jeremy ,   hula valley   (06.29.11)
Good for her. I commend Noy's achievement and hope other women will follow her
2. question...
risen ,   israel   (06.29.11)
do women have the guts it takes to pull the trigger on a person in their sights?
3. 'At a girl!
Paul ,   Israel   (06.29.11)
Way to go Noy! You have my total support. To #2: Guts is not gender specific.
4. response to #2 on female snipers
jeremy ,   hula valley kibbutz   (06.29.11)
I think she does, or she wouldn't have volunteered for a combat unit.
5. risen 2#
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (06.29.11)
anti terrorist units are always trained to shoot women terrorists first because they are more violent and likely to shoot without feeling so there is your answer .the truth is she probably had to reach a higher standard than usual because she is a woman
6. To:#2 risen YEAH. they gottem
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (06.29.11)
I have worked with females in armed enforcement positions under the most stressful armed confrontational conditions possible, since the early part of the 1960's up until the very last part of the '1990's. Trust me bunky. A trained and committed lady, aint no lady. Being "done", by a female aint what you think it is.
7. Women are known to be better Snippers
Zeev ,   Holland   (06.29.11)
In the second world war Russia did use women as snippers, they where very good. And feared by the germans. They did say in Russia that they could have a better consntration that male snippers.
8. Yeah, but how well does she make coffee?
Amir   (06.29.11)
Having been a combat soldier myself, I have many doubts that women can carry out the role just as well as men. They don't have the strength, the stamina, or the ability to lead into battle that men naturally have. That's a fact.
9. #2
Pedro ,   Brazil   (06.29.11)
Search about Russian female snipers in WW2.
10. 2nd Lt Noy! You go, girl, sir! Yay!
PBI ,   Israel   (06.29.11)
Kol HaKavod to you and Kol HaKavod L'Tzahal! Way to go!
11. This YNET posting is for you, Sarah
Cameron ,   USA   (06.29.11)
An angry woman with a sniper rifle is a fearsome scenario.
12. Many women are now comanders of
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.29.11)
units comprised entirely of men. Talk is that they are tougher, more demanding, than any male could be. The fact that women are so core to our military is one of the reasons why the IDF is such an excellent army. Congratulations Second Lieutenant Noy!
13. Israel is not ready for a female soldier
Moshe   (06.29.11)
to get killed in the line of duty. Every female who died that way caused tremendous shock waves in the media, far greater than a male soldier. I dread to think what will happen if a female soldier gets captured like Gilad Schalitt. Yes, I know women are just as good as men and can do anything men do, but still, that doesn't mean they should be permitted to.
14. Moshe / 13 / Israel need to be ready...
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (06.29.11)
I believe the time is coming when Israel will need every able bodied person to help defend her. I greatly admire this wonderful woman and though I share your dread at the thoughts of capture, I think it is wonderful that Israel is doing this. The world needs to see that Muslims only think their women are good enough to strap bombs to. Israel's women are good enough to kick Muslim mens behinds. I am proud of this woman and I am proud of Israel.
15. Affirmative action is harmful and unneeded.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.29.11)
Employment in every area and level should be blind to gender and group identify. Whoever is the most capable should get the job. Period. Affirmative action, or reverse discrimination, is harmful and unneeded.
16. #11 Cameron, USA
Sarah B. ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.29.11)
Even though I am a great lawyer, I believe that I would make a better sniper...
17. #2, not only do women have the guts...
Jake ,   USA   (06.29.11)
...they have the steady hands needed not to miss their target.
18. Col HaKovod ahoti!
Mark ,   J-lem   (06.29.11)
19. To: Risen at No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.29.11)
Are you serious? Most women would do it with less hesitation than men. Gender-wise, it's been proven that women are far more ruthless than men.
20. 2 Risen, Israel: It truly does take guts to pull the trigger
Rivkah   (06.29.11)
on a person in one's sights in battle. A study of U.S. soldiers in WWII showed only one in ten would fire his weapon and kill another person. 9 out of 10 would rather die than to kill another person in battle. That goes back to the mistranslation of the Commandment "Thou shalt not murder". It was mistranslated thou shalt not kill in most Bibles. It is all right with YHWH to kill with lawful government authority in battle or as police or in self defense. So it is not just women who need the courage to shoot when necessary. Men need a lot of courage to do that, too. By the way, it was a woman with a concealed weapon gun permit in a church in Texas who stopped a gunman by killing him, thus preventing him from shooting any more people than he already had.
21.  "women are far more ruthless than men".
split ,   US   (06.29.11)
Tell me why ? ,...
22. #2 Risen
Sarah B. ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.29.11)
Are you serious? Israeli women would do it with less hesitation than men, even if the target is a baby...
23. The post at No. 22 is not mine
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.30.11)
... but I would remind the cowardly, vile and disgusting imposter at No. 22 that it was not a Jewish woman who slit the throats of the sleeping Fogel family (including three small children, one of whom was three months old).
24. Well done and good hunting!
John ,   Alaska   (06.30.11)
25. Snipers...
Zev ,   Scottsdale AZ   (06.30.11)
A couple of points: snipers do not pull, squeeze, or jerk the trigger...we press them The MK24 is not any more 'prestigious' than a MK12 SASS...I can debate 5.56 .v. .308 all day A woman will not be able to spend 3 days in front of her lines, quietly waiting for the asset...they simply talk too much :) Nah, just kidding, we all saw G.I. Jane and know that Demi is a Kabbalist.
26. Awww c'mon Talkback Master...
Zev ,   Scottsdale AZ   (06.30.11)
As a sniper, I thought that was a pretty funny post. Pretty please post it?
27. Guess they are needed as the harideem dont serve
Haim ,   Tel aviv   (06.30.11)
28. IN YOUR FIRST WAR
LARRY ,   US ARMY RETIRED   (06.30.11)

29. to Wes the spit or split 21
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (06.30.11)
You would need to understand women in order for your question to be answered.
30. to 2
