2. The World is Upside Down in the M.E.
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (07.29.11)
If the attacker was a Jew, he (she) will probably get 1 life term, with no chance of parole (Israel has no death penalty unless for crimes against humanity). If the attacker was an Arab, he (she) will be incarcerated for 5 years, then released per some deal with Hamas or Hez. (Hamas says it will release Shalit for 1,000 prisoners out of 7,000 Israel holds..its a good deal according to them, and Bibi is stalling for political reasons. In the meantime, Shalits family protest Bibis impotency, as opposed to Hamas thuggery and criminal action. Is the world upside down or what?

4. Rabbi Elazar Abuchatzera
Moshe R ,   New York   (07.29.11)
He lived like his grandfather... obviously loved and admired him and loved him plenty. Unfortunately though he was seeped in superstition and lived his life only fueling the superstition of many others, giving false hopes. I've heard that Sephardic rabbis practice that when someone has a private talk ... especially with a big one like Rabbi Elazar, they are expected to gift generously.

The life force is in the blood, and it feels like Israel is bleeding tonight. Quiet recovery is required. May HaShem have mercy on Rabbi Abuhatzeira.
15. advice on marital issues
observer ,   Egypt   (07.29.11)
The Baba Sali's third wife, Rabanit Simi Abuhatzeira, who married Baba Sali when she was 15, is still living in Netivot. Rabbi Elazar should have asked his father Baba Sali (1890–1984) how to deal with elderly chap marrying young girl before he gave his own life for a trivial issue like that. Perhaps it was not appropriate to ask his step mother, younger than him, about such sensitive issues.

Aharon Abu-Hatzeira's father?

Perhaps it is inappropriate for you to address the issue of the age of one's bride. May I remind you that Mohammed married Aisha when he was in his sixties and she was six? Where I come from, we have a word for that, and it isn't "marriage." Would you like to discuss that sensitive issue? Didn't think so.
18. The truth often enrages, especially if it is Scriptural.
Rivkah   (07.29.11)
When people divorce and remarry during the lifetime of the first spouse without supporting the first wife, that is adultery unless there is a get condition for ending the first marriage according to YHWH's laws. I tell people who divorced and remarried that they should confess that as adultery regardless of the reason for the divorce since Rabbi Yeshua said from the beginning there was no divorce which means that there is no valid reason for divorce. Separation, yes. Divorce, no. But if there is a divorce, it is best to remain unmarried during the lifetime of the first spouse. I have known many people who did that: remained unmarried after a divorce. They remained unmarried until after the death of the first spouse. They loved the Ha'Shem that much.

observer ,   Egypt   (07.29.11)
The Brooklyn District Attorney's office has been investigating accusations that Rabbi Rabbi Elazar Abuhatzeira defrauded American Jews by reportedly taking hundreds of thousands of dollars for promises that he would use kabbala to help people cure the terminally ill. "If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD (Yahweh) shall be my G-d. And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all You give me I will surely give a tenth to You." (Gen. 28:20-22) "You take good care of me and I’ll give you back 10 per cent." Jacob, the heel-grabber made a conditional promise to G-d. G-d has always been fooled to pay his good blessings in advance before receiving the money. Is Almighty G-d in dire need of their money?
23. shrines are idols
observer ,   Egypt   (07.29.11)
Jews were not permitted to make any idol, in the likeness of a man nor a woman. The Golden Calf is was not man, and certainly was not woman.
24. He is sick. If you don't like rabbi's advice
John ,   Europe   (07.29.11)
You don't kill a man, you go and visit another rabbi, who will give you advice that you like. That's the way we do it. We don't kill people simply because we don't like their advices. Are we sure that this man is not in relationship with Breivik?
25. Talula, #7 - r u crazy?
John ,   Eu   (07.29.11)
This man is not evil. He is plain SICK in the head. Would you kill a crazy man? Even Torah forbids it!
26. How sick! What kind of world are we creating?

Or, at the very least lock him up in solitary until he dies.
29. #1 regarding the Police
Golani ,   Vineland, USA/Israel   (07.29.11)
It is not that we are living in a crazy country, or even a crazy world. It is the people. People need to get back to morality and that includes the religious and non religious. A truly religious human is also morally righteous and that is what is lacking. The cause is a multitude of a combination of factors. Whether religious or not, we need to think about what we do and how what we do affects others and ourselves. Our religion should be the guide to being a better person. I have met plenty of religious Jews who were not truly righteous, and I have met many non religious Jews or any religion that were righteous. I think that it takes a combination of religion and doing the right thing. How could anyone kill anyone who is not evil is beyond my comprehension? As far as the police, how could they have prevented this tragic murder? The police are mostly dedicated to what they do and what they are supposed to do. Kol ha kavod l’Mishteret Israel and kol ha kavod l’Tzahal. I am very impressed by the Israel National Police. This incident has nothing to do with the police but will now have everything to do with Justice. Shabbat Shalom and lets’ hope and pray for better times and only good things.
30. If I were the Rabbi, there would be a stun gun
Rivkah   (07.29.11)
in my pocket whenever another person other than family or close friends are present. I would not go out or allow anyone into the house without a stun gun weapon in my pocket. You can get them in the 5 million volt range which would stop a maniac attack. Be prepared, as the Boy Scouts say.
