Being underground, especially near a parking lot, is extremely dangerous for young bodies. I worry about the toxic fumes, like carbon monoxide, from the parking lot. The housing crisis is a real epidemic that needs to be addressed on the same threat level as national security.

We live in a new apartment complex in a haredi neighborhood in givat shaul. an owner of one the apartments here has turned his underground parking spot and storage room into an apartment. he is currently renting it out for 3000 Nis a month! i was actually in this apartment and it has no windows and for sunlight they open up their front door to get air from the garage. I also just noticed that someone else has made their parking spot into an apartment. looks smaller though.

There are beautiful homes here, a 4-5 bedroom house with a yard can be purchased very cheaply. The garage is larger than most Israeli apartments! Nice Jewish neighborhood and good schools.

I really don't think that someone who doesn't work and have 10 kids can afford paying 3000 or 4000shekel per month without getting work.Not all the haredi are not working...And even if they don't, the rent is not going to be less high.I am paying 3500 shekel to my apartment and my salary for month is 4000 shekel.So, mister, before you make a comment about haredim you should know that the point is not if they work or not.The point is no normal, regular person in this country, haredi or not, working or not, can afford renting an apartment not to speak about buying one.How many children someone has is nobody's bussines!

The housing situation in some of the Haredi areas of Jerisalem is scandalous. Some Haredi familes are being charged outragously high rents for hovels. This is rent gouging at its worst. What kind of 'Haredi' would cheat another Haredi? It is quite common to have 10+ persons livng in an apartment designed for 5 persons like you would find in some Third World slum. This is the reality. Where are the City of Jerusalem inspectors?

Haredim should know how to use contraceptives and not have children when there is no room for them. No government can solve problems of families that give birth to so many children so frequently. I feel sorry for children who are growing up in dungeons. The solution is in the "hands" of their parents.

There is something very wrong with anyone who promotes the idea that Jews in Israel have less children rather than more. First of all, every Jewish child is a blessing and secondly, Palestinian women have very large families. Do we want them to overwhelm us with their numbers? If we do not want more Jews then we should place a ban on aliya. Israel was created as a socialist state where the government is supposed to assist in the distribution of wealth and provide care for the needy. Have some Jews forgotten why Israel was created?
