2. Really!!!!!
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (08.08.11)
This is pitiful! They leave Israel looking for money, just money, and then they start crying when they see what's happening here? Well you cannot sit in two chairs with one ass! Stay there, make money, be happy and don't cry for us!
3. yordim
Joe ,   Dimona   (08.08.11)
these people are disgraces. they didn't leave israel because it was hard. they left israel because they are willing to sell out their country to make an extra $200 per month. shame on them. i don't even consider them israelis.
4. What I like about these articles ....
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.08.11)
They never, ever, talk about the real causes of the high cost of living in Israel. I doubt if I've read more than three or four serious analyses on the Israeli economy in the last year. What we get instead is kvetching & economically unviable demands akin to a belief in magic. I have to admit, if I had known how expensive Israel was & if I had to work for a living, I would not have made Aliyah. I had a serious case of ''sticker shock'' at prices in Israel. But, having a background in economics & business experience plus having lived in an Arab country most of my life, I could easily see & understand how the Israeli economy works (or rather, doesn't work) for the majority of citizens. Kvetching & slogans are not a solution. I used to laugh about Israelis being a bunch of sheep for putting up with this dysfunctional system so, in truth, I'm glad to see the protests. But, it's disappointing to see how little Israelis understand about economics & how easily such protests could be hijacked by a political agenda.
5. To #3 Joe
Kodosmama ,   Jordan Valley   (08.08.11)
Before I made aliyah, I was making about $4200/ month....here I make 4600 shekels ($1306) a month. That's a huge difference, and I am paying more here per shekel for gas, food, daycare, etc.
6. No One in the US Cares
yaakov ,   TA   (08.08.11)
With the US facing a second recession, a falling stock market and high unemployment, who do these yordim think they are influencing?-Well the answer is no one. After the huge failure of the "Arab Spring", there is even less interest in the US over what happens in the ME.
7. "Social protest: 'This is why we left Israel'"
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.08.11)
This makes them economic refugees which does not entitle them to reside and work in the U.S. As a successful attorney at law practicing for more than 50 years at a prestigious law firm in New York City, I will make it my duty to report those clowns to the immigration and Naturalization service. Israel is not and will never be a welfare state, so get off your lazy asses and WORK for a change...
8. Sad that those who leave Israel....
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.08.11)
have not anymore the spirit of the pioneers.
9. I will never ever allow Israel to become a welfare state...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.08.11)
To those clowns I say: GOOD RIDDANCE...
10. To those that left I say:
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.08.11)
GOOD RIDDANCE...Israel is better off without you...

12. LA Yordim: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
Chaim ,   Migron   (08.08.11)
convince your Leftist secular brothers and sisters to move to LA with their entire families. PLEEEEASE. We'll forever be grateful to you for that.
13. They would come back.. especially now as the US crashes
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (08.08.11)
and the grass is no longer so green on the other side of the fence. Weather I have companion for the Israeli protesters or not, I have little compassion for those that leave.
14. Boo hoo hoo
TruthMonger   (08.08.11)
I make less money here in Israel than I did in the States, but I have more buying power despite the high prices, why? Cause I aint payin 100G a year on School tuitions! Also, and here is the kicker, I get to wake up in a Jewish Homeland, now that may not be important to everyone, but it sure as heck is important to me. I have one question, what are those UYordim giving to the USA NADDA I say, as JFK said, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for it. Yes there are problems, but they are not Bibis fault, they are ours, if it is too expensive to have a cell phone, then throw it away, if tomatoes are too expensive, don't buy them, my friends, the ONLY thing that brought down the price of Cottage, was the boycott, that is how you win.
15. What are these jokers in LA doing? US Economy is collapsing
Tomer   (08.08.11)
Real GDP / head in the US is shrinking at 5% this year. Real Unemployment is well over 20%. These are the genuine numbers - not the fake figures invented by the Uncle Scam Government.
16. Lets see University tuition in
david ,   Jerusalem   (08.08.11)
the USA 4 years= approx $200,000. Israel 3 years= approx $7,000 Jewish day school education USA $20,000 a year + Israel FREE
17. crass behavior
Judd ,   Los Angeles   (08.08.11)
I will not paint all israeli's with one brush but I have hundreds of Israeli customers in my Los Angeles business and many of them are among the most corrupt and devious folks I know. Relentlessly grinding down the price to the point of insult, and then becoming indignant at the notion of paying sales tax like everyone else are common traits. Anyone that knows me is aware of my unwavering support and generosity towards Israel, however too many Israeli expats are here to game and cheat the system and resort to dubious means to make their fortune. For many their feelings for their abandoned homeland is "whatever". I am not impressed by this disingenuous show of support. More like a party for them than real concern for the country they left behind.
18. These issues should be depolitized
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (08.08.11)
I agree with Terry's concern that legitimate social-economic issues can easily become linked with more security related issues, under an undesirable leadership. For this reason alone, I think our government should seriously examine the core issues involved, and act & look like a viable government in the process.
19. Israel is a "democracy". Nothing wrong in protesting
Sami ,   New York, USA   (08.08.11)
Israel is a "democracy". Nothing wrong in protesting. That is how you improve the country.
20. US GDP per capita $46,000 Israel $26,000
(08.08.11)
but Prices in US cheaper than Israel. That is farked
21. Maybe Israel could build lots of houses
John ,   NZ   (08.08.11)
to bring down their prices. I can think of some good plots of land that will become available after September
22. that would make you how old?
Jason ,   cherry hill nj   (08.08.11)
23. #5 I get more than that on an invalids benefit
Bill ,   NZ   (08.08.11)
That is silly money- i dont know how you survive
24. they left Israel they have no right to protest
zionist forever   (08.08.11)
These people don't live or work in Israel, they probably didn't vote at the last election have no right to be protesting and encouraging the downfall of this government. The only reason they are getting involved is not out of solidarity its because they see this as a historic event and want to be involved. Its become fashionable to protest over whats going on right now, thats why Israeli's are coming from all over the country and why you have them protesting in the US.
25. To Sarah B imposter -- hilarious :)
(08.08.11)
26. You REALLY left because you like money!!!
Riva Schertzman ,   Israel   (08.08.11)
Believe it or not, living in Israel MUST be connected to a spiritual purpose or it will end in large STUPID and SELFISH protests which in their course malign groups they hate like -Hareidim and "Settlers." REALLY, these protests are about getting rid of the right wing gov't which IS improving our economy as can be explained from a professional perspective. From the time i made alliyah with my medical doctor husband 20 years ago, things were very difficult for us. now at least he earns a reasonable salary and can work, and with the house we bought increasing in value, we can live a nice life style. WE went to live in cheaper places and did without so we could live in ISRAEL and contribute to its GRADUAL improvement. We both did a lot of wonderful things for our people by being here and taking advantage of the spiritual benefits. For without recognizing that Israel is the HOLYLAND, there is NO OTHER PURPOSE TO BE HERE FOR JEWS. Notice that these protesters/whiners push Kadima, which actually encourages their communistic bent ideas-everyone should have the same...everyone should be entitled to their apts in Tel Aviv with all their luxuries, except the POOR and BLAMED Hareidim who should ALWAYS absorb everyone's complaints and hate because in reality, THIS is selfish and hateful!
27. usa is a classless society based on meritocracy
sweeter than honey ,   far away   (08.08.11)
so is israel and the united kingdom and europe. there is no class or classism is there? indeed look how rich and or powerful diaspora jews (in media or academia) do not join boycott-israel groups to adversely affect the lives of working-class jewish israelis. the is no class bigotry and prejudice is there? please advise.
28. #17
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (08.08.11)
Now you understand why we are glad these people left Israel and hope they never come back.
29. Stay out of this
Yaacov ,   KY   (08.08.11)
Hide in shame you traitors. You abandoned your family so keep out of it.
30. They're right.
Daniel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.08.11)
Obviously, they still love and care for Israel. Economic necessity is both a halachic and legistimate reason for leaving. Good luck to them. I hope the situation improves here and they will return. They love Israel A LOT more than those who are here and do us so much damage internationally- like our government, our Knesset, settlers, etc.
