1. housing protest?
kapriza ,   tsafon   (08.04.11)
How dare those Rightists to try to make this protest actually about housing? The nerve of them!
2. How dare Rightists make their tents alongside TA Leftists
Chaim ,   Migron   (08.04.11)
Don't you know that Israel is a "democratic" state where Rightists may have no rights?
3. left
carlosito ,   tel-aviv   (08.04.11)
when you left and gay you have the only right to demostrate .
4. Disugsting!
Naor ,   USA   (08.04.11)
These protests should be maintained thru a combined effort of both political spectrums in Israel. Enough self hate, we have enough external enemies as it is.
5. It's not about housing. It's political.
Ben Yisrael ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.04.11)
6. and now the sectarian divide becomes apparent..
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
due to Leftist racism. My support for these protests have withered to less than zero percent.
7. Wait, are these Leftists or "palestinians"?
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
when losing an argument, yell accusations of racism then resort to violence.
8. Social justice...
Eli ,   Raanana   (08.04.11)
...exclusive only to the leftists. I hope this circus called 'housing protest' ends immediately. Israel is known for its common sense, this leftist stupidity does not fit here.
9. Leftists Are The New Fascists
NYC Girl   (08.04.11)
When I was a student I was involved in some very far left-wing organizations. But these days I'm disgusted by what these leftists have devolved into with their refusal to countenance any opinion or point of view that doesn't share their extremist ideology.
10. #8, I am with you 100%
SEK ,   New York, USA   (08.04.11)
11. #9 you are typical of most good (Jewish) Kids
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (08.04.11)
As a student liberal left wing ideologies look great, helping the poor, equal opportunities etc. Once we grow up, and start working for what we get, liberal left seems a bit dreamy. I've also been there. Many of us have.
12. Where are the liberal talkbackers on this one?
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (08.04.11)
13. #9 - what do you mean "new fascists"?
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
Chavez, Che Guevera, Castro, Iranian Mullahs, Bolsheviks, Mao Tse-Tung, Mugabe, Hamas, PLO, IRA, Stalin, Kim jong-il in North Korea.... Do you see a pattern among the regimes Leftists have widely supported besides the millions killed, oppressed and tortured?
14. #12 - drunk in a drum circle in the Tel Aviv tent city
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
15. Be careful of those rightists...
Dovid ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.04.11)
they will steal the land your tent is on.
16. No. 13 William
NYC Girl   (08.04.11)
Of course, you're absolutely right. But I didn't quite mean fascist in the literal sense. I was referring more to the tendency of many on the left to shut down any dissenting opinion...something you see far too often on college campuses, for example.
17. we're all in this TOGETHER!
israeli ,   israel   (08.04.11)
18. Sorry to say, but..
Jacob ,   Munich   (08.04.11)
all subsidies regarding housing went for political reasons into the WEST BANK. People were lured in for low housing costs. Therefore investments to settle in the Negev and Galil were not provided. If the settlers now claim to protest alongside the mainstream, is not acceptable. It does however not permit any violent and dangerous acts like the torching of a tent and so endangering lives.
19. LEFTISTS = REAL FASCISTS
(08.04.11)
20. wtf r israelis thinking of??!!?
Ester   (08.04.11)
u wanna a cheaper house? well u can always go and build ur own home in judea or shomron..
21. NIF funded far left organizers...APOLITICAL? think again.
Jew ,   Homeland   (08.04.11)
One of the far left stated among the issues to be raised was Zionism. Dude you want cheaper rent, more building, or you want to get into our national anthem. what lying sleaze, yuck.
22. Leftist admits: We are all on the payroll.
rnathans00 ,   Washington, USA   (08.04.11)
There's a revealing article in IsraelNationalNews quoting leftist Yotam Feldman, who admits that many have made working for these groups their vocation. He says, for example, "if it were not for the plethora of neo-colonialist European Union initiatives for solving disputes, safeguarding human rights and establishing good governance, it is likely that many of my acquaintances would find themselves without an income." Well, at last the truth is coming out.
23. Tents are empty. Protesters show up only for media.
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (08.04.11)
That is per a (liberal) friend who lives in TA. He was on Rothschild the other day and went up to the tents to see for himself. They were all empty. He found out the protesters are living at home and only show up to the tent area when they know the media is there. It makes sense, as living in a tent in the summer heat is like baking in an oven.
24. #15 - Rights are the reason we can pray at Western Wall
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
or is Judaism's holiest spot for 2500 years "stolen land"?
25. #16 - excellent point
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
26. #22 - seems like an odd quote
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
If Yotam is on the payroll of Leftist orgs, then why would he refer to them as "neo-colonialist EU initiatives"? Is he deriding the groups for poking their noses in the region while at the same time enjoying their benefits? I admit, this is very typical of the Leftists. Just look at the entire entourage of the failed flotillas, and members of ISM.
27. The left
Alice ,   Montreal, Que. Canad   (08.04.11)
The left, just a bunch of mercenaries, with no ideals and whatever they're doing is for their selfish purposes to keep them rolling on the payroll for whoever pays them.
28. #23 - what if we dressed like Leftists...
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
and began removing the tents? Or put inflaming slogans on them? or better yet, strategically place "Palestinian" flags in the tent city for the media to capture. At the very least, it will cause Leftists to remain in the tents rather at home in comfort.
29. No. 11 Rebecca
NYC Girl   (08.04.11)
I think it's something in our DNA. Although I have to admit that I've never given up my atheism or ultra-liberal positions on social issues. But what really turned me against the far left was their obsessive antipathy toward the U.S. and especially Israel, all the while sucking up to racists, misogynists and homophobes because they've bought into their victimhood narrative hook, line and sinker..
30. You cant away with stuff like this anymore.
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (08.04.11)
Everyone has a camera phone.
