2. Flotilla provocation result . . .
AlbertoGA ,   St. George,USA   (07.19.11)
Confiscate the boat and a week visit in Israeli Jails. A very minimum.
3. A TYPICALLY FRENCH.....
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (07.19.11)
...beau geste. Utterly futile. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
4. "Flotz"illa
die(down) already, ,   usa   (07.19.11)
Get rid of Aljazira and many of those "piss" activists will vanish with it. And maybe, just maybe ynet will stop referring to these creeps-terrorists-antisemites as "peace activists"
5. So ends that bit of foolishness
Cameron ,   USA   (07.19.11)
Let them cool their heels in a compound for a couple of weeks.
6. It would have been better if other ships joined escort
William ,   Israel   (07.19.11)
like private yachts and fishing boats of Israelis, blowing their horns, waiving Israeli flags, and taunting these criminals while celebrating Israel's sovereignty and noble IDF!
7. Flotilla???? One boat?????
ME ,   USA   (07.19.11)
I do believe that is a stretch. Of course it was a non-violent confrontation......only because the "flotilla activists" were'nt attacking jihadists looking to be martyred. Good job Israel! "Flotillas" are played out and LAME!
8. Will the vessel be confiscated?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.19.11)
That is customary when vessels attempt to breach or otherwise circumvent a fully legal and internationally recognized blockade. Forfeiture of the vessel as what is known in the maritime world as "prize." The best way to avoid future flotilla attempts is to confiscate the vessels that are intercepted. These are not inexpensive vessels; confiscating them when they attempt to breach the blockade of the Strip will make the prospect of "donating" or "chartering" a vessel to flotilla organizers much less attractive a proposition for the owners of the vessel. Nothing says "Oops, this was a BIG mistake" like the loss of a $1.0 million-plus yacht.
9. longsuffering
pasquinel ,   london canada   (07.19.11)
Israel has more patience than Job. I'd love to see the floaters try this on Putin.
10. #8 Fining them important to prevent copy-cats
Andrée ,   Paris   (07.19.11)
Sarah is absolutely right. It is also important to serve them a with a very heavy fine. They should be punished financially for violating the embargo. This is one of the sole measures that will help prevent future lawbreakers.
11. Just ship what they want thru Egypt!
Steve ,   Miami FL USA   (07.19.11)
They can now ship what they want through Egypt, why the dramatics?
12. What a bunch of Jerks - jail & deport them
Isaac   (07.19.11)
They have their nerve. The IDF has more important things to do then to spend it babysitting a bunch of selfish jerks. Take the ship and sell it. Additionally, jail the people and fine them. If they want to get out of jail - make them pay with a hugh amount of bail. (The same thing that would happen to them if they had pulled such a stunt in the US. )
13. Blockade runners
Michael Garkawe ,   Madison,NJ USA   (07.19.11)
Why are the yachts playing games with the Gaza blockade being treated like children. This is not a game. It is costly for Israel. I don't understand why these yachts are not confiscated. Israel should confiscate these yachts to be compensated for the cost involved to keep them out of Gaza and to make it expensive to these irresponsible blockade runners.
14. That's good.
Israeli 2   (07.19.11)
The HIGH is gone and they are now on the way DOWN.
15. a
a ,   a   (07.19.11)
bad writing, explain more... it needs context
16. Sarah & Andrée
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.19.11)
Ditto for both suggestions and then deport them back to Greece where they came from. I am sure the Greek authorities don't appreciate terrorist supporters from breaking their laws.
17. After seizing the boat, perhaps Israel should ...
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (07.19.11)
... deport them to *Egypt*. After all, they claimed they were heading for Alexandria. Egypt could, of course, with its new Hamas-friendly government allow them access to Gaza, where they'd be ignored (or laughed at) by most. They may expect a heroes's welcome, but once it's clear there was no aid of value on the boat, what they may get instead is disdain.
18. #8 is right and also
sasha ,   Bilbao   (07.19.11)
they should be charged paying the administrative expenses, food etc.
19. To: Pasquinel at No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.19.11)
LOL! I'd love to see them try it on anyone ... can you imagine the reception they would get were they to try to arrive to Latakia in Syria -- where people are truly being oppressed? Or Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia -- where people are also truly being oppressed? How about Bandar Abbas in Iran – where the degree of oppression exceeds Syria and Saudi Arabia combined? It never ceases to amaze me how people accuse Israel of "oppressing" the ersatz "Palestinians," without realizing what would be the consequences of an attempt to launch a "humanitarian flotilla" to countries where there are REAL humanitarian crises. It also gives me pause to wonder -- why don't these "activists" (terrorist sympathizers) actually attempt to organize a "humanitarian flotilla" to any of the over one hundred countries that really do have humanitarian crises? Can it be that they are nothing more than a bunch of cowardly hypocrites? Gaza's supermarket shelves are stocked to the breaking point, thanks to daily convoys from Israel carrying tens of thousands of metric tons of food and other humanitarian aid. This, despite the fact that Hamas continually reiterates that its goal is the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination of the Jewish people. The so-called "humanitarian activists" really should turn their attention elsewhere. There is much to be done throughout the world; things far more tangibly humanitarian than a couple of boxes of expired over-the-counter medications and a handful of mouldy blankets. That's the extent of the "humanitarian cargo" carried by the MAVI MARMARA in 2010, remember? "Humanitarian activists," indeed! "Frauds and phonies" is far closer to the mark.
20. deportation and automatic removal ........
secular beast   (07.19.11)
from Israel for 10 years!? I advise them to convert to Judaism by the great Ovadia yosef. then.you guys get full blown automatic citizenship, seculars are not welcome
21. Flop!zilla
Itzik ,   France   (07.19.11)
22. #11 - they have nothing to ship through Egypt
William ,   Israel   (07.19.11)
bringing "aid" was never the point of this ship, hence the dramatics - that's all they really have.
23. To: Cameron at No. 5
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.19.11)
Ah, yes! Excellent suggestion. July and August in an unairconditioned compound in Ashdod. Not exactly the Tel Aviv Hilton, you know?
24. activists wont sign confession of transgressing territory
observer   (07.19.11)
blockade is illegal because there is no fighting between Israel and Hamas, actually both observe cease fire now. Hijacking.
25. To: Michael at No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.19.11)
Exactly. But these yachts should not be confiscated because Israel incurs expense upholding its fully legal and internationally recognized blockade. These yachts should be confiscated because that is maritime law (it's called "prize"). As to recouping Israel's considerable expense in countering these silly "flotillas" -- I go with Andree at No. 10. Impose fines, and if the fines aren't paid, seize or lien property.
26. Cretins
Bob ,   New York, USA   (07.19.11)
1. Auction off the boat and use funds to build shelters in Sderot. 2. Send these cretins to Gaza and make them stay there. They love Hamas so much, let them live under Hamas rule.
27. Israel Guilty of Disproportinate Tolerance
Dallas ,   Canada   (07.19.11)
I wonder if Syria would have given them milk and cookies?
28. Israeli war crimes
Sam M ,   UK   (07.19.11)
Pals must have kind of new medical condition when well fed and in many cases actually obese people are classed as victims of food shortages by moronic activists. For goodness sake even Egyptian brides are coming in to gaza hauled in by tunnel rats and some of them are on the heavy side not to mention the markets overflowing with food! Call that suffering. Idiots!
29. French boats leave Ashdod Port into the sunset.
Ypip ,   Canada   (07.20.11)
30. #24 OBSERVER - YOU'RE NUTS
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.20.11)
What the heck do you call those rockets that Hamas is firing into Israel, Good Will Offerings ? Read the news just for the past week or so, quite a number of rockets have been fired Of course the blockade is legal, the big mistake Israel made is that Cast Lead didn't level Gaza totally Stay out of the sun, it's effecting your ability to think
