The way you think it doesn't prove that you are such a smart women like you say....I would like to see your smart ass working in Israel for 50 years and then speak. You are smart when you speak from there.A lot of people do work their asses here for 4000 shakel every month more then 10 ours per day,and not in a office in New York, this is work....your comment is showing who is the reall idiot here...
62. high cost of living
Sarah ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.07.11)
Quit subsidizing laziness. The answer isn't "stop building in Yesha" -- those people work for a living. Quit subsidizing a bunch of useless lives who allegedly study Torah all day at taxpayers expense. Yeshiva should be like college--only the select who pass bagriot get in, and then you go for three years, then you get out and get a job and contribute to society and pay taxes. AFTER national service or the army. And get rid of child allowances and replace them with tax deductions from your income for each child--stop paying the unemployed and underemployed to have more children.
63. RE: #48 capitalism
John Gilbert   (08.07.11)
Similar things can be said of capitalism too: Capitalism is a philosophy of inequality, the creed of money and the gospel of greed, its inherent virtue is the unequal sharing of wealth.
64. What is perfectly clear--
Moshe ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.07.11)
this is not "merely" a protest of the left. It is a protest of the nation- taxi drivers (only leftists?), doctors, teachers, nurses, lorry drivers (all leftists?), mothers (all leftists?), etc etc etc It is a protests as much or more about the disdain that this government led by Netanyahu and Lieberman has for the citizens. Two years of nothing but speeches, of elitism, of special interests, of only caring about settlers and Haredim. That is what caused the boiling point. Keep giving speeches, Netanyahu. Pure B.S. from B.B.
65. Don't exagerate!
Bob ,   Israel   (08.07.11)
Ynet claims that it was "one of largest protest's in Israel's history ". Even if 300 000 people attended (which I doubt considering the numbers manipulations by the left biased media) don't forget that this is a total number: only 30 thousand (or even less) gathered in Jerusalem. Anti-Oslo demonstrations gathered up to 300 thousand people and demonstration against the tyranny of the Hight Court - 600-700 thousand people. So please do not exagerate!
66. I HEART ISRAEL!!!

67. this is how a demonstration looks like in a democracy:
Leon ,   Israel   (08.07.11)
NO violence, but also with much deodorant!!!
68. # 28
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (08.07.11)
You again? What right do you think you have to lecture us from your ivory towers eh? If you are posting at this time of the morning I imagine it's the villa in Savyon, rather than the penthouse in Manhattan. Since when do lawyers EARN their living eh? They are the most despised profession on the face of the earth because of the fees they charge to ordinary common people. You really don't know what this uprising is about do you?
69. A better distribution of wealth
Sam ,   Canada   (08.07.11)
Israelis won't tolerate a situation where hard working people can't make ends meet. Everybody is important in Israel and Israelis won't tolerate self-importance. In Israel no one should be left behind. Israelis won't stand for unbridled greed.

And what would your Leftist PM do, the same may be worse. How much money will he give to the students and to the underpaid. How much money will he give to the gay community, and I am not homophobic, I got plenty of gay friends. In the end the will be bigger problems created. I am underpaid and believe in my PM

74. National upheaval
Rina50 ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.07.11)
This demonstration is totaly bizarre. Did you see the huge rare Soviet Communist Poster from 30-40. It's a big poster with huge scary guy wearing red shirt (kosovorotka) and ala "Lenin" hat (kepka). He is poking his hand in your face and demand something. In Soviet Union this poster asked: "Are you sighned in Communist Party?" But on this poster they made another sighn in English. So this morons want to return us to the 30's or 40's in 20 century? Who they think they are? I think they did a good job by antagonizing this country. If they think they can send Bibi packing, they should think twice. It's not the first tome Bibi is a Premier Minister and always when he is in charge lestits trying to sue him, put him in jail. Who remember the law suit against BIbi " Baron-Hevron"? I remember. Who remember how Bibi was procecute for missing of some Premier Minister gifts from foreighn countries? I remember. We live in country with reduculouse people who have no brain and who want the power to rull it. But this demonstrators probably forget or ignored many people who is orthodox or olim hadashim from other countries. There are more than 1000000000 from post Soviet countries and I can tell they would hardly want to be under socialists again. It's a first time for 20 years I live in Israel, that I think, that the way people in our country devided it's a good thing. And it's good thing that the most olim from post Soviet countries didn't care about politics and didn't watch TV on Hebrew. And don't forget they always vote for someone like them. So this idiots did a good job to alient most of people from the leftists and next Premier would be Avigdor Liberman. I will vote for him and others would vote for him too.
75. i just dont understand what do you want from the IL gov
doodi ,   Israel   (08.07.11)
Bibi wont force the people to ask less money for rent, all he can do is to give cheap flats and lands in the periphery, means - Negev, Galil and Yehuda and Shomron. but let's be honest' the protester don't want it they want cheap flats in Jerusalem and tel Aviv.
76. To 8- Lod is not zol / cheap in housing
Reuben ,   Lod   (08.07.11)
Michael, I am aresident of Lod and living in Lod either is not cheap. Lod is a city famous for its crime, shootings in the sttreet and family honor killings. Stil it is expensive here. I t cost us family of four renting an 3 rooms appartment 2,500 NIS. Buying a decent appartment of 4 rooms will cost you around a million shekkels atleast if not more. How come it is cheap?
77. #62, learning Torah IS National Service..
ita ,   israel   (08.07.11)
without the learning of Torah.. the IDF would be worthless! Child allowances help EVERYBODY . Not everybody is having babies all day... I for one am not.. I only have three and support my family .. there is nothing wrong with child allowances.. The reason why there is such a financial crisis is because people like you don't value the country.
78. We see 300,000 Jews protesting in the streets . . .
JB ,   SoCal, USA   (08.07.11)
. . . because they don't want to pay Retail. Alright already, we get it. Now go home . . . and don't leave any schmutz !
79. Equality....
RH ,   TA   (08.07.11)
All we ever ask from any government is EQUALITY...Equality is at the Heart of Judaism and we should throw away christian greedy ways and stop allowing this outside influence to take an even stronger hold on us and destroy all our Jewish values like christianity has destroy many values around the world with force and comply or die choices. Wake up Bibi and abandon your christian capitalistic ways...
80. Police "180,000"Media "300,000 ?????
MediaCredibility ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.07.11)
81. no.62- I fully agree with you!
Jew1 ,   Ashdod   (08.07.11)
I always thought that a big social war is on the horizon between haredim - seculars. Being a secular, I always heard big disappointment towards the government from friends, in bus, at work etc. Everyone talked about only givng to haredim and looting the seculars. I myself felt frustrated and helpless to stop this unjustice. I always posted on sties about my opinion that there is a pening social war between us. I was actually surprised to see it turned out in this way. I went to visit in their tents and commenly heard that if the haredim can get it free then even we as tax payers deserve better. Our government did a big mistake by allowing this haredi monopoly to continue. It created lot of anger in normal secular public sector and we are watching the results. I like Bibi and want him to stay. I hope he addresses the nation and makes an agenda for coming few years to solve each problem at one time as we can not solve all the problems at this very moment. We are a young struggling country with fragile economy. I hope they announce the agenda to public and pass it as a rule in kneset for the coming few years and also for the coming new governemnts..
82. #28 - you do realize that the source
seadog1946 ,   Arthur Kill, NJ   (08.07.11)
of your purported fabulous wealth and stature is the result of being able to participate in the benefits of an economy that, to this day, is still plundering the natural resources of land that was criminally expropriated from the decimated native americans.
83. I'm with the protestors, 100%!
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.07.11)
The wealthy elite, who created the state, to cash in on the conflict between Jews and Arabs, have never had the interest of Jews in Israel at heart. Just look at Germany today - how nice that country is. The children of the Nazis got a better deal than the children of the Holocaust. The injustice is not going to go on forever. If Israelis feel that there is no hope of a better life for their children in Israel, they will just leave the country.
84. #82;seadog, AND THAT MEANS...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.07.11)
Yea, so what's your point? We all live here, most of us came after that occurred. So what should the USA do, that it has not already done? Or do you just like hearing te sound of your voice, as they say?
85. Greedy Rich vs Needy Poor
John   (08.07.11)
Many people are sick and tired of the rich and powerful economically raping them for their benefit and greed with the things that the people need to live like food, fuel, shelter, etc. A great deal of the many price increases have been mostly from speculation, artificial manipulation and control by monopolies and cartels rather than by any real shortages. It's the greedy rich vs the needy poor. It's time that the government elected by the people did something to protect the people from economic rape and abuse by rich greedy sociopaths whose only purpose in life is to make more and more money while most others are barely surviving and struggling while making and having less and less money as a consequence of this social and economic imbalance.
86. #84 - just ignore it... it wasn't directed at
seadog1946 ,   Arthur Kill, NJ   (08.07.11)
your real estate business advice (#4).
87. #62 and 81..1000 shekel not FREE
ita ,   israel   (08.07.11)
The 1000 shekel is for the men who are learning is a whole lot less than the humanitarian aid going into Gaza when the Gazans know full well how to get weapons. If they know to get weapons then they can get food!! What about the electricity and other services given to the Arabs in Yehuda and Shomron.. Whose pockets do you think that comes from ? ALL of us .. including the Haredim who you think don't pay any taxes. 1000 shekel barely pays half a food bill anymore.. Do you really think that Haredim get a free ride???? I would rather support Haredim than young kids sitting in cafe's in Tel Aviv all day .
88. #59 MICHAEL - HEARD THE LATEST?
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (08.07.11)
London was set on fire last nite, riots, window smashing & double decker buses set on fire
89. VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (08.07.11)
How many people were killed because they had the Chutzpah to demonstrate ?
90. Mortgage (Mashkanta)
Mark Schwartz ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.07.11)
to E17, try 60% down in my case. One wage earner, only 2 years in country. The banks here are smart and are not in the business of repossessing. That is a lot of cash and I came here over 50 and had the means to do it. The young must have a dream to own a home as well.
