I can't recall the cost of the plane that was brought here from the U.S. to douse the Carmel forest fire, but maybe it would be a good idea if Israel owned one. We've witnessed quite a few fires recently. Now Yad Vashem is in the danger zone, not to mention the Pi Glilot petroleum terminal. This is scary and am wishing for a safe recovery.

I'm sure the fire fighters reacted quickly as they should but how are they supposed to get to the scene when Israeli drivers are not willing to yield one inch? We saw this in T.A. just last night when drivers refused to get out of the way of a fire truck.

6 planes sounds good, but they're actually tiny cropdusters, with very little carrying capacity. (and it isn't clear whether they have enough fire retardant chemicals on hand to do the job, either.) the iaf could have converted some c-130s to do the job a lot better, or they should have stuck to the original plan and bought canadair water bombers. an "arsenal", perhaps, but it's full of toy guns, and too little ammunition.

I hope to G-d that Yad Vashem got a wake up call now! How can you store these precious archives in a place where they can burn or become water damaged and be destroyed? Now is the time to find a really safe place -- forever! And we would like to hear and read about it, soon!
