31. ObamaLand
Jake ,   LA   (07.30.11)
Put the cards on the table-the protesters want something for nothing ie Socialism. Has everyone forgotten that it was old fashioned Socialism that kept Israel as a third world country?? Yes, you protesters in Israel want ObamaLand since the USA today is so prosperous---how stupid!!!
32. how can you copy the Arab countries??
RTK ,   Johannesburg South A   (07.30.11)
How can you guys copy the Arab countries, this is not the time for mass protests, now we look like we the same as the barbaric governments in the surrounding countries. Wake up Israel, we are much bigger than this, yes change is needed and it will come...now is NOT the time for protests...do not suck us into this regional turmoil!! Long live Israel, it's land and it's people may there be peace in our land!!
33. we want justice, not charity
observer ,   Egypt   (07.31.11)
"If G-d will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD (Yahweh) shall be my G-d. And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be G-d’s house, and of all You give me I will surely give a tenth to You." (Gen. 28:20-22) "You take good care of me and I’ll give you back 10 per cent." Jacob made a conditional promise to G-d. G-d has always been fooled to pay his good blessings in advance before receiving the money. Is Almighty G-d in dire need of their money? No more tithing, no more charity, Diaspora!
34. Lakhzeek m'amahd!
motti ,   Beer Sheva   (07.30.11)
In Jerusalem, they are waiting for it all to "blow over". "The storm will pass" they say. Remain active and angry even during the summer months. Perhaps more importantly, find leaders with the proven ability to lead. Don't give up now! Army officer retirees? Come forward, present your credentials! Are you sincere?
35. Israelis can protest whenever they want to
Ypip ,   Canada   (07.30.11)
It bears fruit.
36. Beware, Israelis
Cameron ,   USA   (07.30.11)
This marching on the streets demanding "social justice" and "transformation" has a foolish, unrealistic quality to it. We've had 3 years of such games and mindset here in the States, and affairs have gone from troubled to bloody awful. Tinker with & finesse the system to a certain degree, but be realists about goals & honest outcomes.
37. A desperate leftist attempt to stop progress.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.30.11)
As elections and polls incontrovertibly prove, Israel is becoming ever more patriotic, right wing and nationalistic. The right is winning elections by ever greater margins. Polls confirm this trend. For instance, recent polls show almost 80% of Israeli Jews oppose ceding Judea and Samaria. These rallies are a desperate leftist attempt to stop progress. Time is not on their side and they know it. They will not stop the vast patriotic majority from taking the reins of power.
38. #5 salma this has nothing to do with you
Ox ,   T.A. Israel   (07.30.11)
Israel will come out of this period stronger and more unified. There is no danger of revolution here, so your goals of undermining our existence are just getting further away....
39. This is what you get when you vote right wing
Haim ,   TA   (07.30.11)
40. #22 - well said
Eyal ,   USA/ISRAEL   (07.30.11)
41. Despicable 2
Hungarian Oleh ,   Israel   (07.30.11)
to British Oleh: When a widower new immigrant arrives with a child and just a dozen of hope, and gets 1733 shekel "sal klita" and pays from this huge sum of money 1700 shekel for rental fee....something wrong here... When she throws two academic degrees in the trashcan because her degrees are useless in Israel and goes to wash dishes in a restaurant for 2700 shekel per month, something wrong here... And if she marries an Israeli citizen loses all her "rights" as a new immigrant, no one wants to know about her anymore...SOMETHING REALLY WRONG HERE.
42. Always carry HOPE in your heart,
Israeli ,   Israel   (07.30.11)
smile on your face and Love in your spirit! Israel social revolution is here!!!!

44. Gotta be kidding
Oxartes ,   Israel   (07.30.11)
Bibi may be incompetent but holding up posters of Communist terrorists (excuse the redundancy) like Che Guevara won't win (at least my) sympathy.
45. Are you serious?
Tzipile ,   Tel Aviv   (07.31.11)
Guy Goldstein, a Haifa educator, said: "We demand to have our country back. We want to call it what it is – a welfare state. We demand an end to privatization." Get serious.. you want to go back to the days when everything was owned by the Histadrut? Do any of you remember the 80's and the hyper inflation? If Israel chooses the path of Socialism... I will leave never to return.
46. David # 30
(07.31.11)
"end the brutal rightwing totalitarianism that has existed for the last few decades. Stop smoking dope David.. It is killing your brain cells..
47. protests
zelda ,   tel aviv israel   (07.31.11)
The beginning of the end of serial exploitation of the Israeli people is here. One can only feel pride to be standing with the real people of this country for social justice which is a mutual need. The protests have raised our hopes for the future at last.
48. Over 1000 demonstrators in Modiin! Amazing!!!
(07.31.11)
49. @30 david
david ,   Jerusalem   (07.31.11)
completely agree with every word of yours. The damn occupation is a disgrace and an embarrassment. WE SHOULD PUT AND END TO IT NOW!! The rally in jerusalem was amazing, heartwarming and very strong. I'm sure Bibi had to put cotton in his ears, we were really loud.
50.  #3 I agree , they are always taking advantage of an opport

opportunity!
51. Stand Strong BiBi
Eli ,   Israel   (07.31.11)
Don't give in to these anarchists, yes we need to help to some extent but do not let these OBAMA Liberal anarchist scare you into communism. Tell Aviv is like Manhattan, if it is so expensive then you need to move. No to any welfare state. Stop spending so much money on Defense also, if they shoot a rocket level an entire street, It's better a thousand die and the fear kicks in than spend millions on special weaponry, a classic affordable carpet bombing will have better results and cost less.
52. Just when Israel was starting to shine as an economic
Al   (07.31.11)
entity and possible powerhouse comes along these whiners who wish to push Israel back 40 years. In 1974 I first came to Israel as a young idealistic young man wanting to live in Israel. I didnt speak Hebrew so I attened an ulpan, while working a half day on a Kibbutz. Isreal at that time was a huge protextia rackette. In fact were you not to have protextia getting toilet paper would have been a problem. Simply stated if you werent connected you got nowhere. Well after about 9 months of this nonsense I decided to return to Montreal finnish my economics degree and get on with life. I went to work, made some money, invested it and became wealthy. Not bad for a kid who really only wanted to be in Israel but couldnt stand the shnorreshe mentality. Today my sons are in Israel..I wish them well...They will do well as they saw a father who still works everyday and never expected anyone to pay his way. Better to be a giver than a taker I say. A shnorrer people can never be a nation.
53. #10
Ilana ,   Merkaz   (07.31.11)
How come that many guys not living in Israel are the ones who are giving us advice????? Why don't you come over here, work and make not 4000 shekels a month but 10000 shekels and raise a family pay high tax, rent, commodities, health insurance, travel (bus and train) and let's see how you manage !!!
54. Ita #27
Ilana ,   Merkaz   (07.31.11)
Did Dara ask you for advice ?????
55. #32 RTK
Ilana ,   Merkaz   (07.31.11)
When are you making alyiah ????
56. speculation leads to higher prices
John   (07.31.11)
Speculation by the rich has led to an increase in fuel, property and food prices. The rich are buying anything and everything that they can with the hope of selling it for much more money than it cost them. Now that they are doing this with many necessities of life, it is affecting many people because the prices for such goods have gone up not because of shortages but because these supplies are controlled by a few people who want to profit from artificially manipulated and created shortages that benefit their pocket book while everyone else suffers. This is the truth here.
57. This is ridiculous already
Zvi ,   Israel   (07.31.11)
These guys do not have Israel's best interests at heart. I've said it numerous times: You can't be capitalist and socialist at the same time - it doesn't work. Yes, there is a major problem with prices here. Protesting doesn't do anything. The way to start to deal with it is: 1) Lobby the Knesset to pass a law banning protekziya and vote out anyone who won't in the next elections 2) Give the anti-trust authority the ability to break up monopolies force closed sectors to allow competition with stiff fines 3) Overhaul the government to not be based on the utterly retarded British system that is based on party and instead be based on representative being subject to direct elections 4) Change the system of government to be a republic, not a democracy 5) Pass a law that ensure strict term-limits on these MKs 6) Annex the West Bank and building like crazy all over Judea, Samaria, Galil and Negev 7) No more stupid taxes like the one on coal which is about to jack up electricity prices by 20 percent Oh yeah, and btw, I live in Israel, barely make 3,500 NIS, am relying on my savings to get by until I finish graduate school and live in a tiny 3 room (not bedrooms) apartment. But I much prefer the situation now to living in a welfare state where I have no hope of ever making something of myself. Bibi has managed to lower the unemployment rate to unheard of level and we even have the Charedim beginning to work. That is incredible progress!!! If these people turn the clocks back 30 years by sticking a socialist like Amir Peretz or a moron like Livni in power, I'm going to return to the US and never come back. And that doesn't even touch on the fact that the world (other than Scandinavia and the Arabs) is starting to side with Israel regarding the Arab world and the "Palestinians", and that bringing down the government would probably change that.
58. Far Left hijacking issues around affordable housing; "Zionis
Fool me once ,   Rightist Israel   (07.31.11)
Zionism? That dude pesach haufater a "self appointed "leader said the goiv needs to chnage regarding Zionism. no wonder the far left is trying to beat the drums. Heres an idea! Make more incentives for Tel Avivians to leave the center of thbe country- go north go south! BUILD BABY BUILD
59. For what it's worth to those of you who
robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (07.31.11)
condemn protests and protesters, Maan News has a current article in which it states that amongst the thirty-four OECD nations, Israel ranks fifth (2011) in terms of the extent of the division of wealth between the very richest and very poorest. I had it said to me that Israel is controlled, economically speaking, by just nineteen families. Anyone actually familiar with the intricacies of Israeli life is awareof the immense difficulties for the average person to earn a living and to pay rent for a home (apartment) much less own one.
60. to the "Palestinians" who post here.. Salma and Nour and etc
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.31.11)
Yes Bibi might be gone soon... but Hashem willing HaIchud Leumi will win and for SURE you "peopple" will be going home to Jordan and Egypt. So do not hope for the end of Bibi, HE is the only reason you "people" are allowed in Israel.
