There are plenty of illegals - both workers and "activists" lying when they enter Israel and over-staying VISAs. Why can't we institute the same harsh policies here to ban people for life, to toss them in jail and humiliate them by forcing them to beg their parents for money to get out, to put a big black stamp on their fat American or EU passport?? I tend to side with the US in this case even though I understand the young Israeli side. I support national laws and border protection, and believe Israel shouldn't be an open door to every nut or terrorist looking to gain entry, no matter how many claims of "undemocratic" are voiced.

These are nice Israeli kids, William. They are not criminals or thugs or generally undesirable. In fact, I remember an incident a year or so back when one of these kids performed CPR on a person who had collapsed in the mall when no American would touch him for fear of being sued. These kids are straight out of the IDF where, as you well know, they put their lives on the line every single day. I don't begrudge them earning spending cash. I agree with you that these are decent kids. However, that does not change the fact that they are breaking the law. There is no difference between what they are doing in America and what a lot of illegal workers are doing here in Israel. We can't expect the government here to deport Thai workers, for example, who have run from their employers when their visa was finished and have a different standard for Israelis working illegally in America. When these kids are knowingly breaking the law they should expect to be treated as any other illegal worker and be deported. I don't believe it has anything to do with them being Jewish or not. If it was an illegal Mexican worker would you still feel that what they are doing is ok?

I really do not see your point. Illegals are just that illegal. Israelis have to learn to fit in- the law applies to all people, not just to 'others'. A tourist visa is for tourists, not people who want to make a quick buck... why should Jews be above the law- anywhere?

Most of the time those 'illegals', are in fact legal or citizens. Besides, they are not treated any different. An illegal citizen is an illegal citizen.
