a legend, in your own mind.

you and the zionist entity of "israel" are always such "poor, innocent" victims. the other party is always bad, evil and is always wrong. the world is more complicated than that. give me a break with your ridiculous, one-sided selfpity and victimrole-hood. if the un should not have existed, it should be invented right now. you are always accusing/blaming( the) other(s) people(s) and never looking/examining (at) your own role/behaviour. become a real adult. much wisdom for you.
95. John #87 ask your own government
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.18.11)
They have voted against us since 1947. Your government has ALWAYS sided with the fascists that are attempting to finish what the Nazis started. I strongly suggest that you start with that point.
96. Reply to #2
Norman Silbert ,   Israel   (06.18.11)
I agree, Israel is currently occupying territory; HOWEVER: 1 - It is trying to reach an agreement to end occupation 2 - Israel does not slaughter innocent civilians in an attempt to keep a dictatorship in power 3 - Even proven terrorists who have caused the death of dozens in one attack are put on PUBLIC trial - no kangaroo court followed by execution. Think about all this before you trot out the mindless dribble that passes for media coverage and provides soundbytes for dummies
97. Reply to justice, #94
FG   (06.18.11)
"you and the zionist entity of "israel" are always such "poor, innocent" victims. the other party is always bad, evil and is always wrong." Exactly as you say, little primitive. Bingo!
98. WHY THE UN ISN'T RESPECTED
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.18.11)
Really it's just another in the long list of why the UN has no real credibility. From putting countries like Syria and Libya on the "Human Rights Council" in the UN, to this recent debacle. Frankly I thought Ron Prosor the recently appointed Israeli Ambassador to the UN, described it simply, and perfectly. He stated and I quote: "It is utter insolence that tyrannical regimes are judging Israel, the only democratic country in the Middle East, with a dignified court system." He absolutely hit the nail on the head. Sometime people come up with the perfect statement that brings simple clarity to the situation, this one of those occasions. The above quote is why the UN is looked at as way of thug nations, and dictators, to gain a false legitimacy, nothing more.
99. #19 LEBANON'S SHAME
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.18.11)
I have an even better idea, how about your proving that the Arabs have some validity in claiming the land is theirs ? It should be easy enough for you to do, so do it to help them out A FEW EASY QUESTIONS ABOUT PALESTINE Who are the "True Natives" ? So far nobody has been able to prove it was the Palestinian's, let's see how good you are at it, you can be the very first to do so Just keep in mind, if you don't answer, you've wrecked the case you're trying to make Name its kings or rulers. What are their achievements? With which other peoples did the Palestinians interact? Where can one find any records where in the name of the country of Palestine or its people are mentioned? What Archaeological sites can one name? Where can one find the recorded history of these people? Whom did they conquer or were conquered by? Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or even now, leaves no room for misunderstanding? Can anyone name at least Five Palestinian leaders before Arafat? Since there is no such recognized country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur? Those who are lamenting the 'low sinking' of a 'once proud' nation, please tell us, when exactly was this proud nation brought down? By whom was it brought down? Also, what was it so proud of? And here are some very important historical facts and further relevant questions: Not even under the Ottoman Empire's 500 years occupation was the name of Palestine used for any part or section of the Holy Land for administrative purposes. If there were an entity called Palestine and its people Palestinians, it would beggar logic and belief that the Muslim Ottomans would not denote the area with their name.
100. Shame
Feldheld   (06.18.11)
Every day there is another new reason to be ashamed for being a German.
101. # 19 a fellow Canadian
harryg ,   montreal canada   (06.18.11)
. You need to start by asking what Lebanon and other Arab countries have done for the Palestinians . As a matter of fact they have no rights at all . Talk about human rights ! It seens you guys are willing to spend billions on weapons but not one cent to help your own people .So look in your own back yard first before making accusations .The problem is you and yours always blame others for your miseries and never analyse what you are doing . Did it ever occur to you to question why your governments chose to go to war so many times ?Or did you just follow like idiots ? Take off your blinkers, open your mind ,and face your sad truth.
102. Well Israel, stop being a bully
Leon ,   Ottawa, Canada   (06.18.11)
154 nations is an overwhelming number and it shows that the majority of nations around the world are not fooled by Israeli hasbara. Only the fascist nation of Canada, the waning imperial nation of the US and the I don't know what is nation of Palau back Israel. Israel can stop this 'targetting' by obeying international law and respecting human rights.
103. Leon #102 bullies
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.18.11)
Yes 154 nations (mainly dictatorships) have ganged up on the one liberal democracy in the Middle East. That is the definition of a bully. As for international law - guess what every single international law in the entire world supports our claims. Care to name one just one that supports the Arabs? Bet you won't even try. Accusing Canada of being fascist, what a laugh you don't even know what the term means. The countries attempting to bully Israel are by definition fascist - you might want to learn the terms before you use them, because you have proven how stupid you are. Yes 154 regimes against one tells the story. The bully isn't us - it's racists like you.
104. #102 Leon, I wan't quite certain
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.18.11)
Now I know you are a moron There are six million Jews in Israel, more than a billion Muslims throughout the world How in the hell can 6 million bully a Billion plus "International Law", such as the UN Partition plan, that the Arabs violated when they attacked Israel on 5/14/48 ? Since you claim that Canada is a "Fascist Nation", why is a great humanitarian still staying there, it should be totally repulsive to you, unless of course, you're on Social Welfare, bumming from the rest of the working population "Human rights”, you must have Sharia Law in whatever mind you have The same law that treats all non-Muslims as lesser beings, look at how Dhimmi's are to be treated, you dummy, it’s there in your Koran, and clearly stated
105. #55. Can't do that
dshap ,   Miami, USA   (06.18.11)
Suicide is the only thing Israel could do to get the racist unhrc to stop it's racist paradigm. We all know that would be a sin against Hashem.

and do you really believe this? you can also believe in fairy tales, in utopia and that the earth is flat. but did you read the rest of my talkback? iam glad that i have not a one-sided opinion in the conflict between the zionists and the palestinians and the other arabs. but if the zionists have the right on a state, then eg the palestinians and the kurds and every people have that same right too. we are all equal with the same rights. nobody/no people is above the law. FOR A FREE AND DEMOCRATIC WORLD FOR (A) FREE PEOPLE(S)/MANKIND WITH THE SAME EQUAL RIGHTS!!!!
107. To EJL about Mr's Sarah B
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (06.18.11)
No, my dear. I know she is well married and has a son, perhaps more than one. I like the refered Lady for her firm positions, her culture and her authenticity. But some last comments, from her, have brought sadness to me. The ugly word "fuck-d", for instance, is not adequated for public discussions. At least in my country. And I repeat to all Jewish brothers and sisters: Exactly because I am a true friend of yours, I put my messages into (democratic) YNET, on the only scope of collaboration. Israel must be strong, but never unfair. UNO is very important. Don't confound the entity with some members.
108. #103 and #104 Please try to be mature
Leon ,   Ottawa, Canada   (06.18.11)
Both of you don't have to resort to name calling. I trust that we are all adults. To #103, the UN charter clearly states that countries are not allowed to keep territory seized during a war. Israel captured the West Bank and Gaza Strip in 1967 war and even the International Criminal Court unanimously ruled that it is "occupied Palestinian territory." Secondly, our PM, like Israel is a bully. I know because I live here. To #104, six million people can be the biggest bully in the neighbourhood when they are armed to the teeth by the US. Israel has more F-16s than any other country in world except the US.

clever cloggs you forgot to mention Israel has a wee bit more than F 16's. yes sure Israel is ''armed to the teeth'' & we sure need to be as we are surrounded by such over-friendly muslim neighbours who would be ever so happy to see us vanish into thin air.

your utopia is down the road, first turning to the right. start walking & enjoy your trip.
112. 107

No one is perfect.
113. #108 Not Occupied & Not Palestinian
Cynthia ,   USA   (06.18.11)
UN Security Council Resolution 242 refers to territory recaptured in 1967 from Jordan which Jordan captured from Israel in 1948. It does not state all territory or define which territory. This resolution does not even mention the Palestinians. Including Gaza, Sinai and the Golan Heights, Israel has already returned 90%+ of the territories. Negotiations between parties to resolve the dispute must leave Israel with secure borders. Israel is armed for a reason. The neighbors keep attacking her and their supporters keep provoking her. Needing to defend yourself against real and constant threats does not make Israel a bully. That label is absurd and you obviously don't know the facts.

you did not read my talkback well. i do not believe in utopia, but i have my opinions and ideals like everybody else. may i? thank you for wishing me a good trip when i"ll take a vacation. mazeltov. shalom/shalaam. FOR A FREE, DEMOCRATIC AND JUST WORLD FOR ALL OF US!!!!!
115. Leon #108 try to pretend to be intelligent
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.19.11)
If stating that you are stupid for calling Canada fascist is name calling then you had better stop calling people something you have no clue as to the meaning. As for racist - well if the shoe fits. Let's look at your 154 countries. It includes every fascist, communist, terrorist, thugocracy and assorted dictatorship in the entire world. That alone should tell everybody something. When all the racists, terrorists, thieves, rapists and murderers in the world support your point of view the anybody with any sort of brain would examine their view point. As for international law - Israel's claim to the land west of the Jordan River is in the UN Charter and the Mandate for Palestine - both of which are international law. We didn't capture it, we liberated our lands. The ICC is an apartheid regime that violated both it's charter and international law to make that ruling. Israel is not bound to organizations that it cannot be a member of. Now how about something real hard - can you find one legal claim for the Arabs? I bet you won't even try. So 154 of the worse thugs in the entire world gang up on one of the smallest countries in the world and little Israel that isn't even 1/10000th their size is the bully. Try learning the definition of a bully - it ain't Israel that is the bully.
116. to #2
David ,   Newton, MA, USA   (06.19.11)
Suppose Israel's "occupation" does, in fact, deserve the U.N.'s attention (which I personally don't believe it does, but agree to disagree). Why isn't the U.N. then cracking down on all the dictatorships in Syria, Iran, Libya, and North Korea, which are murdering thousands of their citizens like it's all a big joke? THAT is the biggest problem; the biggest problem is not that the U.N. condemns Israel.
117. @#19 LebanonPride...
Lenya ,   Australia   (06.19.11)
More appropriately LebanonShameful.. Lebanon governed by Hezbollah, controlled by Syria and future part of Iran. Yes so called "LebanonPride" I have seen your other Israel -hate comments on multiple other Internet columns. You are not naive you know what is going on the middle-east but because of your innate hatred of Jews you will keep trolling the Internet with your biased, uneducated, vitriol against Israel, I don't know if I should detest you or feel sorry for you.
118. #108 Leon, time to wake up
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEl   (06.19.11)
How conveneint to cite the UN Charter when it suits you and to ignore it when it doesn't The UN called for a Partiiton Plan, which the Arabs prompbly ignored when they attacked Israel I'm still waiting for you to answer the questions that would have proven tht it was Palestinian Land, whatsa matter, tongue tied ? Round and around we go, and you still won't answer the questions to prove your point
119. #118 Can you read
Leon ,   Ottawa, Canada   (06.20.11)
I have already pointed out that the International Criminal Court ruling of 2004 declared that the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem are "Occupied Palestinian Territories." If you want to learn about the history of the founding of Israel, maybe you should actually read something other than Zionist hasbara. Read Ilan Pappe's book about the Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine or Benny Morris's book documenting and justifying the ethnic cleansing of Palestine.
